Here's my workspace. I'm a college student still living at home and I needed a nice place to do my work when I'm not in class. The dual monitors allow me to view four documents at a time, or more recently a Virtual Machine on one, my lab document and my lab report on the other.
I have a set of rope lights giving me some ambient light behind the monitors. Both monitors are mounted to the wall with swivel / tilt mounts. I can rotate them 180 degrees vertically or horizontally independently of each other. I can also bring them as far forward as I want or push them up against the wall for maxim desktop room. I installed an outlet behind the monitors and run 1.5ft power cords to keep the wires hidden. The DVI cables are routed though the wall down to my town under the desk.
I've been using Windows 7 since June, running the Release Candidate, and was impressed by how remarkably stable it was. I never went with Vista, I skipped it and stayed with XP. But after using Win 7, I knew I'd be upgrading to it. I figured I might as well upgrade the hardware at the same time and be set for the next several years. So, today I installed Windows 7 Professional 64 bit on some new hardware. I pulled out my old motherboard and graphics card, and replaced it with a Intel Core i5-750 (quad core) on a Gigabyte GA-P55M-UD4 motherboard with 4gb Ram and a GeForce 9500GT graphics card with 512mb Ram. My case, power supply, and drives remained.
This system is noticeably and significantly faster than the last MB/Processor. Tomorrow I'll finish installing the rest of my applications and see how much faster they operate.
The great part about the Windows 7 Release Candidates were that they allowed me to FULLY test all my applications on both the 32 and 64 bit versions and judge for myself any problems I might have and come up with workarounds (which I did for a few apps on the 64 bit platform). Microsoft did a good thing giving these fully functional versions away for free, and I'm sure it will come back to them as upgrade sales.

With the recent release of the IE9 platform preview, I needed to run some HTML5 tests against the new browser, which required either Vista or Windows 7 - neither of which I owned. So I figured it was time I maned up and bought a copy of Windows to allow me to test. Aside form getting the license key wrong the first time I entered, the process was fairly smooth. That's now 5 OS platforms I'm running for various reasons on my Mac!
