Prior to the beginning of the S18 schedule, trying to find Delta's large fleet of Airbus A330s has been a bit of a struggle... In this instance, Airbus A330s were hard to come at Heathrow following Northwest Airlines and Delta Air Lines merger. Of course, when Northwest and Delta finally had access to Heathrow, their operation lasted a good year before Boeing 767s became the standard.

Fast forward 8 years since the last time Delta and Northwest sent in Airbus A330s on a regular basis, they are back and are providing 5 flights a day out of a possible 9. Their introduction comes as Delta closely aligns itself with Virgin Atlantic in terms of product offering, and dare I say, Delta offers an infinitely better product interior on their Airbus A330s.

The smaller Airbus A330-200s provide 27 weekly flights out of a 35 that are operated generally by Airbus A330s. The A330-200s operate the twice daily flights from New York-JFK, single daily flight from Atlanta and 6 times weekly flights from Detroit. The Airbus A330-300s provides another daily flight from Atlanta, as well as one weekly flight from Detroit.

It is not uncommon for the Airbus A330-300s to deputise for the smaller Airbus A330-200s, and its vice versa for the Airbus A330-200s deputising for the larger sibling. Airbus A330-300s often deputise on the second daily flight from Atlanta, as well as from New York.

Currently, Delta Air Lines operates 42 Airbus A330s, which includes 11 Airbus A330-200s and 31 Airbus A330-300s. Delta have 25 Airbus A330-900neos on-order.

Some more progress but lots left to do! TFL!

First time making a built-in shelf and bay window/window seat:)

The new flagship long-haul aircraft in Delta Air Lines fleet; gone are the Boeing 747-400s and Boeing 777-200ER/LRs, and hello to the Airbus A350-900s for which the carrier has already raked up a sizeable fleet since first taking delivery of their first example back in 2017.

Pre-pandemic, Delta's plans were for the initial order of 25 Airbus A350-900s to operate alongside their Boeing 777-200ER/LRs which had just been refurbished... Of course, COVID-19 paid dividends to that plan and instead the Airbus A350-900s provide the majority of Delta's major long-haul flights. Today, the carrier has 24 Airbus A350-900s in its fleet with a further 20 more aircraft on-order.

When Delta announced they would acquire a 20% share in LATAM Airlines Group in 2019, with Delta assuming purchase rights for a further 10 Airbus A350-900s. Roll-over to 2020 where LATAM announced they will be retiring their entire Airbus A350-900 fleet with Delta Air Lines agreeing to acquire the 9 examples already delivered to their Brazilian-subsidiary. The fleet began the process of being transferred over to Delta in 2021 and would officially operate in service for the S22 schedule primarily from their Atlanta hub to Dublin, Los Angeles and Santiago.

The former LATAM Airbus A350-900s can be denoted by featuring registrations N57*DZ; only 3 have entered so far having been repainted into Delta's livery albeit retain their LATAM interiors awaiting full refurbishment to the same standard as Delta's own Airbus A350-900s. 4 examples are currently in storage undergoing modifications prior to entry into service, whilst a further 2 have yet to officially join the Delta fleet.

Very recently, Delta has been the subject to industry insider rumours that they are looking to acquire 20 of the larger Airbus A350-1000s, which wouldn't come as a huge surprise given Delta are a very loyal Airbus customer.

Indeed, it is nice to see Delta's newest wide-body fleet... Now just to find their Airbus A330-900neos!

Currently, Delta Air Lines operates 24 Airbus A350s, all of which are Airbus A350-900s. Delta Air Lines have 20 Airbus A350-900s on-order.

November Five Seven Five Delta Zulu is one of 24 Airbus A350-900s operated by Delta Air Lines, initially to be delivered new to LATAM Airlines Brasil on lease from AerCap but not taken up, diverting on long-term lease to Qatar Airways as A7-AQB on 24th July 2019 before returning back to LATAM Airlines Brasil on 30th July 2020 as PR-XTK, however it never entered service with the Brazilian-carrier, instead being acquired by Delta Air Lines on lease from AerCap on 22nd June 2021 and she is powered by 2 Rolls-Royce Trent XWB-84 engines.

