Sehr kurzfristig hatten wir die Gelgenheit zu einem Kurztrip nach Stralsund an die Ostseeküste. Die Stadt hat eine wunderschöne Altstadt - hier zu sehen die beiden Kirchen St. Nikola und St. Jakobi. Hauptattraktionen sind aber wohl das Meeresmuseum und das Ozeaneum. Und natürlich die Nähe zur Insel Rügen ...

Early winter sun coming into the front living room window. It adds no warm inside or outside, since we are in a cold snap - keeping our temps in the low single digits to mid teens.

Winter can be a chancy season to schedule weddings, but this one at the Boise Temple worked out nicely despite the snow on the ground! It had been hovering around 0F a few days earlier so we actually lucked out with the temperatures. And those perfect reflections! Beautiful.

The Peace Palace (Dutch: Vredespaleis), situated in The Hague, Netherlands, is often called the seat of international law because it houses the International Court of Justice (which is the principal judicial body of the United Nations), the Permanent Court of Arbitration, the Hague Academy of International Law, and the extensive Peace Palace Library.
In addition to hosting these institutions, the Palace is also a regular venue for special events in international policy and law.

First I have to say that I did not do a snow dance for the storm that is across the US...but I do like winter more than most folks. This shot didn't turn out quite right...the snow wasn't the right kind to make snow people with. And the heart doesn't look like a heart. But I had fun...the eyes and noses are chocolate covered sunflower seeds. Much better used for this than eating. Have a great, safe Tuesday.
Defries Gardens is my favorite local garden to visit. I had never seen it in the Winter, so after this last snow, I went for a visit. I was a Winter wonderland!
The winter solstice occurs at the instant when the Sun's position in the sky is at its greatest angular distance on the other side of the equatorial plane as the observer. Depending on the shift of the calendar, the event of the Winter solstice occurs sometime between December 20 and 23 each year in the Northern hemisphere.
Hardly one second later the sun broke the horizon and this magnificent show of colors was gone. It is at this time of year the sky magically performs, and provides colors that might otherwise appear on a canvas. The trees almost look to be making room for the sun to burst like a ballon onto the horizon.
