Photography is a little slow here this time of year so I decided to dip into the archives for a trip I took last summer. The first stop was the Wind River Range in Wyoming to do a little backpacking. This is a view of the Wind River Range from the highway near Boulder, Wyoming.

Wood Wind rusty small fan on this weathered wood door, a homemade windmill it looks like, found in the Carolina's.

it was sunset on a windy hot summerday with a bushfire in the distance

A windy day on the Solent yesterday not a yacht in sight😊

We had made a stop alongside Loch Shin where we had finally found calm water and some stunning reflections. In the 2-3 minutes it took to grab the gear the breeze was up and the reflections were gone. Mindful of this, when we arrived at a still Loch Stack, I raced across the marshy shore to capture not only a near perfect reflection but also some lovely fleeting light on Arkle and the foreground reeds. I managed just 3 exposures before the breeze once again returned, the water rippled and this was to be the last reflection we would capture that afternoon.

This is my most excellent Day Of The Dead Wind Spinner! It is hanging from the Maple tree in my backyard!

Christmas came with a storm from the Sahara which gives a golden light

Es pfeift der Wind. Was pfeift er wohl?

Eine tolle, närrische Weise.

Er pfeift auf einem Schlüssel hohl,

bald gellend und bald leise.

Die Nacht weint ihm den Takt dazu

mit schweren Regentropfen,

die an der Fenster schwarze Ruh

ohn` End eintönig klopfen.

Es pfeift der Wind. Es stöhnt und gellt.

Die Hunde heulen im Hofe.

Er pfeift auf diese ganze Welt,

der große Philosophe.

Standing on top of a cliff and shooting the Green Bridge in Wales, reminded me that this is the decade where so many of us finally awoke to realise that climate change is here.

I hope that part of the outcome of the US presidential election will bring a window of opportunity to change matters for the better.

Rejoining the Paris climate accord would be an encouraging first step in the right direction.

Pembrokeshire Coast National Park, Wales.

Last sunset as the excessive winds developed up to 60 km per hour ( glad it didn’t reach 100 km per hour ). Despite the 30 minutes loss of electricity, and a few trees down, no significant damage to our region. Today sunny and a high of 6C, but still windy 30 to 40 km per hour.

Young Song Sparrow in the Wind.

Little known fact (at least it was to me) some wind turbines have a small apartment for overnighting engineers.

North Leverton Wind Mill. Still a working mill set against a spectacular early Autumn sunrise.

A prevailing wind, in this case North Pembrokeshire

Looks fairly calm and tranquil really doesn't it.........,it wasn't!,the wind was almost knocking me over!,I'm amazed this is actually sharp even though I was shooting at 1000th of a second.............,very tricky.......

but look at that sky!,never seen one like it before,so very much worth it :)

Thanks to the windsurfers too, completed the picture :)

Chris.

Wind sculpted branches of limber pines (Pinus flexilis) near treeline reach their gnarly fingers toward the sky. Overhead clouds flow off the Continental Divide, portent of an oncoming summer cold front. The trees that make up the transition from forest to alpine in this area are usually spruce and fir, but a fire in 1916 burned through this stand, and have been replaced by the limber pine.

This fleece was my weather forecast!!
