In summer a hike on the Kitzsteinhorn glacier is highly refreshing. The altitude of more than 3,000m means that the glacier is also snowy in the warm season. Starting from the Alpincenter 2450m to the geologically fascinating rock formations at the foot of the Tristinger mountain and the Rettenwand. Our walk leads from the viewpoint at the Graswandkreuz via the Gletscherblick Panorama walking path back to the Alpincenter. Stretch your legs, breathe fresh air, and fall under the spell of the mountains. There’s nothing quite like the workout you’ll get on a mountain trail! Enjoy the outdoors, rejuvenate your body and soul. Once you've returned to the green valley you can take a dip in the Zeller lake. We were high up in the Alps at the mountain range of the Kitzsteinhorn at elevation of 2450 meter. There is nothing anywhere that quite compares to the elegant forms of the peaks of the Kitzsteinhorn! At first glance, the jagged silhouettes of these mountains might suggest that they are more the realm of mountaineers than of hikers. But amidst the jaw-dropping splendor of peaks winds a network of trails that caters to the full range of hiking abilities. Stroll along paths that traverse ridgetops high above tree-line where 360-degree panoramas of a sea of peaks await. Photo of the Krefelder Hutte. The Krefeld Hütte is a tip for skiers, hikers and climbers who love the simple and cozy. It is situated on the Monte Cavallo, to the north under the Schmiedinger Kees, in the midst of the all-year ski area Kitzsteinhorn, 2300 m above sea level with uninterrupted views of Zell am See.
Wintersporters zijn verzot op het Kitzsteinhorn gletsjerskigebied, zijn grootte, verscheidenheid & sneeuwgarantie 365 dagen per jaar. Met de Gletscherbahnen Kaprun kunt u van het dalstation op 911m hoogte de top van de Kitzsteinhorn tot op een hoogte van over 3.000 m per kabelbaan bereiken. In de zomer kun je prachtige wandeltochten maken met het alpincenter 2450m als uitgangspunt. Wandelen op de Kitzsteinhorn, Schmittenhöhe, Tristinger of Maiskogel is een ware belevenis. Oostenrijk is het land bij uitstek voor het beoefenen van Alpinisme. Zowel fanatieke bergbeklimmers als rookies zijn op hun plaats in de Oostenrijkse Alpen. Terwijl het voor de ervaren klimmers niet steil en hoog genoeg kan, is voor toeristen het volgen van smalle bergpaadjes langs de bergrichel al een hele ervaring. De frisse berglucht, de kletterende watervallen en de rijke flora en fauna zijn slechts enkele van de redenen om voor National Park Hohe Tauern te kiezen. De hoger gelegen wandelingen zijn eenvoudig te bereiken via de bergliften die ’s zomers tot de beschikking staan van wandelaars en natuurliefhebbers. Tijdens de wandeltochten kun je op verschillende plaatsen een berghut of restaurant aandoen om even bij te tanken. De Krefeld Hütte is een tip voor skiërs, wandelaars en klimmers die houden van het eenvoudig en gezellig. Het is gelegen op de Monte Cavallo, in het noorden onder de Schmiedinger Kees, in het midden van het hele jaar door skigebied Kitzsteinhorn, 2300 m boven de zeespiegel met een ononderbroken uitzicht op Zell am See. We were so high up that we could barely hear the ground assault.

