This was taken at the Haliburton Forest Wolf Center, which is near my parents cottage in Haliburton, Ontario, Canada. There is a small pack of wolves that roam a 15 acre enclosure. There is a visitors building with one way glass where people can come and watch the wolves, provided the wolves are not out roaming their 15 acres. Taken with 45-150 fourthirds lens on E-P1 body with MMF-2 adapter, handheld.

as these wolves sometimes come close to the window, we saw that this one has cataract. one of his eyes is fully grey, you can see it well on this photo.
She was going crazy in her first Island snow... digging in it, eating it, tossing it around...
I called her so she'd look at the camera, and got this. I love her "caught in the act" look. She looks just a wee bit guilty... and every bit the wild animal. (Well, except for the little blue tag that says "Echo"...)
I've never seen a wolf in real life before, and there was a whole pack of white ones at the Zoo. What beautiful creatures!

Female Wolf spider with about 50 spiderlings. She entered our house at about 23:00 when it rained. Harmless to humans. They hunt their prey like wolves do by running them down. Potchefstroom, South Africa.
The Capitoline Wolf (Italian: Lupa Capitolina) is a bronze sculpture of a she-wolf suckling twin human infants, inspired by the legend of the founding of Rome. According to the legend, when Numitor, grandfather of the twins Romulus and Remus, was overthrown by his brother Amulius, the usurper ordered the twins to be cast into the Tiber River. They were rescued by a she-wolf who cared for them until a herdsman, Faustulus, found and raised them. The Capitoline Wolf has been housed since 1471 in the Palazzo dei Conservatori on the Campidoglio (the ancient Capitoline Hill), Rome, Italy.
The age and origin of the Capitoline Wolf is a subject of controversy. The statue was long thought to be an Etruscan work of the 5th century BC,with the twins added in the late 15th century AD, probably by the sculptor Antonio Pollaiolo. However, radiocarbon and thermoluminescence dating has found that the wolf portion of the statue was likely cast between 1021 and 1153.
The grey wolf or gray wolf, Canis lupus, often known simply as wolf, is the largest wild member of the Canidae family. It is an ice age survivor originating during the Late Pleistocene around 300,000 years ago. DNA sequencing and genetic drift studies reaffirm that the gray wolf shares a common ancestry with the domestic dog (Canis lupus familiaris). Although certain aspects of this conclusion have been questioned, including recently, the main body of evidence confirms it. A number of other gray wolf subspecies have been identified, though the actual number of subspecies is still open to discussion. Gray wolves are typically apex predators in the ecosystems they occupy. Though not as adaptable as more generalist canid species, wolves have thrived in temperate forests, deserts, mountains, tundra, taiga, grasslands, and even urban areas.
Though once abundant over much of Eurasia and North America, the gray wolf inhabits a very small portion of its former range because of widespread destruction of its territory, human encroachment, and the resulting human-wolf encounters that sparked broad extirpation. Even so, the gray wolf is regarded as being of least concern for extinction according to the International Union for Conservation of Nature, when the entire gray wolf population is considered as a whole. Today, wolves are protected in some areas, hunted for sport in others, or may be subject to extermination as perceived threats to livestock and pets.
