Installing Windows7 on a friends old laptop which only had a CD drive (not DVD) so installation was from a USB drive.
Der Task-Manager wie gehabt. Die Speicherauslastung ist ähnlich wie bei Vista, aber Windows 7 ist nicht so träge und läuft genauso schnell wie XP. Auf der Festplatte benötigt Windows 7 Ultimate ein bisschen weniger (9GB) als Vista (10GB-19GB).
Apparently, I am the only person in the world, ever, to arrange taskbars vertically in Windows desktops.
Sue me for having more horizontal desktop resolution than vertical.
So with the taskbar snapped to the right side, the extended shutdown menu that is associated with the Arrow button - appearing on pressing the Arrow button - aligns itself with the Shutdown/Log off button instead of the Arrow button.
So using the menu is impossible since it disappears upon the mouse hovering away from the Arrow button.
I get punished for going against convention. At least Windows Vista was more forgiving with no such offset.
Under Format options it should have Really Slow Format and that default disabled.
I disabled Quick Format and now it has been busy formatting for two days now. Based on the size of progress bar the whole process will take around 4 days. Incredible!
The lower level OS functions are increasingly getting old. Not kept up to date or even tested before release.
Convert and copy are other examples of OS functions that are not working anymore.
