The star cluster Melotte 15 in the central region of the Heart Nebula, IC1805, in Cassiopeia.
The image is dominated by clouds of emitting hydrogen gas with dark dust lanes within.
The gas near the star cluster is sculpted into rope-like, contorted, and intricate pillar-like shapes and whisps. These features are believed to be as a result of stellar winds and intense radiation emanating from the young, hot stars, of Melotte 15.
Imaged in narrowband with my Esprit120ED and a ZWO 1600MM camera.
This is a further process of data that I acquired last year - but I have reprocessed centring on the central star cluster with its associated fascinating gas structures.

This is a re-upload of a previous photo with a different treatment. Ended up liking this black and white a lot more.

Busy ol' day today in the backyard raking and shovelling on a bluebird skies day ...
As the afternoon moved on high cloud moved in from the west leaving me hopeful for a fun end to the day..
After I'd packed up the gear, hobbled inside and cooked myself in a suitably hot showr, grabbed the gear and headed out to Bass Point ..
The cloud hadn't moved on thank goodness, inland wasn't looking so promising but you know 'Pays your money and takes your chances'. Sunset itself was unremarkable with Bob simply snuffed out - this was going to be one of those sunsets where you pack up the gear, walk back to the car only to have to rush back as the sky kicks on.
Sure enough there were some nice pink whisps to the far North - this is normally a good sign btw - .. then just like that this happened .. and kept on happening.
Hope you've had a great weekend folks !

An old picture which, as far as I can recall, was the vapour trail of a passing aircraft gradually dispersing
An exceedingly lucky shot! I heard them before I saw them. I wasn't even holding my camera at the time, but I grabbed it as fast as I could, swung in the general direction of their cries, and blasted the shutter. Quite a treat to see the result.
Morning brings the sounds of forest chimes, butterflies whisping here and there and soft crackling of sunshine rays. This morning was different.
I rose to my feet and darted toward the plundering glow.
Echoes of whispers pushed through my ears where I faintly heard:
“Don’t miss the faire, don’t miss the faire….”

Last glow or so it seemed .. this sunset surged a bit before the colour finally failed...

2018 was a good vintage for spouts. Colorado started it and AZ picked up the baton a couple months later. Near Cope, CO here. We were way out of position, focused on a cell further north. Landspout reports started coming in and I thought, great, more phantom whisps I’ll never manage to spot. We hustled south anyway and they kindly decided to start decloaking over fields of pure, dry, loose soil.
I often think that the night is more alive and more richly colored than the day.

In Stoos, that afternoon, the mountain seemed to hold its breath. The mist, dense and shifting, occasionally enveloped the church like a forgotten scarf. In front of the threshold, a group had formed. No stage, no microphones, but just voices, faces, wet coats. They sing for the light, and their voices weave a presence, a warmth, a memory. Here, the sacred doesn't impose itself; it whispers. And in this whisper, the landscape listens.
How happy is the blameless vestal's lot!
The world forgetting, by the world forgot.
Eternal sunshine of the spotless mind!
Each pray'r accepted, and each wish resign'd;
Labour and rest, that equal periods keep;
"Obedient slumbers that can wake and weep;"
Desires compos'd, affections ever ev'n,
Tears that delight, and sighs that waft to Heav'n.
Grace shines around her with serenest beams,
And whisp'ring angels prompt her golden dreams.
For her th' unfading rose of Eden blooms,
And wings of seraphs shed divine perfumes,
For her the Spouse prepares the bridal ring,
For her white virgins hymeneals sing,
To sounds of heav'nly harps she dies away,
And melts in visions of eternal day.

The Eyre range just outside Hopetoun. A good photographer would have absolutely ruled this particular morning.
Gentle rays kiss morning's dew,
Awakening the world anew.
A promise held in each bright beam,
Of hopes reborn and dreams redeemed.

A Heavenly Morning - One of the images taken on my recent trip to Dorset. I was lucky enough to have some amazing conditions - especially some wonderful lingering mist on my last morning there. This image is a lesson in always looking around for additional compositions. Its very easy to get distracted by the "main event" and miss an image unfolding just behind you!
In this case I was (of course!) shooting Corfe Castle, and happened to look around and noticed the waves of mist unfolding across Corfe Village. The tower of St Edwards Church was rising just above and casting lovely shadows through the mist, accompanied by whisps of smoke from a few chimneys as the village started to wake.
Its quite a gentle image - which I like, and the more you look at it, the more you see through the mist and notice all the details of the village!
Location: Witsand Beach, near Misty Cliffs.
Description: Yesterday afternoon I met up with Martin, Leon, Hendrik and Grea for a sunset photoshoot at one of my favourite photographic locations of all time… Witsand beach!
Although I have been known to chase away the clouds as soon as I appear with my D300… fortunately Leon is a cloud-magnet and ensured that we had a sky full of pretty puffs and nice white whisps! Thanks Leon… I really needed another dose of nephological action!!
This was one of my first photographs of the day… there are plenty more to come! :)

First attempt at catching the Milky Way. Taken at 3:30am from my back yard. The high level clouds were whisping by catching the reflection of city lights.
A second page of palimpsest. A Fairytale hinted at and probably realized by the right collision of light, still life and mood. Place the right objects together in a mythical shop window, wait for the right light to strike a certain inner chord and the barely audible whispers of story begin to flutter past the ear. Children know the magic of shop windows. Here, a whisp of Fairytale meets the urban scene. What magic can result?
