A logan is formed when a river has switched paths leaving the old section as an offshoot of the new. You can see wild rice growing along the edge of the water.
These wild flowers were captured by my wife on our hike to lower south falls in Silver Falls State Park OR.
When the wild horses call my name
Strength of those manes shake my soul
Freedom from this flesh covered cage
From the pedestrian moments I call home
Blinking, blinking through frost-tinted fantasies
The pounding hooves upon the plains rattle my sanity
The usual universe is losing its grip on me
Too exhausted am I of listening to the repetition
When the wild horses call my name
I know my time is almost near
Not to die a death of the masses
But to be rebirthed into the wholeness of myself
Falling, falling from uniformity to join the ranks
The missing Lost Boys with souls filled with freedom
No regretting the past, or fearing the future
Just live today, be today, feel today

Neighing from white bodies spotted brown with the dirt of independence
Into the yellow-blue sky they call for me
East or North they fly tommorow

Sometimes you are in the right place at the right time with your camera. This photo of 3 Toms in full display looking over two hens seems to say, "Who's gonna be the odd man out?" Taken in the Crab Orchard National Wildlife Refuge in southern Illinois
A great days walk on the Ochil hills, taking in Ben Cleuch and Ben ever, before finishing of with a walk through the woods in Alva.....the sun was out, the birds were singing, the aroma of the wild garlic.....just a perfect day.
Time to create art again! Have surfed trough my archive of generative arts. Really like this engine, so used it again. Make up your mind for new stuff soon!

The city is a historic mining settlement founded in 1859 during the Pike's Peak Gold Rush and came to be known as the "Richest Square Mile on Earth". Central City and the adjacent city of Black Hawk form the federally designated Central City/Black Hawk Historic District. On May 6, 1859, during the Pike's Peak Gold Rush, John H. Gregory found a gold-bearing vein (the Gregory Lode) in Gregory Gulch between Black Hawk and Central City. Within two months many other veins were discovered, including the Bates, Gunnell, Kansas, and Burroughs.[10] By 1860, as many as 10,000 prospectors had flocked to the town, then known as Mountain City,[11] and surrounding prospects, but most soon left, many returning east.[12] The 1900 census showed 3,114 people.

Some days it's just difficult to take a picture, thanks goodness flowers are everywhere right now...it makes it a bit easier. Taken on a quick, early morning dog walk to the lake.

After a long journey two drunken cowboys derailed locomotive in the desert.
Last station is also the last day of their lives.
In early November of 2015, the BLM aimed to gather wild horses from the Beaty Butte Management Area. The remote southern Oregon location is 65 miles east of Lakeview and adjacent to the Hart Mountain National Wildlife Refuge.
The Beaty Butte herd is estimated to have 1,200 wild horses, six times the designated management level. The goal of this gather is to maintain the natural ecological balance of the range.
On Day 2 of the gather, Nov. 5, Fred Woehl, chairman of the National Wild Horse and Burro Advisory Board, visited the site and spoke with students from Adel and Plush schools.

Wild plums and choke cherries are the most abundant wild fruit in our area. Sadly, the plums have been weakened by fire blight for the last 3 or 4 years, and many only produce some sort of inedible changeling that never ripens up, instead rotting and falling off in a macabre fruit monster way. Maybe this year the blight will start going away?
Here's to more cheerful thoughts about the fruit crop for critters
