We have been having some cool cloud coverage here in the Springs. This was from last week. When it all cleared out, we had a little snow up on the peak
Anyone that's photographed at the Mach Loop know after a while when the jets aren't flying everyone takes photographs of anything else. The view from the Bwlch towards Cader Idris.
Cought in the middle of the rain at the top of the hill. The only option how to get back to the city was to wait till the storm stops. Spent my time taking pictures, drinking tea and eating biscuits.
Hehe.... Guess what I have in my hand? Yes, normally it could be a dirtyminded question, but today its not a joke ;-)
Today I bought a Canon 5D with grip etc. from a nice man called Palle. He has now my beloved 400D etc. He wanted a smaller cam to take with him, and I wanted the 5D-quality.
We were an excellent match until he suggested that I should give him money too... ;oD
Damn Darn Damn - OK, I said. And now I have it!
Shot me down - I can fly! ;o)

...so Now when my isolation is about to break I will have to cut the workload here, the schedule running each week has been
* 1 artwork a day 7 out of 7 days a week
* every second day a LEGO Vignette/scene (alternating on space/castle
* Every second day an image mostly photographic alternating between me and something that isn not me!
My planned new schedule will be:
* five artworks a week (skipping Saturday and Sunday )
* 1 Lego picture a week
* 1 other picture a week
* then some bonus picture and stories when I have time to spare...
I do not feel happy about my freedom, that is about working more browsing through every second-hand shop in town again... I have really enjoyed to work with more art than selling, still the isolation has almost completely drained my collection of stuff, basically I have only Memory stuff and lego left...
I wish I could afford to work like I have during the isolation, but still to get back to Vienna I need Money, I have been here in Sweden for a decade soon (or have I already) I miss my home!
Peace and Noise!
/ MushroomBrain going back to a work I do not love! (still it is far better than cleaning)
This little guy gets himself in trouble sometimes. I know he can hardly wait until he gets grown up and never has to have time out any more.

Remember When - Alan Jackson
Today when my mom and I arrived at the Carpinteria beach house, a baby seal was asleep in a striped beach chair on the porch. After a while it was obvious the pup wasn't moving much, and seemed lethargic, so we called the City of Carpinteria to ask for assistance. We were put in touch with Sylvia who recommended that we call the Santa Barbara Marine Mammal Center. In a short time Will from the center came and picked up the seal, said it was a yearling and very underweight. He told us that they will treat and care for him. He gave me their info so I could follow up on the pup and promised he would get good care.
This is what I've learned about the Santa Barbara Marine Mammal Center. It is a non-profit organization staffed entirely by volunteers and funded by private donations and grants. People from all walks of life give their time to help wildlife. Contributions are tax deductible and may be sent to Santa Barbara Marine Mammal Center, 389 N. Hope Ave., Santa Barbara, CA 913110 or call 805-687-3255 to learn about volunteering to help.
When I do count the clock that tells the time,
And see the brave day sunk in hideous night;
When I behold the violet past prime,
And sable curls, all silvered o'er with white;
When lofty trees I see barren of leaves,
Which erst from heat did canopy the herd,
And summer's green all girded up in sheaves,
Borne on the bier with white and bristly beard,
Then of thy beauty do I question make,
That thou among the wastes of time must go,
Since sweets and beauties do themselves forsake
And die as fast as they see others grow;
And nothing 'gainst Time's scythe can make defence
Save breed, to brave him when he takes thee hence.
William Shakespeare (1564-1616), Sonnet XII
When I wasn't in the kitchen cooking, I was chasing my 1-year old granddaughter with the camera. The best photo ops happened when we could get her to sit for a second on the little wooden bench seat. Otherwise, she was on the run!

When I was in junior high school in the late 80s, I had a Kodak Disk camera.
If it wasn't this model, it was very similar to it -- I remember the flip-down cover plate, the flash that would pop out to the side, and the bevelled shutter button. A cousin had the chrome version, but mine was black plastic like this.
At the time, it seemed very svelte and handy. In hindsight, it must have been both larger and heavier than, say, the original Firewire iPod models, the picture quality was never very good (but what the heck, I was 12 years old), and it was no fun being limited to 15 frames when other cameras then could do double that (nevermind how many images will fit today on a 2gb SD memory card, plus video too, and at much higher quality, and oh yeah no developing fees either).
I recently came across a pack of photos I took in the late 80s, and now that I have a scanner, I'll try to put some of the pictures up.

This photo ran with Wired.com's GeekDad blog, July 22, 2009: 100 Things Your Kids May Never Know About.
I was cool with this at the time.
Then I realized that they're using the photo in house ads on all of Wired's articles.
The photo is clearly set with "some rights reserved", and if you click through to the Creative Commons license, it clearly says that I am not permitting commercial usage (like house ads) or derivative works (like slapping a Wired logo on it).
Surely Wired, of all people, should understand these things.
Apparently not though.

UPDATE: I promptly got an email & a call back from wired.com's Editor-in-chief, who was very reasonable about the whole thing. More to come, but it looks like this will have a fair resolution.

After a long day with long boarding I decided to go out and make some photos. This image wasn't the original idea but I found it a lot more powerful and strong than the other picture that I made. I'm very happy about this one! I love the bokeh and the orange colors in the background! Also my pose and the little flame is cool!
Btw. I'm back and home again after 3 weeks in France!

Another couple, another story, which I humbly leave to your own imagination. I wondered what they might not be talking about.

when i first saw the tin cover to the new castle arts Harmonious pencils i just loved it. castle arts provides a download for the cover drawing.
unfortunately i didn't do a very good job. i had such a terrible time. i erased too much, layered too much, tried too many different kinds of pencils. up close
the colors look splotchy, blotchy and "meh". the paper was weird maybe.
my goal was to only use the Harmonious pencils, but i found without a yellow i was lost!
so i wasn't sure i should share it. when i made a mistake i kept trying to fix things. only part which looks pretty good is the upper quarter.
i think i should have started over when i saw how weird the birds looked. i was trying to match the example which came in the little brochure included with the pencils.
BUT the actual colors of the pencils did not match the example. and the style needed to match the published version, well, that was bloody impossible!
this took a wee bit more than a month!
When the sun was baking every one and every thing outside, birds, like this Northern Mockingbird, came for a few quick sips at our fountain.
The overhead sun would peek through the branches, causing a glare on the water and the window, but the birds didn't care as long as the bubbling water kept flowing.

Jedi Master Yoda, designed by Kawahata Fumiaki, folded/interpreted by Boon.
Paper : Elephant Hide, 30x30cm, green acrylic paint applied on one side, wet finished.
Just testing how EH will fare on this model and errr .... generally messing around ... I need the distraction ... :-)
I had been wanting to do something related to the Hokusai Magician for the longest time but hadn't got around to doing it properly. Just recently, I was reminded of Yoda's words of wisdom in someone's FB posting and I just *have* to do this image ... :-)
Not quite there yet. Planning to fold one more Yoda when time permits - promised a friend quite some time ago that I would give him one and he seems to be getting a bit impatient ... :-) Will likely use a slightly larger square and pose it in the manner similar to the diagrams. And will fine tune a bit more, here and there.
