Somebody better check my temperature... I'm obviously off a little bit ha! I don't think I've ever posted more than one picture in a 24 hour period. I've fallen in love with this picture (approximately 4 am here) and I wanted to get the color toning just so. Sometimes an image will resonate so strongly with me I just can't leave it. This one has such a melancholy pull to it I had to finish it and then I had to post it. The icy blues are exactly that - a rushing icy river is directly behind the bright red berries. No color as blue as the icy blues you see in Winter streams and lakes in the mountains. When the red of the berries caught my eye I was struck by how beautiful the two colors were together. Thanks for bearing with me!!
Happy New Year!!!

Happy Winter Solstice Day!
Rejoice at the return of the Sun. I gladly welcome back longer days and shorter nights. Plus Spring/Summer is getting closer....
Enjoy your SUNday!
Stacksteads
Freezing conditions as Stacksteads turns into the Arctic.
Cold but lovely. It’s nice to see a blue sky and the sun.
Wrap up well for winter.

Winter has been an amazing one with early season rains feeding roots. A handful of native plants have been flowering, but none more obvious than the brittlebush. This area overlooking the mountain range is rich in plant diversity with a previous fire reinvigorating the soil for productive growth. Love finding little pockets in the desert that come together for a fun photo op.
Quick Note: Accidentally added a duplicate watermark that I missed. Doh.
This is an image I probably would not have taken 12 months ago. It is only since meeting up with Geoff Moore that we have managed to get to these locations.
There is a lot to be said for someone, who when I e-mail him with a hair brained scheme, to drive to North wales, climb half way up a mountain in the dark and snow, just to take a photo of a tree. Instead of the normal expletives and questions about my sanity, his normal response is great, what time are we going. I did toy with calling this shot Geoff's tree, but it probably already has a name.

Since our winter has made an early exit, I'm digging up winter images from last year. Taken at Port Credit beach in February after an east wind coated the trees in ice
A short snowshoe hike under gray skies, a light snowfall, and dim light wasn't much inspiration for photography so I had to contend myself with the winter woods as an abstract motion blur.
While the east coast seems to be experiencing an early spring, we're still "enjoying" our typical cold, gray and rainy winter here in the PNW, with no apparent end in sight. Here is an image taken earlier this winter on a morning wander through our arboretum.
Tree of white, sky of grey
Beauty on a Winters day
When the branches , wide and bare
Are caressed by the cold air
Around the white tree, sky of grey
As beauty fills a Winters day

Last night, I managed to get to Phipps Conservatory here in Pittsburgh for their Winter Flower Show and Light Garden.
It's becoming a holiday tradition for my family and with all of the holiday activities including work and CoVid, I was not sure I would be able to get to it this year.
So glad I did ... Just wished I had taken my 14-24mm lense as well.
Happy New Year to all of my Flickr friends. Wishing each of you a safe, healthy and prosperous 2022!

We weren't expecting snow this morning, but were pleasantly surprised to see it falling on the Hartside Pass and over towards Alston.
