Workers of the city in business life

I am drawn to this old suspension bridge in one of our local parks. I know when the best light is but, even better, I know its history as a WPA-build in 1938. I feel the pride of those workers every time I get down here with my camera and love taking it in b/w. A parks' colleague did replace the suspension cabling around 2000 or so.

To earn 1,000 Sri Lankan rupees, workers must harvest at least 18kg per day otherwise they get a lower rate per kilo. These fees are set by the government which also leases the tea estates to companies

The winter morning shadows in Richfield County Park highlight the efforts of the WPA development here in the late 1930s, such as infrastructure (the "highway" bridge shown), tree planting ,etc.

A group of workers engaged in a landscape gardening project in Cape Town. Circa 1978.

A worker Carpenter Ant towers over her large herd of tiny aphid 'cows'. With eyes positioned on top of her head, she cannot see what is taking place beneath her jaws, so she must rely on her senses of touch and smell. Delicate, sensitive mouthparts for collecting tiny drops of honeydew are hidden behind those massive jaws.

always welcome guest in our garden since couple of years
