A pumpkin is a cultivated winter squash in the genus Cucurbita. The term is most commonly applied to round, orange-colored squash varieties, but does not possess a scientific definition. It may be used in reference to many different squashes of varied appearance and belonging to multiple species in the Cucurbita genus. grokipedia.com/page/Pumpkin

My photographic work is not about finding the secret or "right" technique, technology, or tools to make the artistic images that delight my eye. It's not so much about creating the image itself, but more about reciprocal creation - how through the daily practice of looking and layering - color, patterns, lines, movement - both with the camera and off-camera, I compose myself and frame a relationship with the natural world. It's about light - and the dark. It's about time - both shutter speed and the long, blah doubts of the everyday. I don't have to travel to far off places. I can find all of it in the middle of winter in my own back yard.
Part two of my winter trees series. All are photographed using my infrared camera and processed using the same recipe

I took this picture when it was a little warmer that 0 DEGREES. It was about 30 degrees when I took this picture. Im sad that winter vacation is comming to an end because now I have to go back to school :( Ah well anyway the reason I took this picture was because I havent had a good one in a while so I said well lets go take one. I used cross process on this one. I thought it would bring out more of the color in this picture. Gosh I LOVE PHOTOGRAPHY! The weather right now is horrilbe and the scenery is disgusting and brown muddy snow so I will try to upload more pictures during spring. Well I hope you all had a very nice christmas vacation and HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL! Tell me what you think :)
thanks
Winter's breath whispers,
Fog veils the world in stillness,
Chill lingers softly.

Another Snowy/Winter shot from Weardale. As I was walking up the road these sheep all started walking towards me. They must have thought I had some food for them or something. It was very nice of them to pose for a photo anyway :)

Winter has taken over. As far as we see, everything is magically frozen, leaving none to warmth. The quiet is haunting. But calming. Get some rest, now's the time of peace.

It’s probably Magnolia x Soulangeana. This is a hybrid magnolia, bred to bloom in winter. This specimen is especially deep pink….many pictures I’ve seen of others show a lot more white, along with a paler pink.
On campus. UC Berkeley.
Not sure why, but I always find it to be a happy little surprise when I find a leaf above the snow in the winter.
Winter is persistent in Berlin this season... I still hope for an early spring. Well, at least I saw Easter sweets in the grocery store yesterday. But maybe Easter bunny will need a sledge this year again...

"Winter teaches us that even the coldest days can lead to beautiful transformations." - Unknown. While hubby was taking great shots of the waterfall with his wide angle lens, I focused on the transformations along the edges of the waterfall with my long lens. It was a very cold day after a fresh snowfall. Some trees were blanketed in layers of fluffy white snow. Others were encased in frosty ice from the mist of the roaring water flowing down. Then there were the trees that soaked up the morning sun to keep their needles dry. I was toasty warm with my winter gear including my new heated glove liners that work beautifully for this kind of cold weather photography.
