This shot was taken later in the afternoon than the other two pictures I posted of these powerful monsters!

By now the wind was getting pretty ferocious, but it was coming over our left shoulders, what cyclists call a 'cross-tail' wind, so you weren't fighting it with every step. As the wind grew stronger the rain grew heavier making the last 45 mins of 'up' a bit of a slog!

The strong wind nearly blew the Belted Kingfisher off it`s perch.

Despite the wind yesterday, this Anna's hummingbird was flitting around near the Willamette River.

Starke Winde aus Westen verbreitern regelmäßig den Strand. Das Wasser wird durch den Wind aus der Bucht gedrückt. Da wo ich stehe wäre also normalerweise Wasser.

One of my favorite corn cribs braves another bitter cold January day.

To get this shot I used a dive housing and swam out into the surf from Dog Beach in San Diego. The sun set behind some clouds and it immediately became dark and had a calm yet stormy feel. I tried to accentuate this feel with the processing in Lightroom

In the absence of a glorious sunset I trained the cameras away from the sun and found a kite surfer setting up on dry land. In my mind the strings looked to be attached to the scaffolded building. Enjoy!

Rough seas at Hartlepool Headland! The waves were rolling in and crashing up against the sea wall, sending the surf high into the air and spilling over the wall, very close to these people braving the dangerous elements. We saw some of the earlier observers get drenched by the spray and they made a hasty retreat! We kept a safe distance off!

The wind turbines in the distance are just off the coast near Redcar and are owned by EDF Energy Renewables.

Many thanks to all who take the time to view, comment or fav my images.
