Our road trip up the California coast is less than a week away. Hooray!
I am going to bring only two cameras, my 5DII and my Mamiya C33. Scotty still thinks it's one too much. Does anyone else have a non-photographic spouse who isn't so fond of how much time you spend shooting little details? He's tolerant… to a limit. Thank goodness I'll have Lara, my oldest roommate from Montreal traveling with us. They'll hopefully keep each other company through any potential slow-downs. Incidentally, all of our birthdays fall within two weeks of one-another, so this is our gift to ourselves. :D
Still up for a meet-up with anyone who's around, or who can suggest any secret spots for us to explore!
Ipomoea indica, commonly known as Blue Morning Glory, is a climbing perennial plant in the family Convolvulaceae. Native to tropical and subtropical regions, it is known for its vibrant blue to purple flowers. It thrives in seasonally dry tropical climates and can grow vigorously, often covering large areas if not controlled.

Just felt like a fox day. An oldie. I do see foxes on my night cam but it is a long time since I have seen one here in daylight :-( I keep hoping.
Wild Perennial Lupine (Lupinus perennis) is a showy native wildflower that blooms in late spring with spikes of blue and bluish-purple flowers. This species must be planted in a sandy soil where it will pull nitrogen from the air and enrich the soil that surrounds it. Once established, it will naturalize, attracting bees, birds, butterflies, and hummingbirds.

Vestrahorn on a windy afternoon, 60 mph+ and the black sand blowing everywhere. A very wild end to the day with very little light hence hand held at 1/8th of a second.
Sometimes up is down and left is right. Follow the light.
I didn’t realize I had posed a different version of this in Jan. I was undecided about what to post this morning and this caught my mood.
Twenty-fourth in the series ‘Wild Bonsai’, this tree is thirty-five inches (0.9m) in height and perhaps 600 years old.
'Wild Bonsai' is a numbered collection of photos of naturally occurring bristlecones (p. longaeva) generally less than five feet in height (1.5m) and - as nearly as I can estimate - between fifty and five-hundred years old - some much older. Most will have sprouted and survived in tiny cracks and crevases or miniature basins of sand and gravel. Shaped by the elements, flourishing tenaciously in the most minimalist of conditions, their lives are measured not in the millennia of more robust bristlecones, but in centuries...often mere decades.
'Duality', the cover photo for this album, is to me a matriarch of sorts and will remain unnumbered as a small token of a deeply intuitive and unapologetic respect that remains as transcendent and mysterious to me as it may seem odd to others. The essay that accompanies 'Duality' could, in many ways, apply as well to any other tree I may post in this series.
A perspective: Housed in the Tokyo Imperial Palace, the fifth oldest living cultivated bonsai in the world is something over 500 years old and is a designated National Treasure of Japan.

For Macro Mondays theme: "Details from my neighborhood." I must admit that this theme presented a challenge, since I am surrounded by nothing but millions of acres of forest. But it was fun looking for subject matter. HMM to all of the talented photographers in this group. I am always amazed at your work.

Another belly shot on the yoga mat. Elbow tripod. No coffee this time– a tad windy.
Closer to the original RAW shot with the umbellifer seed head measuring about 1.5 inches/ 3.8 cm. Just muted a bit using curves.
Experimenting. Fun to learn how to adjust hues using curves adjustment layers. I used one of these basic YouTube videos:

After growing up on our garden pond they become very tame, but they usually only stay around till about October when they head off into the wilds !!

Wild geese came ashore to feed.
Their “teeth” are discernible (not real teeth, but tomium: hard, spiky cartilage made from the beak).

UNDER ATTACK…
Spotted this beauty but when I looked closer I saw all the movement of the furry caterpillars.
They were slowly eating this bush of gorgeous pink wild Roses.
Notice they are single roses.
When I went back two months later, they had metamorphosed into rose-bottles
