The photo was fortunately taken in January 2021 but it's so cold that we can feel the breath of the coming winter...
Another shot at Hirtle's Beach, Nova Scotia. It offers great views along the shore and out to sea. Gaff's Point in the distance is a good hike as long as you watch the tides.

We had a little snow yesterday and overnight. With the colder temperatures this past week and the forecast for continued cold, I never expected to find these mushrooms still active. Winter is here.

Not too many birds calling actively these days in the forest, with the exception of red eyed vireos, pewees, and of course pound for pound the loudest bird out there, the Winter Wren! This one was happily singing, calling and bouncing around fairly close to the falls at Hilton Falls this rainy morning, with shutter speeds at 1/80th @ 600MM (840MM crop) I was lucky to get maybe 2 sharp frames out of 50!
Thanks to all for your friendly comments, faves and invites I appreciate so much!!!

Early Spring ephemerals are beginning to bloom and there are green shoots popping up. But they'll be buried under two feet of snow tomorrow with our next March Winter storm. Winter blues ...what crazy weather!

🎄 Christmas Eve blanketed by the soft shadows created by the light of the moon. The Christmas snow falls gently all around, glowing...twinkling... it glows.
Everyone knows that Christmas Snow is magical...
Merry Christmas.