23rd June 2016 will go down in history for the United Kingdom being the first country within the European Union choosing the vote to leave. Since the vote, it has had a lasting impact... The UK now has a new Prime Minister and the second female Prime Minister since Margaret Thatcher's tenure which ended in 1990, The Right Honorable Theresa May MP, currently holds the constituency seat for Maidenhead.

Away from all the political changes, the UK's vote to leave the European Union has undoubtedly made a number of airlines nervous which are susceptible to changing political and economy status.

Delta Air Lines have been the first international carrier to be publicly vocal since the Brexit vote... A number of media articles have since stated that Delta is willing to scrap a number of flights to the UK following the vote plus the British Pound's plummeting value.

According to the Independent, "Delta has decided to reduce 6 points of US-UK capacity from its winter schedule." Delta's decision to take action comes as no surprise, the airline is the smallest US carrier to have a presence in the UK, even with its 49% stake in Virgin Atlantic. American holds the biggest amount of capacity with 6.2%; thanks to its close partnership with British Airways, United holds 5.3% and Delta holding 2.7% of capacity.

What sort of cuts remains to be seen... All depends on whether individual flights will be reduced, or whether bigger aircraft will be swapped with smaller examples.

Delta currently operates the largest Boeing 767 fleet in the world with 91 in service, which includes 12 Boeing 767-300's, 58 Boeing 767-300ER's and 21 Boeing 767-400ER's.

Back on 29th March 2014; Delta became the second airline to muscle in on flights between London Heathrow and Seattle operating daily (DL36/37), the direct flights competed against British Airways who operated more regular flights, now 12 times a week.

In 2016, it was announced that Delta would no longer operate between London Heathrow and Seattle owing to lower passenger load factors against British Airways. Whilst Delta would be ending flights between London Heathrow and Seattle, Virgin Atlantic would take-over responsibility of flights between London Heathrow and Seattle, once again operating daily (VS105/106) utilising Boeing 787-9's.

Whilst Virgin Atlantic will compete against British Airways to Seattle, Delta from the 26th May 2017 will shortly begin flights between London Heathrow and Portland, Oregon (DL36/37) on a 4 times weekly basis utilising Boeing 767-300ER's.

Currently, Delta operates a significantly large Boeing 767 fleet with 83 in service, which includes 4 Boeing 767-300's, 58 Boeing 767-300ER's and 21 Boeing 767-400ER's.

I did this pic some years ago, of a wonderful dog I used to look after a lot, when I lived in London. He was called Widget. He looked like a Tibetan Terrier, but in truth was a Heinz 57 rescue. He was the most sociable dog I've ever met - lovely with people, lovely with other dogs - and I adored him to bits ♥

Finally it seems, Delta Air Lines has got round to fully changing it schedules into London Heathrow... With Delta in the process of withdrawing their oldest Boeing 767-300ER's next year, their Airbus A330's will begin to replace them on select flights, notably on flights across the Atlantic.

Delta's flights operating into London Heathrow will feature the most significant changes, not least due to impending fleet withdrawals but also better product alignment with partner, Virgin Atlantic.

As previously mentioned, these changes are as follows:

-Atlanta: Effective 24th March 2018, Boeing 767-300ER's will be replaced by a mixture of Airbus A330-200/300's. DL30/31 will be operated by Airbus A330-300's, whilst DL32/33 operated by Airbus A330-200's. Delta's reservation system no longer shows their 3rd daily flight (DL28/29) available for booking.

-Detroit: Effective 24th March 2018, DL16/17 will be operated by Airbus A330-200's instead of Boeing 767-300ER's. Selected flights will be operated by Airbus A330-300's on Fridays (Saturdays from London Heathrow).

-New York-John F. Kennedy: Effective from 25th March 2018, frequency reduces from thrice daily to twice daily operation, replaced by Virgin Atlantic's 6th daily flight (VS153/154). Delta's reservation system now shows Airbus A330-200's operating instead of Boeing 767-300ER's. DL3/403 removed from reservations and renumbered DL2/402.

