Wild horses in Sand Wash Basin, Colorado. Spring 2017.
"Since humans first huddled around campfires, stories have been told of wild horses with wind in their manes, fire in their eyes and freedom in their hearts. Those horses eluded capture, and scorned the comforts of civilization. Americans have insisted they want their wild horses to live that way, forever."
— Terri Farley
I did a bit of exploring while heading home from Death Valley this past Thanksgiving weekend. The area around Panamint lake always intrigued me. Last year I took a quick look through the remnants of Ballarat. This time I made a left turn off Panamint Valley onto Indian Ranch road. The lake still had a bit of water left over from summer monsoons, and I noticed quite a bit of greenery around the back of the lake. It turned out to be a heavy Mesquite thicket. I thought it may be a good place to find some wildlife to photograph so I grabbed my D7000 and 80-400mm and headed out. First thing I noticed was a maze of narrow trails and very small hoof prints. I wondered through for 30 minutes and didn't see a thing. I was thinking, wild Pigs or maybe Goat.
It was getting kind or eerie seeing nothing around. As I was returning to my Jeep, I saw some irregular shapes up the canyon. Looking through my lens, I finally solved the secret of the trails, yep...Wild Donkey!
I was pretty excited, since I had never seen them in the wild before.
So, If you ever want to get some shots of Wild Burrow...head out to Panamint lake!
An expanse of wild garlic sweeping through Hammerdown Wood at West Yatton Down. This was taken on a local bike ride using my mobile phone.
I photographed this wild flower head in the conservation area of the village church. I positioned myself so that I captured the "dandelion type" seed head behind it to give the effect of a halo. Or maybe its having a smoke! 29-06-10

I think these were just coming into ripeness, and I was tempted to try some, but didn't want to go falling into the ditch that was here, so just licked my lips, and took the shot, and went on my way. Blackberries are one of our favorite berries, and we make cobbler at least once a year with the wild ones we pick. We haven't gotten any this year, so don't know if we'll have the wild ones, but I may buy canned ones at the store, so we at least keep the tradition alive. May you find sweetness in your life, and may you enjoy it all year long. God bless you my friends.

Wild horses live freely in the plateau "Kruzi" under the mountain Cincar, in Livno municipality, Bosnia and Herzegovina.
I thought the colors were too vivid for the quiet beauty of this wild rose so I tried it in mono with a warm filter....
Spiegelman, Art (Artist) & March, Joseph Moncure (Author). WILD PARTY. New York City, NY: Pantheon, 1994. Hardcover. First Edition Thus/First Printing. 111 pages. Fine/Fine Dust Jacket. ISBN 0679424504. ID-10654.
Artist Book. New rendition of the modernist classic. One of the cult American literary titles of the 20th century. The First Hardcover Edition. Precedes and should not be confused with all other subsequent editions.
A stunning production by Art Spiegelman: Regular-sized volume format. Pictorial hard boards with titles embossed on cover and spine, as issued. Art by Art Spiegelman. Text by Joseph Moncure March. Printed on thick coated stock paper in the United States to the very highest standards. In matching pictorial DJ with titles on the cover and spine, as issued.
Presents and revives a lost masterpiece in a completely new Artist Book-format that showcases the dazzling graphic art of Art Spiegelman.
"A poem that can make even readers with no time for poetry stop dead in their tracks. It is repulsive and fascinating, vicious and vivacious, uncompromising, unashamed, and unremittingly powerful. An amazing tour-de-force" (Louis Untermeyer).
"It's the book that made me want to be a writer" (William S. Burroughs).
Only Spiegelman could have done justice to it, and his visual interpretation is a "must-have" edition of the work. This title has been out-of-print as a hardcover for a very long time even though it went into multiple subsequent printings and is now highly collectible.
This is one of very few copies of the First Edition still available online and is in especially fine condition: Clean, crisp, and bright, a beauty. A rare copy. One of the finest American poets interpreted by one of the greatest graphic artists of the 20th century. A fine collectible copy.
Best known for his Pulitzer Prize-winning graphic novel memoir, MAUS, which tells his Polish-Jewish parents' Holocaust survival story, Art Spiegelman has covered a wide range of topics. His books have found their way into many formats--from New Yorker cover illustrations to Garbage Pail kid cards to underground strips like "Young Lust." A prodigious talent with an appropriately diverse and poignantly humorous style.
