I took a similar shot using my iPhone about a week ago. It was a magical shot - I wanted to see if I could replicate it or do better with a Canon 5D mkIII and Tokina 16-28mm lens (which is super sharp!). So I excitedly returned and took a number of photos with similar perspective (with equivalent focal length). I processed the best image (this one) in black and white as it worked better with the contrast compared to colour.

To be honest I think the iPhone version (which is in colour) is better and i'm not sure why. I guess it doesn't matter what camera you use, it's how you use it that matters. I guess it's good to know that something so portable like an iPhone can take such great photos I guess.

I'd be keen to know your thoughts?

Oh and also, the original iPhone version is also my most Favorited shot in my photostream - thanks everyone!

weather vane on our shed

A very happy bank holiday to you! This weather is beautiful - I hope you are all managing to get out and make the most of it?

This shot is from yesterday morning, I took another visit to Micheldever woods; my favourite bluebell woodland. I wanted one more trip before they start to fade and to show a couple of friends the sights too. It really is a magical experience from the bird song and the colours to the smells and the way the light moves across the woodland floor. Something everyone should experience from time to time!

Have a fantastic day guys, whatever it may hold for you!

another analogue work

I think analogue works are full of memories, more than the digital ones. Everytime I take a look at them, feelings of that special moment, when it was taken, return... there is always more atmosphere, mood and memories in them....

Do you feel the same about analogue work?

I don't really know what this is. It could be the remains of some kind of bouy from a nearby lake. Whatever it is, it's been abandoned on a disused roadside on Ferry Meadows for a long time.

Whoo Hoo, fist pump, happy dance, Russian squat dance(whatever it's called), I was doing them all inside when I realised what was on the fence post on the side of the road I was going down near Priddis this afternoon. I honestly could not believe my eyes. A Great Grey Owl sitting on a post 30 feet away and just begging to have his picture taken. What an absolutely beautiful bird. My only hope was that he didn't fly away, which he didn't. He changed posts a couple of times because it looked like he saw something in the ditch and for the most part, he just ignored me. I was there for almost 20 minutes, he didn't even care that I was there. He was still there when I drove away. This is the first one I have seen in the wild.

Still up there as one of my all time fav places to hike.

Sign on the old ladies toilet at the Shakespeare Pub in San Diego. California is really confued.

falling too fast to prepare for this

tripping in the world could be dangerous

everybody circling, it's vulturous

negative, nepotist

everybody waiting for the fall of man

everybody praying for the end of times

everybody hoping they could be the one

i was born to run, i was born for this

always had a fear of being typical

looking at my body feeling miserable

always hanging on to the visual

i wanna be invisible

looking at my years like a martyrdom

everybody needs to be a part of 'em

never be enough, i'm the prodigal son

i was born to run, i was born for this

whip, whip

run me like a racehorse

pull me like a ripcord

break me down and build me up

i wanna be the slip, slip

word upon your lip, lip

letter that you rip, rip

break me down and build me up

whatever it takes

cause i love the adrenaline in my veins

i do whatever it takes

cause I love how it feels when i break the chains

whatever it takes

you take me to the top, i'm ready for

whatever it takes

cause i love the adrenaline in my veins

i do what it takes

hypocritical, egotistical

don't wanna be the parenthetical, hypothetical

working onto something that i'm proud of, out of the box

an epoxy to the world and the vision we've lost

i'm an apostrophe

i'm just a symbol to remind you that there's more to see

i'm just a product of the system, a catastrophe

and yet a masterpiece, and yet i'm half-diseased

and when i am deceased

at least i go down to the grave and die happily

leave the body of my soul to be a part of me

i do what it takes

whatever it takes

cause i love the adrenaline in my veins

i do whatever it takes

cause I love how it feels when i break the chains

whatever it takes

you take me to the top, i'm ready for

whatever it takes

cause i love the adrenaline in my veins

i do what it takes

yeah, there's more and more...

WHATEVER

Whatever this lush pink flowering tree is, it was bold and beautiful. And it is SOOC except for some very slight lighting adjustments and my Copyright initials.

Life is without meaning. You bring the meaning to it. The meaning of life is whatever you ascribe it to be. Being alive is the meaning......Joseph Campbell

Whatever it was, it loved the water. We where walking in Safaripark Beekse Bergen that day and it was pretty hot for the time of the year. This beautiful animal thought "Why not" and jumped right in the water as we watched him and his friend apear from behind the bushes. The nice cooling stream must have had great effect on his phisique. Because as we walked by, i swear i heard it saying something similar to "aaah..." but than in a cows dialect i couldnt quit just place...

Cubby looks like an upside down egg- with feet!

Working on the premiss that kids always do the exact opposite of what you ask, I simply said whatever you do.. don't laugh.

Sorry about the blur but their explosion of laughter caught even me by surprise.

Spring is always full of surprises with huge variations in temperature, lots of rain (..happily) and even late-season snow (...not so happily). This Spring, we've had rain, a little snow, 70F degree days and more than a few nights below freezing - including last night.

These are Spring-hardy, ground-hugging Asian Twinleaf (Jeffersonia dubia) flowers. Regardless of the temperature extremes, rain or snow they just keep flowering. They bloom happily on Spring days and close up at night to stay warm. Their leaves are big and showy and almost as lovely as their purple flowers.

There is a native, wild white flowering Twinleaf variety here in the Northeast but it's on the endangered list in most mid-Atlantic states and rarely seen. :)

As every intelligent person knows, Pop Art accounts for three distinct periods.

1. Starving Time. The interesting and fruitful period when a young but already genial artist makes his or her first paintings - the gratest masterpieces of all time. Everything is good but no money to buy some food.

2. Soup Era. This is when a young but already genial artist sells his first piece of great art, or robs a bank (I'm not sure which event has a greater mathematical probability), or just borrows some bucks from a mediocre and worthless person and buys some cans of soup. Of course, the artist documents such a great and rare event (of having canned soup). Many hungry artists follows the father-founder of Pop Art and document their food, drinks, whatever eatable, and personal effects too.

3. After The Lunch. A sated, full-bellied artist doesn't need soup cans for the time being, so he entertains himself right after the lunch, for instance, the way this photo shows. Finally the artist becomes, out of the blue, famous. He has a lot of social commitments now, so he has no free time to make good art. But he is rich now, and that is the Happy End of the story. I wonder if this photo can repeat the success of the artist? What do you think? Feel free to express your opinion in comments.

Whatever I do...

It's in hopes to fly

Whatever I do...

It's to be a fixture

in your eyes

I'm so a loan

take my heart with interest

I'm so alone

It's akin to a death sentence

For my sins

I tune a tone

of atonement

in stone meant

to be in the key of heaven

A empty kiss for him

when welcomed home

from battlefronts

of hopelessness

A mind amiss

Empty bottles

in lieu of coping mechanisms

Whatever I do...

It's never enough

Whatever I do...

Heart's a discarded husk

Torn apart in the wind as dust

No longer in Kansas

No longer in love

Love no longer in us

Numb to the touch

Touch numb to the rush

The rush lacks its luster

Sensation sent Satan's sin

as maiden's for him

but their hearts to another

Whatever I do...

The world turns

Whatever I do...

I'm a fly to light

knowing I'll be burnt

Whatever...

I do
