At the Magic Kingdom they have a fireworks show every night called "Wishes"-- it is amazing, strangely very moving, and a pleasure to photograph. More from my recent visit to the Happiest Place on Earth here.
When I got up to the top of the complex by car, I realized that it was fashionable to go on foot only by elevator. But he was hidden behind the door, which I did not immediately find ... What was behind the door made my hand reach for the camera ...
According to C G Jung's studies, synchronicity manifests itself everywhere in a few hours the world will be shown events on television .... On April 15, 2019, there was a strong fire in the cathedral which caused the loss of the spire, the clock and the roof. The framework of the building was saved .French architect Jean-Michel Wilmott said that the cost of restoring the burnt-out Notre Dame de Paris would be about one billion euros .
When I had returned home from my little drive there was a notification that this bird had been spotted within the city and it would only take 15 to 20 minutes to get there. I figured it would still be there as a sighting of it had also been made the previous day in the same area.
With help from other birders I finally got to see it. Certainly a rarity to see one in the city.
Thanks for your visits and comments! They are all greatly appreciated!

You should've seen by the look in my eyes
That there was something missing
You should've known by the tone of my voice
But you didn't listen
You play dead, but you never bled
When I said that I love you
I meant that I loved you forever
And I'm going to keep on loving you
Because it's the only thing I want to do
I don't want to sleep
I just want to keep on loving you
When I returned to my car, to leave Sunset Bay, this squirrel jumped up on the wooden post right in front of my parking spot. He peered inside my windshield. I had let him eat sunflower seeds out of my palm an hour earlier. Seemed reluctant to let me go. Took his photo, promised next time and left. From the looks of his plump little body, he is not missing any meals.

when I was a kid I loved to help my mother hang our laundry on the clothesline that was strung from our porch to a pole in the back of the yard. I still have a thing for clothespins and love it when I run across the occasional clothesline in some stranger's backyard with their unmentionables flapping in the breeze :)
When most people think of cuckoos they think of laying eggs in other birds' nests. Guira Cuckoo does not indulge in brood parasitism but sometimes they have a communal nest for several birds with up to 20 eggs. This is a halfway step towards brood parasitism because it frees up time for the parents that spend less time as they share incubation and feeding duties, and it is safety in numbers if a predator finds the nest. But mortality is high in communal nests with eggs getting broken, not incubated properly and competition for food among the large number of chicks. And sometimes Guira Cuckoos will remove eggs of other birds from the communal nest. There are about 150 birds in the Cuckoo family and only 59 of these are brood parasites, and most of these are in the Old World (just 3 brood parasitic Cuckoos in the New World). Guira Cuckoos live in open habitats over a large part of South America. I photographed this one near Buenos Aries in Argentina. The name Guira, and its scientific tautonym "Guira guira" simply means "bird" in the Guarani language. And there is a definite family resemblance to our British Cuckoo, especially with the bill shape and eye: www.flickr.com/photos/timmelling/51167073352/in/photolist
When the purple sandpipers weren't playing ball by sitting on rocks completely inaccessbile to anyone without a boat there was quite a large flock of turnstones to keep me entertained :)

I realised quickly when I knew I should.
that the world was made for this
brotherhood of man
for whatever that means
and so I cry sometimes when I'm lying in bed
just to get it all out, what's in my head
and I, I am feeling a little peculiar
and so I wake in the morning and I step
outside and I take deep breath
and I get real high
and I scream from the top of my lungs
What's goin' on? ... (other old song of Linda Perry)

Update: I cropped out all the dark clouds from the top half of the picture, which makes it look a lot better now, I think.

When we understand that man is the only animal who must create meaning, who must open a wedge into neutral nature, we already understand the essence of love. Love is the problem of an animal who must find life, create a dialogue with nature in order to experience his own being.

The red squirrel has been a native in the UK for several thousand years, whereas the first greys were brought here from North America in 1876. Over the years more were introduced, notably by the Duke of Bedford to the park at Woburn Abbey where they thrived.
Undoubtedly, the grey squirrel has adapted well to our countryside and towns; some would say at the expense of the red squirrel, which is only partly true. Certainly direct conflict between the two species seems to be unheard of.
It is not so much a case of the grey squirrel driving out the red, but more a case of being better equipped and more adaptable. A major factor is the ability to survive tough winters due to the fact that greys generally carry more body fat. Although the size difference between the two types of squirrel is not dramatic, a full-grown grey can weigh almost twice as much as a red. Grey squirrels are also more adventurous and happier foraging on the ground, whereas red squirrels spend most of their lives high up in conifer trees, and their diet is less varied, although both species are generally vegetarian.
Grey squirrels are still often regarded as vermin, compared to their popular cousins though. In the 1920s and 1930s, grey squirrels were beginning to cause significant damage to commercial forestry; in particular to beech trees. A law was passed in 1938 banning further importation of these creatures, and in following years various methods were tried without success to control grey squirrels. Many people still call them ‘tree rats’, but they are here to stay and give much pleasure, especially in urban parks and gardens where they become
Huge colonies of the red squirrel population were wiped out between 1900-1920 by the parapox virus, which is similar to myxomatosis in rabbits. Not only that, but red squirrels were hunted right up until 1927. In fact there was even a Highland Squirrel Club dedicated to this ‘sport’! Hunting, disease and changes in the management of forestry all contributed to the population being drastically reduced, from which it has never recovered. Man should accept the blame for his part in their demise.
Grey squirrels are playful, curious and agile animals, and living proof that man can’t always assert his will on nature with poison and guns. Farmers and foresters have learned to live with the grey squirrels and are beginning to manage forests to encourage red squirrels, particularly in the north-west of England.

In the middle of Sanssouci Park in Potsdam stands a building that is more reminiscent of Florence or Rome than Germany. The Orangery Palace was built in the 19th century under Frederick William IV, a king who loved Italy and had his enthusiasm translated into stone.
Today, the complex is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and attracts visitors from all over the world.
