When you can't be bothered to wash the airplane by hand, you can always fly along the edge of a passing rain shower. A dying straggler left behind by a cold front that had passed through town a few hours back, this little fella was as well behaved and as timid as an altar boy, with hardly a whiff of turbulence or misbehavior about it - which made it worth a short detour on my way past...

there was really no need for such a scene to be pushed under the viewer's eye again and again, yet it was all that there was to see at the moment.
over the next assignment we will be talking about the faculty of letting the enemy define your edges, a tactic called psychotic mimicry or your mileage of getting old. but it's still too early for that assignment, so here's the view from the window with all its shrieking implications, a yet to be sung tune being completely out of tune.
ultimately, choices are for wimps. the rest of us is just holding still through sandstorms and meteorite deluges, whistling the looney tunes theme.

The seat by the window looks out on a busy, especially for Austin, street scene on South Congress Avenue. While a little over 10 year ago this was not the best neighborhood, SOCO has become a very desirable and hip place to live and visit.
After a day of alternating sun and showers ... rainbow #5 showed up. This was taken as i sat on my couch looking out of my living room window ...I just picked up my camera and clicked.
Ah, those little autumnal pleasures: a light aircraft, a deep anticyclone, an open window - and a full spectrum of colors along the wooded hills of the western Balkans. Enjoying a beautiful view as we skip along the Kočevje Hills in the extreme south of Slovenia...

Driven in a van to Orvieto, and the villa our family rented for a vacation, it was an entirely new OLD world to me. Not at all the way old things were torn down to replace with less durable structures, back home. Contemplating the place of the past in the present day consumed much of my time during this vacation.
