When I get older, losing my hair, many years from now

Will you still be sending me a valentine, birthday greetings, bottle of wine?

If I'd been out 'til quarter to three, would you lock the door?

Will you still need me, will you still feed me when I'm sixty-four?

You'll be older too

Ah, and if you say the word, I could stay with you

I could be handy, mending a fuse when your lights have gone

You can knit a sweater by the fireside, Sunday mornings, go for a ride

Doing the garden, digging the weeds, who could ask for more?

Will you still need me, will you still feed me when I'm sixty-four?

Every summer we can rent a cottage

In the Isle of Wight if it's not to, dear

We shall scrimp and save

Ah, grandchildren on your knee, Vera, Chuck and Dave

Send me a postcard, drop me a line stating point of view

Indicate precisely what you mean to say, yours sincerely wasting away

Give me your answer, fill in a form, mine forever more

Will you still need me, will you still feed me when I'm sixty-four?

When a man loves a Wookie

Can't keep his mind on nothin' else

He'd trade the world

For the good thing he's found

If she is bad, he can't see it

She can do no wrong

And turn his back on his best friend

If he puts her down

When a man loves a Wookie

Spend his very last dime

And trying to hold on to what he needs

He'd give up all his comforts

And sleep out in the rain

If she said that's the way, it ought to be

When a man loves a Wookie

I give you everything I've got

Trying to hold on to your precious love

And baby baby please don't treat me bad

When a man loves a Wookie

Deep down in his soul

She can bring him such misery

If she is playing him for a fool

He's the last one to know

Loving eyes can never see

Yes when a man loves a Wookie

I know exactly how he feels

'Cause baby, baby

When a man loves a Wookie

When a man loves a Wookie

When a man loves a Wookie

When a man, when a man

When a man loves a Wookie

Regina Trench Cemetery, The Somme, France. WW1.

Not forgotten, looking back 100 years.

On 1 July 1916, the first day of the Battle of the Somme, Grandcourt village was reached by part of the 36th (Ulster) Division, but it was not until the German withdrawal to the Hindenburg Line, early in February 1917, that it was occupied by patrols of the Howe Battalion, Royal Naval Division. To the south-east of it is Courcelette, taken by the 2nd Canadian Division on 15 September 1916. Regina Trench was a German earthwork, captured for a time by the 5th Canadian Brigade on 1 October 1916, attacked again by the 1st and 3rd Canadian Divisions on 8 October, taken in part by the 18th and 4th Canadian Divisions on 21 October, and finally cleared by the 4th Canadian Division on 11 November 1916. The original part of the cemetery (now Plot II, Rows A to D) was made in the winter of 1916-1917. The cemetery was completed after the Armistice when graves were brough in from the battlefields of Courcelette, Grandcourt and Miraumont; most date from October 1916 to February 1917.

Regina Trench Cemetery now contains 2,279 burials and commemorations of the First World War. 1,077 of the burials are unidentified but there are special memorials to 14 casualties believed to be buried among them. One American airman is also buried in the cemetery.

(22) the gospel of thomas

Yeshua said to them,

When you make the two into one,

and when you make the inner like the outer

and the outer like the inner

and the upper like the lower,

and when you make male and female into a single one,

so that the male will not be male nor the female be female,

when you make eyes in place of an eye,

a hand in place of a hand,

a foot in place of a foot,

an image in place of an image,

then you will enter the kingdom.

Taken from quite a distance, zooming in and cropping a bit, I tried to capture the midwinter, midnight flowering that occurs above Oslo when the new year begins.

'Mother and Child' is such a rich and strong theme.

No one stays indifferent to it, and depending on the interaction, it can raise very varied feelings.

Cotton is a soft, fluffy staple fibre that grows in a boll, or protective case, around the seeds of the cotton plants of the genus Gossypium in the mallow family Malvaceae.

The fibre is almost pure cellulose. Under natural conditions, the cotton bolls will increase the dispersal of the seeds.

Within 80–100 days after planting, the plant develops white blossoms, which change to a reddish colour.

The fertilised blossoms fall off after a few days and are replaced by small green triangular pods, called bolls, that mature after a period of 55–80 days.

During this period the seeds and their attached hairs develop within the boll, which increases considerably in size.

The seed hair, or cotton fibre, reaching a maximum length of about 6 cm (2.5 inches) in long-fibre varieties, is known as lint.

When ripe, the boll bursts into a white, fluffy ball...

