After taking his photo, he motioned me for a tip. I readily obliged and he was able to catch a coin that I tossed from two stories and 75 feet away. Perhaps he'd done this before. : )

Nurse bees next to highly-domed cells of male drones. Note the contrast with the flat caps and much smaller size of female worker cells.

In 1780s Tong Achew, a chinese trader started a sugar factory about 33 km south of Calcutta. Achew brought with him a group of Chinese workers to work in his sugar plantation & factory. Achew expired in a few years and his sugar mill was abandoned, leaving the Chinese to migrate to Calcutta, which still houses a large Chinese Community.
The place came to be known as Achipur, named after Tong Achew. Today apart from a Chinese temple and Achew's grave nothing remains of Chinese culture of Achipur.
But on the two Sundays following the Chinese New Year the entire Chinese population of Calcutta gathers in Achipur, to pay tribute to Achew and offer prayers at the Chinese Temple.
The above photo shows Chinese of Calcutta lightning candles at the Chinese Temple in Achipur.

Six advisory signs will operate through a central control system to provide real-time train crossing information — indicating if the crossing is open or closed — so drivers can make informed decisions for travel in Langley, Surrey and the Township of Langley. The signs will specify the train’s location and travel direction, enabling drivers to use alternate crossing options at adjacent railway overpasses, in order to avoid traffic delays. In addition to reducing traffic congestion and minimizing greenhouse gas emissions due to decreased vehicle idling times, the signs will increase travel efficiency and mobility for emergency vehicles.

As far as I can tell these were employees of my Great Grand Parents. Most likely taken in Proctorsville Vermont, they may have worked at the Eagle Hotel or another one of the hotels or restaurants my family ran back then.
I think the building in the rear my be the old bank building that is still standing in Proctorsville.

Działki - Workers Gardens in free translation - tiny, magical colorful spaces that are to be found in most polish cities. Those small gardens from early spring until late autumn are exploding from floral overabundance. Little houses are mostly build from recycled materials and are rare example of colorful architecture in the often so harsh reality of my homeland. Here a bit unconventional winter view.
