When I reached the spot in the bushes where a few of them had been washed away, I was able to see the sunset. I am not sure how much more of a story there is to this one. If you have your own story that the image tells you I would be curious as to what it is.

When I was posting this I asked my pup if she knew what it was a photo of. Being very clever, and able to count, but not a great speller, she replied woof woof ;)

Have a great week everyone!

When I posted this way back in 2007, it hit Explore, and I never did quite understand why. However, it doesn't seem to show up in my Explore history, so I have reworked it and posted it again. It was the most beautiful place - somewhere in the Catlins, I think...

When we grew up, images were telling stories and showing them. Now they’re all into selling. They’ve changed under our very eyes. They don’t even know how to do it anymore. They’ve plain forgotten. Images are selling out the world. And at a big discount :-)

A rooster crows only when it sees the light. Put him in the dark and he'll never crow. I have seen the light and I'm crowing.

One day the President and Mrs. Coolidge were visiting a government farm. Soon after their arrival, they were taken off on separate tours. When Mrs. Coolidge passed the chicken pens she paused to ask the man in charge if the rooster copulates more than once each day. "Dozens of times was the reply." "Please tell that to the President," Mrs. Coolidge requested. When the President passed the pens and was told about the roosters, he asked "Same hen every time?" "Oh no, Mr. President, a different one each time." The President nodded slowly, then said, "Tell that to Mrs. Coolidge."

When the ice recedes just a few meters from the shoreline of the lake here at my favorite local park lake, the male Common Goldeneyes come in from the nearby Saskatchewan River to claim their bit of open water to attract the females and fight off rivals.

This male was swimming close to a female, and went to this typical courtship pose when another male flew in nearby. The brown mass under his foot are the rump and tail feathers he twisted around while doing this.

I hope to get shots of the often spectacular battles between the males before things get sorted out.

When out for a bike ride last week I was delighted to see that a local farmer had planted a wildflower mix in the set-aside adjacent to his wheat crop.

Actually it was double delight since the only poppies that I had seen up to this point were some mega-sized cultivated ones in the sand dunes at Alnmouth which don't count as wildflowers in my book!

When I spotted this Egret, I immediately thought of bad boy Silvio Dante (Steven Van Zandt) on the TV Series “The Sopranos” and that somehow brought to mind Jim Croce's 1972 recording, "You Don't Mess Around with Jim"

You don't tug on Superman's cape

You don't spit into the wind

You don't pull the mask off that old lone ranger

And you don't mess around with Jim…

Thanks for the Music, Jim Croce

The Snowy Egret:

A beautiful, graceful small egret, very active in its feeding behavior in shallow waters. Known by its contrasting yellow feet, could be said to dance in the shallows on golden slippers. The species was slaughtered for its plumes in the 19th century, but protection brought a rapid recovery of numbers, and the Snowy Egret is now more widespread and common than ever. Its delicate appearance is belied by its harsh and raucous calls around its nesting colonies.

Adult Snowy Egrets are all white with a black bill, black legs, and yellow feet. They have a patch of yellow skin at the base of the bill. Immature Snowy Egrets have duller, greenish legs.

Snowy Egrets wade in shallow water to spear fish and other small aquatic animals. While they may employ a sit-and-wait technique to capture their food, sometimes they are much more animated, running back and forth through the water with their wings spread, chasing their prey.

Snowy Egrets nest colonially, usually on protected islands, and often with other small herons. They concentrate on mudflats, beaches, and wetlands, but also forage in wet agricultural fields and along the edges of rivers and lakes.

When it's wet and cloudy I prefer to shoot at night.

when its good its great

Ezekiel 7:25 “When anguish comes, they will seek peace, but there will be none.”

When I took this shot of a Short Eared Owl I didn't see the photographer in the back ground DSC_5645-HDR-2-1-CR

when one looks down....the Panorama Point......this is what one sees.....

if u look closely one can see the little train taking a "U" turn.......also one can see Vikat Gad here.

When I photographed this event three years ago, this shot was overlooked because the background was so busy with boat shed, docks and boat that the action was not well seen. Now, with extra time on my hands and better processing skills to clear the distracting background, the action is clear. That was one lucky trout and an unlucky Osprey.

Living in the country has its advantages. One of the great things is that there are many little backroads to explore and around each curve there is something new. On this warm Summer morning the dips and valleys have lite fog hovering just over the landscape.
