I just love these guys. Surprisingly, not hostile either, at least to Raven, although I've had reports from friends that said these sizeable creatures mowed down their male chars. XD
I believe tonight is a night of a full moon and Halloween as well. So who knows what I will see flying by.
This time last year the library was running an all night event - from 10am Friday - 4pm Saturday with lots of events during the day and night. We had a fire dancer and I did a sunset photoshoot (absolutely no sunset!). Also a Chinese orchestra and the men's shed cooking free breakfast. How times have changed! Here's to a a better time coming up.
Have an excellent and perhaps quiet Samhain!
Needless to say there is a bit of photoshop in the photo!

Salix lanata (Salicaceae) is a subarctic species of willow native to Iceland, the Faeroe Islands and Finland, through to eastern Siberia. It is a low, many-branched, deciduous shrub, generally less than 100 cm (39 in) high by 150 cm (59 in) broad. The new twigs are hairy at first, soon becoming hairless and brown. The grey-green leaves are covered in silvery-grey "wool" to begin with but less so with age.
The catkins appear in summer (May to July), with male and female catkins on separate plants (like all willows this species is dioecious). (Wikipedia)

Super moon tonight and the werewolves may have been out in London but owl shaped leaves were out in my backyard!
Enjoy the moon people.

When people think of a wooly bear caterpillar they immediately think of the banded wooly bear, which according to folklore can predict the severity of winter weather. But there are actually eight or more species that could be called wooly bears. The wooly bear caterpillar is the larval stage of the adult tiger moth. I'm not sure which species of wooly bear/tiger moth this one represents. it was feasting on weeds in our backyard.
