Alfred E. Perlman was president of the Western Pacific from 12-01-1970 to 12-31-1972 and chairman until his retirement on 06-24-1976. He also is known for his time serving the Denver & Rio Grande Western,the New York Central, and Penn Central. This SW9 in Stockton Ca. wears the Perlman Green paint scheme. Two days ago (06-06-2021) I saw a CSX office car special in New York State with his name on one of the passenger cars in the consist. Howard Kent Jr. 08-24-1978.

Of UP's six heritage units, UP 1983 is the one I had not seen the longest (eight years earlier, as of this shot). The angle and clutter in the shot isn't great, but I still wanted to get a shot while it was in Denver. It is currently sitting on the ready track in Denver, awaiting its next assignment.
