Enjoying the two sure signs of the approach of autumn - an early sunset and extensive layer cloud - as we slowly glide out of a large cloud formation above the Swiss Alps. Once again not a bad way to end a flying day!

I again began the practice of taking my camera with me in my car as often as I could.

Life and having a cell-phone with a pretty gosh darn good camera embedded in it gradually moved me away from this practice of having one of my "good" cameras with me.

I love the ultra-wide view of the world. It's how I see things.

I have a very nice 10mm (15mm in 35mm camera equivalent) to 20mm Sigma zoom lens for my Pentax cameras. Almost all of the time, I keep that baby wide open at 10mm.

I was stopped at a light while driving on a cloudy, off-and-on rainy day. I looked out and immediately grabbed my camera. One quick move to frame-without-looking through the viewfinder, press the shutter and this scene was captured. The light changed, and off I went.

The ocean of clouds above, full of potential rain, flowing eastward above the dimmed landscape.

A slice of my day, my point of view.

I'm glad I had this camera, this lens, with me.

What do we see when we look through a window?

From inside, the room almost disappears into shadow. Our eyes are naturally drawn towards the light and to what is waiting on the other side of the glass.

Here, an open window reveals the Mediterranean: the sea, the sky and a horizon stretching into the distance.

The contrast between the dark interior and the bright world outside was what caught my attention. Two very different spaces, separated by a simple window.

Sometimes we don't need to go outside to discover a view.

We just need to look through the window.

The rain has kept me in today, plus the moving of items from one room to another. Looking out of the den window, it just looked so dismal outside, with the building opposite looking wet and gray from the rain. The lonely fan still sits on the window sill, not yet put away. Hopefully we will get some more Indian Summer days when it will get used again, since we face full sun and the room gets very warm.