I am happy (and sad!) to announce the final round of the A-Z Doll Photography Challenge . We have finally arrived at the final three letters of the alphabet, and this final announcement is bittersweet for me. I am honored to have been the co-host of this incredible challenge group along side the remarkable and extremely talented Leslie (Bogostick). Her ideas and creativity are something to be admired. Thank you, Leslie, for working with me throughout this challenge. This collabortation has been very rewarding, and I am forever grateful for that. I also want to thank each and every A-Z participant for making this group a success. Whether you submitted photos or only voted, you have contributed to making this group so enjoyable and inspiring. I hope you have had as much fun being a part of this group as I have. Thank you for inspiring me.

Submit just one photo per theme. Since December may be a hectic month for many of us due to the upcoming holidays, the last day to submit a photo to the group is January 7th!

Read below for information about each theme. You can also visit the following discussion post: www.flickr.com/groups/2962397@N20/discuss/72157675688672032/

X - XOXO:

All you need is love! This theme is all about hugs and kisses. You can approach this theme however you like. The only requirement is that there must be at least one doll giving/receiving a hug or kiss in your photo.

Y - Yarn:

A simple idea with many possibilities! For this challenge, include yarn somewhere in your photo. You could use fashion (a sweater, a scarf), feature it in a diorama (room decorations, a blanket on the couch), or show your doll shopping at a craft store or him/her knitting a project. You could even weave the yarn into your doll’s hair for an editorial portrait. Get creative!

Z - Ziegfeld Girls:

Ziegfeld Girls were beautiful chorus girls starring on Broadway in the theatrical productions known as the Ziegfeld Follies (1907-1931). These showgirls were the epitome of elegance and glamour as they sang and danced, all while adorned in elaborate costumes. For this theme, you may depict your doll(s) as either a vintage or modern day showgirl: Perhaps she is one of the famed Las Vegas showgirls of the 1950s or is a star at Paris' Folies Bergere. You can show her performing in a chorus line, getting dressed backstage, or simply posing for a photoshoot. Think feathers, sequins, flirty skirts or elaborate headpieces!

Make sure to title your photos with the theme you are representing. (example: A-Z challenge: A - alphabet)

We're here visiting ' The Good Wife's Guide'

When I set out from Los Angeles to shoot what was left of fall color in the eastern sierra, I really had no idea I'd end up in Yosemite before the weekend was done!

After waking up to sunny, cloudless skies in Mammoth, I shot what I could of the low morning light, then stopped in for breakfast at the Whoa Nellie Deli. With sufficient food and caffeine in my system, I set back out again. I pulled to the exit at the Mobil Station, and looked at the two arrows. One pointed right, back to Highway 395, and the other pointed left--the way up Tioga Pass. I paused for a moment to consider my options--and ended up here. :)

Night, the beloved. Night, when words fade and things come alive.

When the destructive analysis of day is done, and all that is truly important becomes whole and sound again.

When man reassembles his fragmentary self and grows with the calm of a tree.

(Antoine de Saint Exupéry)

Not much to add to this, except maybe, why Saint Exupéry TODAY (tonight) and here!?!

EVERYBODY must know the book LE PETIT PRINCE... if you don't; let me know and I'll organise the library bus to bring you a copy!!!

I have read and re-read this little booklet in German, French, English and most likely even in Italian - it's easy to understand and it contains 'stuff' to re-think for ages.... it's subtly bringing facts of life to the point and it is so lovingly written that you can't hold anything against the writer - even if you sometimes might want to! It is - in short - probably the most lovable book anybody can find.

After having bought copies of a very beautiful CD, read by Will Quadflieg (in German) for my nearly blind mother, my little sister and the children of my bros-in-law, I got a copy of my gift sent back to me by little sis..... and after a very long time I have inserted it in the car CD player, where I listen to it on my way to .... somewhere! It made me aware once again how absolutely wonderful this aviator and writer is expressing himself in his work.

These four-leaf-clovers are my latest pride and joy. The make lovely red flowers and if you care to stroll down in the comments, you'll find more close-up shots of those little darlings. I wish all of you who still live through Thursday, A HAPPY GORGEOUS GREEN THURSDAY and to the rest of us a BEAUTIFUL GREEN FRIDAY!

For the shutter sisters: Hello..... (sunshine, morning, night, happiness, smiles!)

Good night, little princesses, little princes - sleep tight!

When I was young, much younger than today, I used to wonder why Nana's loved lavender and I just thought it was an old persons thing. Now I am six months off being 70! I understand why. I LOVE lavender. I go to sleep with it each night using it in aromatherapy.
