On an extremely hot day in July 1978, WP 913 leads the “Fab Four” at Mossdale California making a run for the eastern approach to the Altamont Pass grade with the SJT.

A BN run through heads down the WP at James CA with ex GN 2512, two ex Q GP35's and an ex SP&S C636 in October 1971. I think this one came from Richard Wallin, Chuck Schwesinger collection.

WP GP40 3538 leads a piggy back train eastbound out of Portola in June 1978. Already the UP is showing it's presence on the WP property as a prelude of thing to come in the future.

WP GP35 3008 leads symbol BN 138 northbound at MP 45 on the Highline north of Westwood, CA at MP 45 at Robbers Creek on July 4, 1982.

WP GP7 705 is still wearing it's factory orange and silver paint in July of 1975 as seen here at South Sacramento.

WP SW8 605 crosses 21st Street and will be entering the South Sacramento Yard with the morning interchnage traffic from the SP, SN, and CCT at Haggin yard a few miles to the east.

WP GP40 3531 leads a hot piggyback train trhough the Kramm siding and around the BN 2538. The head end crews exhange greetings on a gorgeous California spring afternoon sometime in early 1972.

WP GP40 3512 leads a trio of GEs eastbound in a small plume of diesel exhaust in June 1978.

 

Today the tracks and businesses are gone from this location, and so are the locomotives. The 3512 would live on into the UP era before being retired in the 1990s and then finding its way to KCS ownership. It is unknown it it still survives on the KCS as 2820.