What a view, I think, trying to look out instead of down. Vulture droids decorate the evening sky, and a light wind drowns out every noise in the vicinity.
Except for the noise of my squad.
“I scuffed some yellow off my arm during the climb,” Checkmate whines.
“This new paint just doesn’t hold up,” Habit agrees. “I think they changed the ingredients.”
“But it’s more vibrant now,” I say.
Clawdite shuts off his comm device and then joins us.
“I’ve checked in with Breacher squad,” he says. “Now we wait.”
He does a double-take at Checkmate’s arm. “Did you scuff my paint job?”
“It’s the new paint,” Checkmate says. “Habit said so.”
“Yeah,” Habit says. “They changed the ingredients.”
“But it’s so much brighter now!” Clawdite snaps.
I throw my hands up in validation. “Exactly.”
We get quiet. There’s something in the distance . . . Marching.
I peer between a stack of crates and see a small patrol of battle droids.
One of their heads jerks in our direction. “Hey, what’s that?”
“I don’t see anything,” another answers.
“Over there; the bright yellow.”
Habit and Checkmate exchange a look.
Once the droids are within a few meters of our hiding spot, we roll a handful of droid poppers along the ground toward them. Sizzling fills the air, and they collapse.
Then the bickering starts.
“I wonder how they saw us,” Habit says, like he doesn’t know exactly how.
Clawdite and I shake our heads.
“We’re never hearing the end of this,” I say.

The first of my long exposures project on Dungeness beach. Fortunately the weather was near perfect with a strong wind to get the cloud movement. I used a 10 stop nd filter plus a 2 stop nd grad.

We were in Newport to watch my oldest son run a half marathon this weekend. This morning on the beach, I found a sight I have never seen before...rows and rows of formations from the wind. Some looked just like space ships, others were spinning tops, mushrooms, pottery. It was quite a sight!!! and my son was first in his division! a fun weekend with my son, his wife and my two oldest grandkids. oh and my husband too!

The Canela Wind Power Park is one of the dozens of wind power parks placed aside to the Route 5 Norte, in the northern region of Coquimbo (between the cities of Santiago and La Serena, 472 Kms. by car from Santiago -5 hours-), creating fully renewable energy that Enel Green Power (owner of this facility) enters to the chilean electric grid system as part of the effort that Chile (between the Government and Private Companies) are doing for increase Non Conventional Renewable Power as part of their energy generation.

Wow. It's been quite a while since I've done a selfie just for shits and giggles. Not sure what brought on the urge today, but maybe I'm subconsciously trying to grab onto something familiar at the moment.
There has been a lot going on in my world over the past few months, not the least of which being the tragic and gut-wrenching loss of my sweet kitty, Samson. He was my baby for ten and a half years. At the end of February, he was diagnosed with cancer. He underwent surgery to remove a tumor, and went through one round of chemotherapy, with the hopes of giving him a shot at good quality of life for possibly up to another year. But in the end, the cancer was just too aggressive. I was forced to say goodbye to my baby one month after the diagnosis. I'm still coming to grips with the loss. Whoever described grief as being like the ocean and going from calm one moment to suddenly stormy and overwhelmingly thrashing with waves - spot on. I think about him every day and still constantly feel the gaping hole where he's supposed to be.
I guess that loss may have primed me a bit for our next bit of change. We're in the process of moving to Des Moines, Iowa. I'm looking forward to the new adventure, but I'm understandably anxious about moving to a city I've never set foot in before. But because of everything that's happened here in the last year, I feel ready for a fresh start. I think I just need to go somewhere without so many memories and build some new happiness, you know?
Anyway, hi there. Not sure I'm a fan of the new flickr. Not wholly opposed - still trying to adjust. I kind of like some of the new features, but overall, the homepage just kind of feels like flickr is screaming at me every time I log on. Turn off your caps lock, flickr. We're not all part of the ADHD generation. Sometimes simpler is better.
So yeah. There's a whole lot more fairly heavy crap that I've been dealing with as well, but while I sometimes miss the daily outlet here, I'm also pretty comfortable with keeping some of my world limited to existing...well, in the real world. Offline. That doesn't mean I don't miss a whole hell of a lot of you guys. Hope everybody is hanging in there and doing amazing things.
I have been reunited with my Volvo, having lent it to a friend of mine. This allowed me to (finally) take this picture of all of my wind turbine transport vehicles.

"Wow". First words I said this morning. I went to shoot this photo a little earlier, I would have gotten a much better shot, cos it was magnificent when the sun came up. Unfortunately I was on tower duty, so had to wait until I got my relief. I should thank my sup for giving me the ride during the routine rwy inspection check.
There was no wind this morning. Been like this since yesterday.
