Well you can not visit Rome and not shoot the icons. Not sure there are many ways to find originality with well known locations that have been photographed for 150 years or so! A bright day, so went for the stark, bleached out look.

I have seen so many great images of Convict Lake with the fall colors on
flickr.com I decided to go up and try and catch some of that fall color for
myself. (See my previous images) So I headed off on the long drive over to
the Eastern Sierra. As it turned out Convict Lake had experienced an early
freeze which had turned the trees brown. To boot the day I picked was right
in the middle of a $10,000 fishing tournament. Needless to say fishermen
lined the banks and boats filled the lake as the sun arrived so it was a
good thing I turned up early as I managed to squeeze off a few shots as the
sunlight just started to cause Mt. Laurel to glow.
I dragged my camera and tripod out at O dark-thirty and stood there freezing
my butt off on the shores of the lake. The sun had not yet rose
sufficiently to actually light Mt. Laurel but the stars were awesome. Even
at a 30 second exposure the image needed some lightning and noise reduction
in Photoshop but turned out great. The light you see on Mt. Laurel in this
image is referred to as Alpine Glow and occurs before the mountain was
directly being lit by the rising sun. The stars are streaked slightly
showing you just how much the Earth rotates in 30 seconds.
Convict lake sits at the base if Mt. Laurel (11,812 ft). In the spring you
can see small waterfalls on the far side of the lake and a good size stream
feeds the lake. Convict Lake sits just off Highway 395 which is one of
most spectacular drives you can take in the US. It starts in the stark
deserts of Southern California and runs along the back side of the Sierra
Mountains which just up suddenly out of the high desert. I highly recommend
this drive to photographers in both spring and then once again in the fall.

When the world's largest arts festival comes to town in August, the best place to be is above the masses. Here's a shot looking down the Royal Mile from the top tower of St. Giles Cathedral.
I haven't taken any photos during the Festival this year, so this is one from 2014 - arguably the only differences between then and now are the placement of various cranes. Several photos stitched into a panorama.

Instruments being silent can take the ambiance right out of a room. Either a guitar, piano, flute, banjo or what have you, when played they warm a room up. That’s not to say the player needs be a professional. I think most people would be happy to be able to play for their own amusement. Playing for your own pleasure is most likely the reason a lot of us ever picked up an instrument in the first place. You may never be a rock star or concert pianist. That’s not a good enough reason not to pick up an instrument, play around and dream. Thanks for viewing my work. Gratitude and Kindness can pave the way for a happier journey.
I have this image in my mind when I close my eyes.. this helps ease my stress, burdens and circumstances.

Having a godly, positive attitude will make all the difference in enjoying happiness, success, and contentment in life. “Words can never adequately convey the incredible impact of our attitude toward life. The longer I live the more convinced I become that life is 10 percent what happens to us and 90 percent how we respond to it.… When my attitude is right, there’s no barrier too high, no valley too deep, no dream too extreme, no challenge too great for me” (Charles Swindoll, Strengthening Your Grip).
1. Loving and serving God must have first priority in our thinking.
Deuteronomy 10:12–13 Now, people of Israel, listen to what the LORD your God demands of you: Worship the LORD and do all that he commands. Love him, serve him with all your heart, and obey all his laws. I am giving them to you today for your benefit. (GNT)
Joshua 23:11; 24:14–15; Matthew 22:37
2. We must maintain an eternal perspective in our thinking.
Colossians 3:2 Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth. (ESV)
2 Corinthians 4:18 We look not to the things that are seen but to the things that are unseen. For the things that are seen are transient, but the things that are unseen are eternal. (ESV)
Matthew 16:23–25; Romans 14:7–8
3. Our minds must be focused on spiritual things—what God desires for us.
Romans 8:5 Those who live according to the flesh have their minds set on what the flesh desires; but those who live in accordance with the Spirit have their minds set on what the Spirit desires. (NIV)
4. We must have transformed, renewed minds and must not think as unbelievers think.
Romans 12:2 Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect. (ESV)
Ephesians 4:17–24
5. We must think sacrificially, placing others ahead of ourselves.
John 15:13 Greater love has no one than this, that someone lays down his life for his friends. (ESV)
Ephesians 4:2; Philippians 2:3–7
6. A humble attitude is pleasing to God. Sinful pride he clearly hates.
Proverbs 8:13 The fear of the LORD is hatred of evil. Pride and arrogance and the way of evil and perverted speech I hate. (ESV)
Romans 12:3 For by the grace given to me I say to everyone among you not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think, but to think with sober judgment, each according to the measure of faith that God has assigned. (ESV)
Proverbs 11:2; 16:18; 18:12; Romans 12:16
7. When others have wronged us, an attitude of forgiveness is commanded. Bitterness must be put away.
Ephesians 4:30–32 And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption. Let all bitterness and wrath and anger and clamor and slander be put away from you, along with all malice. Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you. (ESV) Romans 12:17–21

