What do we see when we look through a window?

From inside, the room almost disappears into shadow. Our eyes are naturally drawn towards the light and to what is waiting on the other side of the glass.

Here, an open window reveals the Mediterranean: the sea, the sky and a horizon stretching into the distance.

The contrast between the dark interior and the bright world outside was what caught my attention. Two very different spaces, separated by a simple window.

Sometimes we don't need to go outside to discover a view.

We just need to look through the window.

• As of the latest numbers released today, there have been 45,400 reported cases of COVID-19 in B.C.; 9,978 of those are active.

*There have been 624 new cases and 11 deaths since Thursday.

• 724 people have died in B.C., with 356 in hospital, 92 of whom are in intensive care. 33,589 confirmed cases have recovered.

• 10,211 people are under active public health monitoring as a result of identified exposure to known cases.

• Front-line health workers received 1,376 doses of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine today, for a total of 2,592 doses to date.

• The majority of deaths are linked to seniors' homes, with 56 active outbreaks in long-term care and six in acute care. Here's an in-depth look at the cases and care homes affected.

• There have been cases in all B.C. health regions: Vancouver Coastal (10,969, 106 new), Fraser Health (28,887, 406 new), Vancouver Island (808, five new), Interior Health (3,124, 60 new), Northern Health (1,509, 47 new), and among non-Canadian residents (103).

• 1,363,251 British Columbians have been tested for COVID-19, including 11,529 in the past 24 hours.

More than Ever..

Woke up to palm trees outside the window this morning. Some of you have this view everyday, but I have oaks and pines at home. I love Florida.

View from a window in an old abandoned structure on Punta Mesca, along the hike from Levanto to Monterosso in Cinque Terre. This trail is amazing, where one essentially hikes south through vineyards, olive groves, and pines, and traversing cliff sides along a peninsula until hitting the point (punta). Upon making the turn around the point, one is treated to panoramic views of the Cinque Terre coastline encompassing all five towns, and otherwise enveloped by the deep blue Mediterranean Sea.
