Not everyone appreciates the rainy weather specially if you live in an urban jungle. If you look through and beyond you seen another world.
A 24 hour strike at major Australian airports coincided perfectly with my planned departure from Sydney today, on a pre-Christmas escape. I don't understand the hows and whys, but somehow my flight survived - and when I took this I was over the Northern Territory celebrating my good fortune.

I worked for 47 years from 1974 to 2021. My last 30 years were with the Virginia Department of Environmental Quality in Richmond.
For my first 43 years, I had an office. For my last four years, I had a cubical. BUT, at least I had the best view in the building.
Sitting at my desk, this was my view. A fantastic view of the Virginia Capitol. What a view!
There are days when I am unable to leave my house due to chronic pain and yet nature finds me and gives me something to focus on, literally…
There is a unique kind of magic in train travel. The carriage window becomes a living frame, constantly shifting through landscapes, glimpses of distant lives, and fleeting stories.
This shot captured a brief moment along the way: a solitary house standing out in a golden field beneath a heavy, dramatic sky. A sudden splash of color amidst the quiet greens and wheat. A second later, the train will carry you away, leaving this peaceful world behind—preserved only in this frame.
Enjoying another attractive sunset above Croatia's mountainous Lika region as we leave the coast and head back to our inland base...
