Wind Surf - Venice - 5th October 2014

Arrival of MYOU Wind (tan resin).

Long grass windswept on the Strand Liverpool

This is only a model of wind turbines that are currently off the coast of Ireland. The wingspan of the turbines is about a hundred yards. Each generates 3.6 megawatts per year.

Wind on the Great Kobuk Sand Dunes thrashes the flexible stems of grasses in all directions, resulting in neat circles and artistic patterns around the plants.

A rash of wind turbines have sprung up in the hill around the village where we live in Cyprus. Actually they are quite majestic and though they have changed the feel of our walks in the area, they are curiously interesting to be amongst too. This is an HDR shot, taking advantage of the motion to get a multiple wind blade effect.

The winds of this moon are stronger than anticipated.

No rain this beautiful day, but still very windy, 40+mph. To me, it's only a windy day if it warrants public advisories from the weather service!

The new foe of Tremor, Winder is a super fast Slizer who can summon the power to drive through any material, no matter how hard. He's on his way to Tremor's desert for unknown reasons, but Tremor has prepared by building a new vehicle, the Plain Treader.

The spring winds are in full force this week...gorgeous days though! Supposed to be in the 80's today, so more fun outside for us!!

Heavy rain and windy conditions whipped through Western Washington on Tuesday, October 13. The damaging windstorm caused widespread outages throughout our service area.

Our crews work around the clock to safely assess damage and restore outages caused by tree branches and limbs blown into the power lines by gusty winds. Our Emergency Coordination Center and all of our local storm bases were opened to coordinate our response efforts.

This photo was taken early in the morning on October 14 in Edgewood.

Portland, in the state of Victoria, was the first Australian council to receive a development application for wind turbines and now has enough in the shire to provide energy for several local towns combined.

I was away for a few days, attending the "annual conference" of The United Methodist Church's Eastern Pennsylvania region. My plan was to stay disciplined with Flickr! To reserve time, at least once a day, to post and make comments.

Unfortunately, I had trouble with wifi access. The signal in the motel didn't reach my room, and I would have gone broke paying for it at the convention center. So, now that I'm back, here are three of the photos I took with me, and intended to post while I was away! Janice and I watched as these two wind surfers arrived together, put into the bay at Assateague Island, and zigzagged away, often jumping twenty feet into the air.

Taken on the western end of the delta. Kite Boarder goes flying by as the Wind Generators draw electricity as the air blows past. The kite boarder was moving as fast as a speed boat without the gasoline nor pollution. At times kite boarders would become airborne momentarily.

A crazy wind storm + some brave kids makes for some cool photos!

The Wind Energy Technologies Office shared information about the latest in wind technology with the kids and helped them build their own (paper) turbines.

It's been a long time coming, but I finally decided to redo my pirate ship. I have always wanted to build a ship with removable decks so that figures can be placed below. I also decided to break one of my rules and create a set of custom sails for The Jade Wind to really dress it up. When all is said and done, I'm very pleased with the outcome.

Now for a little history...

The Jade Wind is a sailing vessel older than the memory of any of her crew. She has had many captains during her countless decades upon the high seas, and she is known for being one of the fastest vessels to sail the vast oceans that surround Galacia. Her current captain is the rakish scoundrel Luis Emerick. Captain Luis and his motley crew sail the seas in search of treasure, adventure, and opportunity.
