In 1979 and 1980 the WP's Jeffery Shops in Sacramento produced a series of remanufactured boxcars of various types, each with a different internal load cushioning system to determine which system worked best. Each of the systems being tested had the box car painted in 3 different, non- standard, WP color schemes.

Here we see red WP 60426 in the final stages of overhaul at the Jeffery Shops.