Delta have at long last got round to changing its schedule for their twice daily flight between London Heathrow and New York-John F. Kennedy. The changes have taken over a week until now to be uploaded into the reservation system. Currently, both Atlanta and Detroit schedules remain the same as per previous update, however it has become more clear as to which select flights from Detroit will be operated by Airbus A330-300's.

Currently, Delta operates a large Boeing 767 fleet with 82 in service, which includes 3 Boeing 767-300's, 58 Boeing 767-300ER's and 21 Boeing 767-400ER's.

Brick wall:

I LOVE brick walled interiors so I knew I would eventually make a roombox with a brick wall and Widget was perfect for a room like this. I didn't find any I liked so decided to make my own. I used self adhesive cork scrapbook paper. I painted the sheets in 3 different colors and left one blank. After that, I cut them in strips and then into rectangular pieces. Lastly, I stuck them on...piece by piece on the entire back wall. It was soooo time consuming but sooo worth it because I love how it came out:) TFL

Being honest, probably the main reason why Amsterdam was visited once more was because since the merger of Northwest Airlines and Delta, Delta has been sending in their inherited Boeing 747-400's once again throughout the Summer 2015 schedule.

Delta has been using their fleet of Boeing 747's on trans-pacific flights, notably from its Tokyo-Narita hub, plus operating regularly from Detroit and Atlanta. For the summer schedule, Delta has been sending their Boeing 747-400's over the Atlantic to Amsterdam and Paris to provide extra capacity on key flights, however this is likely to be the last time they will see Delta Boeing 747's as they are to be withdrawn.

All of Delta's Boeing 747's were inherited from Northwest Airlines following the merger in October 2008. 16 Boeing 747-400's were inherited however 4 have now been withdrawn as the airline is looking to replace them with Airbus A350-900's. 2 examples have since been placed into long-term storage, 1 was heavily damaged following hail damage and is now stored, whilst one note-worthy airframe is to be preserved at the Delta Museum in Atlanta.

November Six Six Nine Uniform Sierra is one of 12 Boeing 747-400's remaining in service with Delta, delivered new to Northwest Airlines in August 1990 and leased from AT&T Capital Services. Delta's presence at Amsterdam Schiphol is certainly fascinating, the airline having gained the hub through its merger with Northwest Airlines back in 2008... To this day, Delta still retains its codeshare agreements with both Air France and KLM whereby the majority of North America flights are in the hands of Delta, but of course any Air France or KLM flight crossing the Atlantic to North America will feature codeshares through its joint-venture.

Delta's Amsterdam hub, which is one of two European hubs currently in operation by the airline sees 9 (8 all-year round and one seasonal) destinations served by the company all eminating from the United States, the main airframes used are their growing fleet of Airbus A330's but also in the hands of Boeing 767-300ER/400ER's.

Growing as ever, Delta's Airbus A330 fleet is impressive with the number currently standing at 35 which include, 11 Airbus A330-200's and 24 Airbus A330-300's. The company has 7 more Airbus A330-300's remaining on-order as well as an order for 25 Airbus A330-900neo's.

November Eight Zero Three November Whiskey is currently one of 24 Airbus A330-300's in service with Delta, originally delivered new to Northwest Airlines in September 2003 until transferring to Delta in October 2008 following the merger between the two company's. Could the revolution be at hand?

One of the most regular visitor into London Heathrow, Delta Air Lines out of its fleet of 21 Boeing 767-400ER's, the youngest of the member, N845MH has been carrying a pink version of Delta's normal livery, promoting The Breast Cancer Research Foundation to raise awareness about the illness.

She certainly brightens up the sky at a very overcast Heathrow, delivered new to Delta in April 2002, she has been carrying carrying the special Delta colour scheme since June 2010, originally the forward fuselage carried a pink ribbon with 'The Breast Cancer Research Foundation' adorned around the ribbon. The markings were revised in 2012 when the ribbon was removed (retained on the engines however) and now carries the name 'Evelyn Lauder' who founded the research foundation.