When my wife and I first started dating we’d always catch the latest flick at a local movie theater on Sundays. I would always check for a midday showtime because I knew I’d get to shoot UP’s Day Bud Local that worked the LA Times printing plant spur across the street, with a friendly crew that was always good for a chat. These guys were great, they always posed their train in great light for a photo and asked if I got the photos I wanted, just because.
One Sunday, I was asked by engineer Jimmy Escalante (with sunglasses) if I would sell him the photographs I'd taken through the years as a keepsake because he would be retiring soon. I was honored, with all the info these guys were willing to give me, I told him that I would do him one better and just give him the photographs, which made him extremely happy. So the following Sunday, my wife and I showed up with prints in hand as well as a few portraits of the crew on the front end of their locomotive. The guys were delighted as was Jimmy so he invited us into the cab for a photograph of our own.
So here I am with my first ever visit inside of a working locomotive, and a true SP locomotive to boot! My wife had this big smile on her face when I finally climbed off saying that I looked like a little boy with a humongous grin from ear to ear when I posed for the photo. She declined to join me in the cab, but took one with me on the front end. Needless to say this is one of our (mine for sure) favorite memories. 5/18/03
Another of the falls near Pontneddfechan. These rocks are obviously sometimes covered with water - I had to tread very carefully to get to this point, they were very slippery!
Found some old film shots that I had totally forgotten about. Was mainly "family on holiday" type of pictures, but I liked this one. Taken with one of those Kodak Sport Disposable Cameras.

May 09, 2016 - Theme for the week: "When I was a Child..."
In the 70's as a child I liked to get these cool stickers (at least they were cool back then), and stick them to my bedroom's closet door!
Most the stickers were from the "Odd Rods" and "Wacky Packages" series collections!
This is a capture taken on my new Huawei Mate 8 cell phone, of the actual bedroom door and stickers I put on it over forty years ago - YIKES !!!!!
All of them certainly didn't stand the test of time, but it sure brings back great memories from my past whenever I look at that door . . .

The Lake Fogliano covers an area of approximately 4 square km, in the northern outskirt of Latina, and with a maximum depth of up to 2/3 metres.
The lake is fed by the Cicerchia stream and has an outlet to the sea through the Foce del Duca. Since 1978, it has been part of the nature reserve of the Circeo National Park, and is classified as a marshy area of international importance.
An ideal habitat for the stopover, wintering and nesting of a large number of migratory bird species, Lake Fogliano is especially suited for birdwatching and nature tours. We can see the remains of the old village of Fogliano on the lake shores. The other leisure and educational resources of the area include the Casina Inglese, Villa Caetani, the Botanical Gardens – in which part of the visit includes a visitor trail for the blind – and the Parco Letterario di Omero.

La Mosaïque Sculpture (Fountain)
Date: 1981
Artiste: Michel Deverne
Art integrated into Architecture, is the creed of Michel Deverne, born in 1927.
He conceived for La Defense the “Reliefs of the room of exchanges of the RER” with the sculptural decoration of the ventilation chimneys, designed by Andre-Prothin. The mosaic which accompanies the buildings by the Mirrors (1981) is also a beautiful illustration of the mixture between art and town planning: a surface of 3000 m2, creating an aesthetic effect of four cylindrical volumes intended to mask the flues ventilating, the exits of elevators and carparks becoming a sculptural work of art.
