After the fires at Sepulveda Basin Wildlife Reserve, the wild flowers this year are outstanding ! There are loads of wild roses, tons of california poppies, yellow daisies, blue lupins and an array of other flowers.

We walked from Capel Curig to Llyn Cowlyd through to the Ogwen Valley and back to Capel Curig. During our walk we saw a number of wild Carneddau ponies. This particular pony posed very nicely for us; as for his collegues, well they were a little bit more shy.
If the last ten years is any indication, most of the people I know have either had Thanksgiving in October, don't have Thanksgiving at all; or are taking the day off anyway.
To those of you who don't know what a Wild Turkey looks like, this tom made advances at me 12 years ago on Mt. Diablo during mating season. By the time I had the camera to my eye, he was too close to get his full, beautiful display. Consider this a portrait of a missing snood, black beard, blue head, caruncles, and a wattle.

Walking a nature trail in Ottawa I decided to put on my very old Takumar 135/3.5 preset. A bunch of wild turkeys come walking down the trail. So this is one of the better pics I got using a MF lens. Oh and I hadn't noticed that my thumb moved the iso from Auto to 8000. Thanks Topaz software.
Southern Alps, New Zealand.
The Southern Alps (Māori: Kā Tiritiri o te Moana) are a mountain range extending along much of the length of New Zealand's South Island, reaching its greatest elevations near the island's western side.
The range runs 500 km north to south. The tallest peak is Aoraki / Mount Cook, the highest point in New Zealand at 3,724 metres (12,218 ft) and there are sixteen other points that exceed 3,000 metres (9,800 ft) in height. The mountains are cut through with glacial valleys and lakes.
The Southern Alps lie along a geological plate boundary, part of the Pacific Ring of Fire, with the Pacific Plate to the southeast pushing westward and colliding with the northward-moving Indo-Australian Plate to the northwest.

Unlike the local authorities that seem to be senselessly hacking every wild and wonderful flower down, the farmers are at least leaving huge areas to get on with it and thrive. Well done to them as not only is it stunning, but it's attracting lots of lovely birds and insects. Whilst walking through this beautiful field near Rye I was lucky enough to see so many birds, bumble bees, butterflies and dragon flies. Mother Nature at her best and it lifted my spirit again :-)

I love being able to photograph ponies and horses free of bridles and saddles, and was lucky enough to find a small herd of wild ponies right on the top of the Penmaenmawr quarry. Their habitat has the most amazing views in every direction.