She has been carrying this livery for 4 years now, she certainly being the most interesting of Delta's 767-400ER fleet. She is powered by 2 General Electric CF6-80C2B7F engines.

A welcome return to Amsterdam and Schiphol Airport as a number of changes have taken place within the space of a year... For Delta, it is very much business as usual although the summer has seen some upgauges unsurprisingly, however Delta still sends around half a dozen A330's into the airport daily.

Speaking of Delta Airbus A330's, the number in use with the airline has increased thanks to the delivery of 3 Airbus A330-300's which have become the first examples delivered to a 242-tonne specification. The airline has 32 Airbus A330's that were inherited from Northwest Airlines from the merger in 2008, an additional order for 10 Airbus A330-300's were ordered by Delta along with a recent order for 25 Airbus A330-900neo's.

Currently, the fleet stands at 35 Airbus A330's, 11 on the Airbus A330-200 and 24 Airbus A330-300's. There is currently an outstanding order for 7 more Airbus A330-300's.

November Eight Zero One November Whiskey was the first Airbus A330 delivered new to Northwest Airlines in August 2003 before becoming part of the Delta Air Lines fleet in October 2008. She is powered by 2 Pratt & Whitney PW4168A engines.

Yay!

Another 767 departure by Delta, this one of the shorter 767-300ER's carrying the airline's smart Widget colour scheme.

Thankfully, Delta have a lot of 767's to play with 95 in total, with 74 on the -300 series (58 are the extended range -300ER) and 21 on the -400ER series.

The Heathrow to Atlanta flights which Delta corners this market uses a mix of 767's and the odd 777 excursion.

N179DN is a 23 year old veteran, delivered new to Delta in April 1991 powered by 2 Pratt & Whitney PW4060 engines. The airframe was fitted with blended winglets in June 2010 and has recently been given a new revised interior which was fitted back in January 2014.

With the W19 schedule now in full-swing, airlines are now in the midst of altering capacity towards the festive period and now making planned adjustments for the forthcoming S20 schedule. For Delta Air Lines, significant changes are taking place at London Heathrow which will see the return of Boeing 767-400ERs and the dwindling use of Airbus A330s.

At present, all of Delta's flights into London Heathrow are currently operated by Airbus A330s; although this is expected to change later in November 2019 as refurbished Boeing 767-400ERs begin to enter service on the following routes for the current W19 schedule:

-Atlanta: Boeing 767-400ERs to be utilised on DL30/31 and DL32/33 from 12th November 2019 and 2nd January 2020 respectively.

-Boston-Logan: Boeing 767-400ERs to be utilised on DL58/59 from 20th November 2019.

-New York-John F. Kennedy: Boeing 767-400ERs to be utilised on DL1/2 and DL3/4 from 16th November 2019 and 10th January 2020 respectively.

For the S20 schedule, Delta have already made further changes which will see expanded Boeing 767-400ER operation into London Heathrow... Effectively, all flights apart from one will utilise Boeing 767-400ERs into London Heathrow at some point during the duration of the S20 schedule. As per Airline Route, here are the following changes to Delta's schedule into London Heathrow:

-Detroit-Metropolitan Wayne County: DL16/17 will utilise Airbus A330-300s effective 29th March 2020 until being replaced by Boeing 767-400ERs from 21st May 2020.

-Minneapolis-St. Paul: DL10/11 will utilise Airbus A330-300s effective 29th March 2020 until being replaced by Boeing 767-400ERs from 21st May 2020.

-New York-John F. Kennedy: Effective 28th March 2020 sees the reinstatement of a 3rd daily flight utilising Boeing 767-400ERs.

-Portland: Seasonal daily DL36/37 commences two-weeks earlier than planned from 25th April 2020 utilising Boeing 767-400ERs.

-Salt Lake City: DL50/51 converts from Airbus A330-200 to Boeing 767-300ER operation from 28th March 2020 after being reintroduced from the W19 schedule on 1st January 2020.

