In this undated photo, the WP 3530 is arriving in Portola for a crew change before continuing its westward trek towards Stockton.
E6 Slide
Dodging the afternoon shadows, WP 3528 west navigates the back alley of 19th Street on a late afternoon in June 1979. The WP route through Sacramento was not very photogenic by this time, with most of the line side businesses having discontinued rail service and the former industrial leads being removed and becoming over grown with weeds and filled with trash.
Kodachrome 64 Slide - June 1979
WP X3071E on the mainline meets WP X3541W on the siding both trains are stopped to change crews at Portola, CA on August 28, 1974.
The interior re trim is superb. However this pattern is not prototypical to R855 PRG having had the rainbow moquett when new.
WPs 7125 and 7056 wait for departure from Vadodara with 55 Fast Pass on 20/10/78. Not the best of shots, I'm afraid, Kodachrome II is a bit limited after sunset, but this is the only shot I have of a double-header on BG passenger. From memory the load was 20 or 21 bogies.

Western Pacific 3515 was built in April 1967. 3515 is seen here making a visit to Denver, around 1971 or so. In 1982, it would become part of the Union Pacific roster after the 1982 merger with the WP. Three years later, it would be renumbered to UP 664. The unit would be retired in 1993 and sold to the Kansas City Southern. It would be rebuilt into a GP40-2 by Morrison-Knudsen before being delivered, at which time it became KCS 4778. It would be renumbered to KCS 2823 and is still doing work on the KCS system.
