I helped launch the EveryBlock Widget feature in August 2010.
More here: blog.everyblock.com/2010/08/03/widget/
Snip:
Today we’re launching a new feature that we think will really help local news sources provide content and context to their readers: the EveryBlock Widget.
If you have neighborhood blog, newspaper Web site, or any other online resource for local news, The EveryBlock Widget is for you.
You choose one of 16 EveryBlock cities, type in a location, choose the types of content you’d like to see, and we give you HTML code you can copy and paste into your blog or site template.
You can show news at an exact address, a block-radius around an address, a specific neighborhood, or an entire ZIP code. You can tweak it to show just crime, or just crime and building permits, and so on. You can also choose exactly which media sources you’d like to display.
Here is Julie and Widget after his bath. He was kind enough to splash around to keep Julie cool on this hot day.
It all looks fine, but if there's a reply it shows that too and it stretches over the widget below.
I want a way to constrain the maximum length of the widget.
The MyVox widget was an important development for VoodooVox; it's the first consumer-facing application they developed. I worked with the COO to figure out the complex user flows (from web to phone to web!), and I worked with an engineer to figure out the web functionality. I designed the layout and graphics in Photoshop and then Flash. The executive team and the end consumers (teens on MySpace and other networking sites) were pleased with the usability of this feature-packed widget.
