Then there was this one. This one did not make me happy at all. It was also gigantic, and it was out of reach. There was nothing I could do about it but leave it where it was.

... which happened to be in the peak of the ceiling, on this beam that ran the width of the cottage, positioned almost over the bed.

*shudder*

It was a little hard to fall asleep that night. I sort of hoped the gecko that was also up there might eat it. But then, the gecko was probably smarter than that, or it had learned from some previous experience, because it was missing an arm. If I had to lay odds on this fight, I truly wouldn't know which side to pick.

The gecko was up on the same beam, but a few feet away, and there it remained.

There was a third gigantic spider as well. It was lurking right by my toiletries in the bathroom.

*shudder*

When I went to try to catch that one to put it out, it squished itself quickly between the windowframe and the wall. I was hoping that way led to "out", not just "hiding here to come back in later". Thankfully I never found out.

The cottage was by no means air tight. It didn't even pretend to be. It was in the rainforest, and it was very small, and it had a piece of wavy corrugated metal as the roof. No insulation. Where that wavy metal came against the top of the wall, there were little arched spaces to outside. Plastic grocery bags had been wadded up and stuffed into each little arch. It was definitely an interesting construction. Not meant to keep the critters out.

This and the gecko were photographed with the telephoto lens on the 7D.

Al Mudhif - A Confluence is a collaboration of Sarah Kavage and Philadelphia-based artist Yaroub Al-Obaidi and his brother Mohaned to build a mudhif at the Schuylkill Center for Environmental Education (SCEE), possibly the first such structure to be built in North America! A mudhif is a traditional Iraqi ceremonial structure, made of bundled and woven marsh-growing reeds, that serves as a hospitality and celebration space. This mudhif will be made from invasive Phragmites reeds that were locally harvested nearby.

Grand opening Thursday, June 24, 2021, 7-9 pm. RSVP:

Cropped. The window marks are paw prints from a young puppy still in training. Every year they get higher and higher. I'm sure he'll still be in training when he's a grown man 😀 Originally uploaded a black and white photo but its much nicer in colour.

The old quartz from Rwanda and the geologist hammer block the window frame. The small relief scuplure on wood shows the famous Ankole-Watutsi cows.

I shot it in a moving cab [speed was about 20 km/hr]

Hav a look at the foreground elements : the frame of the driver window seat and his shoulder. I don't know what others think of it but i think that it is looking good.

And also as the Centre of attraction : the Tonga and the man walking in a local traditional outfit reflecting a mood of the Traditional City Agra in the cool North Indian Winter Afternoon.

P1230488 - Use a window or a door as a frame for your subject today in a photograph.

Been busy hanging a new door on the living room, so there is a door, hinge, door frame and window frame. Reckon that covers it, being framed by a door frame and window.

Abandoned cottage, covered in ivy, converted inside to sheep pens.

Work has finally started on the 2 hectare (5 acre) former Carlton and United Brewery site, to be developed into RMIT University’s Design Hub by 2011, at the top end of the CBD. On the south-west corner are the bluestone bones of one of the original buildings. Normally it’s boarded up, but on this visit the open window frames provided an interesting glimpse inside. And it was easy to shoot around the bars on the windows when necessary. (NB: I only had a 50mm lens on me, so I had to make do!)

This photo shows one of one of the barred window frames facing Bouverie St. Note the water bowl (left for the feral cats), but I’m not sure about the “days of iris” stencil.
