Just south of Cedar City Utah, finishing my 10 hour break and waiting to head to delivery appointment. Overcast, light rain and snow. Decided to walk around and see what I could find close to the ground that would make interesting subjects. Did some intentional camera movement shots and some various plants in their winter state.
One of my most photographed trees on one of the rare winter mornings last year.
Einer meiner meistfotografierten Bäume an einem der seltenen Wintermorgen letztes Jahr.

Afternoon Sunlight in the Winter can be very nice as the Sun never gets to high in the sky it not as harsh as Summer Sunlight.This was taken about 15.00hrs so the Sun has past it highest point in the sky and is on its way down.The shot shows The Bird In Hand pub/restaurant located right next to the Staffordshire &Worcestershire Canal just outside Stourport-On-Severn on the way to Kidderminster
Brutally cold day yesterday, even in the afternoon, but the fresh snow helped provide a pretty winter landscape. (Always pretty to find a red barn surrounded by a layer of white snow!)

In the midst of winter, I found there was, within me, an invincible summer.
And that makes me happy. For it says that no matter how hard the world pushes against me, within me, there’s something stronger – something better, pushing right back.

Second highest mountain in the bavarian forest (1453m).
Seas of white clouds touch the forest slopes.
Suggest flowing primeval seas.
Isolated mountain islands protrude.
Lapped by wet element.
Even in the darkest days of winter, signs of life & hope can be found, like these little Hellebore buds frosted with ice. They were a surprise & I was thrilled to find them!
"And for all this, nature is never spent;
There lives the dearest freshness deep down things;
And though the last lights off the black West went
Oh, morning, at the brown brink eastward, springs--..."
Gerard Manley Hopkins
Sometimes winter can be colourful.
Thank you for all the kind comments and faves on my images and I hope you have a lovely weekend.
For a few months in late 2010/early 2011, I spent at least one morning per week along CSX's Indianapolis line east of the city. On a good day, I could get 3-4 trains. Code line poles and NYC-era signals were still active, but changes were coming. Q007 cruises west at MP 267, sixteen miles from downtown Indianapolis.

All the complicated details
of the attiring and
the disattiring are completed!
A liquid moon
moves gently among
the long branches.
Thus having prepared their buds
against a sure winter
the wise trees
stand sleeping in the cold.