It will be nice to see the return of Delta's Boeing 767-400ER fleet; the fleet was in huge need of refurbishment as they were amongst the first aircraft refurbished straight after the merger with Northwest Airlines. So far, only one aircraft has been refurbished with 4 currently away undergoing treatment.

Having said that, it will be sad to see Delta no longer utilising Airbus A330s after 2 years since they were reintroduced in the S18 schedule.

Currently, Delta Air Lines operates 46 Airbus A330s, which includes 11 Airbus A330-200s, 31 Airbus A330-300s and 3 Airbus A330-900s. Delta Air Lines have 33 Airbus A330-900s on-order.

November Eight Five Two November Whiskey is one of 11 Airbus A330-200s in service with Delta Air Lines, delivered new to Northwest Airlines on 23rd August 2004 before transferring to Delta Air Lines following the merger with the carriers on 29th October 2008 and she is powered by 2 Pratt & Whitney PW4168A engines.

The most aesthetically pleasing of the Boeing 767 family, the Boeing 767-400ER is one of the most common types to appear at London Heathrow... Just a shame however that the Boeing 767-400ER didn't sell in the huge numbers that we expected, although it had the length extended, the range however was not extended in comparison to other extended range Boeing 767's. In total, just 37 are in regular service with one additional example operated by Bahrain for VIP use.

Delta is the largest operator of the type, during the winter they send a number into Heathrow on flights from Atlanta, Boston, Detroit, Minneapolis and New York. During the summer on the other hand, Atlanta, Detroit and Minneapolis are operated by the type, with Boston and New York in the hands of their Boeing 767-300ER's.

United will bring back their Boeing 767-400ER's on a regular basis with 2 flights in the hands of the type between Newark and London during the summer... Not complaining either way!

Delta remains the largest operator of the Boeing 767 anywhere in the world, operating in total 93 examples which include 14 Boeing 767-300's, 54 Boeing 767-300ER's and 21 Boeing 767-400ER's.

November Eight Three One Mike Hotel was delivered new to Delta in September 2000 and she is powered by 2 General Electric CF6-80C2B7F engines. She earns the distinction for carrying a hybrid livery of the current colour scheme and the defunct colours prior to merger in July 2010, however gained the current colours fully in December 2010.

For Delta, London Heathrow will continue to see 767's operating on a regular basis and even the elongated but rare 767-400ER are exceptionally common on flights to New York-JFK, Boston, Atlanta, Detroit and Minneapolis.

I just finished the book "The Night Circus" by Erin Morgenstern on December 31st. It left me with a magical feeling I hope to carry with me through the year. Two of the characters are twins born at the circus, Widget and Poppet. I thought of this picture that came with a big lot of photos from ebay. I like the big lots, you never know what you will find.

Also a close up in the comments.

Since the S23 schedule which will shortly come to a close, there has been an increased presence relating to the Airbus A330neo into London Heathrow provided by Delta Air Lines, who have scheduled thrice-daily use of the type on 3 specific routes, and it is not uncommon for a 4th example to appear deputising for the Airbus A330-200/300 fleet.

The S23 schedule saw Delta Air Lines reintroduce direct flights between London Heathrow and Los Angeles, a route they last served until September 2015 with Boeing 767-300ERs; DL186/187 operates daily utilising Airbus A330-900s. In recent years, Los Angeles has become increasingly competitive from London Heathrow, not only with British Airways and American Airlines dominating, and United Airlines having been a stalwart as well as increasing the number of flights during the summer season, this just left Virgin Atlantic to pick up the slack for Delta Air Lines.

Delta Air Lines is the largest operator at Los Angeles with a 20% market share in the area, surpassing both American Airlines and United Airlines who both operate hubs in the city. In recent years, Delta Air Lines have expanded international flights to and from Los Angeles both on transpacific and transatlantic flights.

With the majority of the W23 schedule finalised, DL186/187 will continue to operate with Airbus A330-900s for the foreseeable future.

Currently, Delta Air Lines operates 65 Airbus A330s, which includes 11 Airbus A330-200s, 31 Airbus A330-300s and 23 Airbus A330-900s. Delta Air Lines have 16 Airbus A330-900s on-order.
