“Science deals with the world which it perceives but, seeking more and more to penetrate the veil of naïve perception, progresses only towards the goal of nothing, because it still does not accept in practice (whatever it may admit theoretically) that the mind first creates what it perceives as objects, including the instruments which Science uses for that very penetration. It insists on dealing with ‘data,’ but there shall no data be given, save the bare percept. The rest is imagination. Only by imagination therefore can the world be known. And what is needed is, not only that larger and larger telescopes and more and more sensitive calipers should be constructed, but that the human mind should become increasingly aware of its own creative activity.”
-Owen Barfield, Poetic Diction (28):
Whenever I'm alone with you
You make me feel like I am home again
Whenever I'm alone with you
You make me feel like I am whole again
Whenever I'm alone with you
You make me feel like I am young again
Whenever I'm alone with you
You make me feel like I am fun again
However far away
I will always love you
However long I stay
I will always love you
Whatever words I say
I will always love you
I will always love you
Whenever I'm alone with you
You make me feel like I am free again
Whenever I'm alone with you
You make me feel like I am clean again
However far away
I will always love you
However long I stay
I will always love you
Whatever words I say
I will always love you
I will always love you

This is another pic rescued while emptying the archives in Lr, I've stood here three times and have been greeted by haze every time, but dam, the view is just too good not to share. This pic was taken above Dewey Lake on the Naches Loop Trail near upper Tipsoo Lake and I can't express enough how sweet this hike is. It's still my leader in Pain vs Gain and gets a thumbs up from Darling Tonia.
The title is a double entendre in equal proportions. :-) I've been unable to hike and have barely had time to turn on the computer in some time as you know, my apologies, my time here and hiking are way up there on my joys of living and neither have happened in recent memories.
My work load has been insane, 18 1/2 hours yesterday is a new record for me. Boo Hoo, whatever, my only day off this week will be tomorrow, (Friday) and I am retaking the bunny hike of Snow/Bench Lake as soon as I can crawl out of bed if anyone is interested.
(sidenote for anyone interested) I sat in traffic on 167 at 410 yesterday at dawn and watched the pink and magenta appear as Rainier came to view and it was a near tear bringing moment and then two installs later I was in Olympia at sunset when a hazy dramatic gold sent us into evening and even then the mountain had a glow about it calling my name before 8 more hours of cutting a teller line in half and installing an ADA top. I missed the moon rise, but saw it this evening on my way back to the shop, it looked like it was rising out of 112th in Puyallup. :-)
PS as always, sincerely, if you have a shot that you think I'd love and missed it let me know, I've certainly done the same. :-)
We were at the Iowa State Fair this year and stumbled upon one of the many beauty pageants held at the fair. As we walked through the horse barn, hairspray was being sprayed, curling irons curling, and whatever else goes into becoming a pageant queen. I started taking some of this young lady who did not notice me at first, then she struck this pose, and well, it would have been rude not to take it. Take care everyone.
Largely unnoticed (despite very large size) public space decorative art - but it probably works on a subliminal level. Life is sure better with colours :)
Truck. Tucson. Downtown.
I was wandering about yesterday during lunch only to come back to my building and find it evacuated because of a gas line break. It was a bit of a mess downtown, but all the better for picture-taking.
I drive by this area but usually the fields have already been picked. Maybe this is wild? Whatever....
And yes..the sharecroppers home is sagging.
Taken just before it poured down rain!
Listen, when things get a little too hot, sometimes you need to make a break for it... and break a few things in the process! Take it from the O.G. space cowboy himself.

Isn't it a wee bit dangerous, being so close to the Midgard Serpent?
The what? Oh wait, you're still clinging to your old religion.
That's not mine, it's every sane one's! And we really shouldn't be this close.
That's a dead tree and a trick of the light, Mister Odin-is-great.
So why don't you just walk over the water and pet it, if it's that harmless, Mister Jesus-loves-you?
Ach, bugger off. That's just the same nonsense as the Æsir. Folklore with sprinkles.
Oh, it's one of those days. And which god do you believe in today?
None. Or to be more precise: in every god that evidently exists. None.
Could we still get away from the Midgard Serpent? Just in case?
Whatever.

Like in those dreams where you squish up your eyes and say ”haven’t I been here before??” yet reality says otherwise; it seems familiar, but you know you’ve never seen this kind of glory before.
In my mind I can be whatever I want, whoever I want, whenever I want, and I'd still do it all with you.

Damn, I thought you knew me
by way you're talking to me
You get any closer to me
Then I might just have to let it go
Something 'bout that cocky thing,
you got me wanna see what's really going on
I do the thing, I do the thing you wanna (Ladies an gentlemen)
I'm gonna do anything you wanna (I know what you want)
Mivvi/Merry or whatever he's called won't be happy that a 16th Century building has crept into this shot of a non-descript bench.
It's a part of a graffiti. Turned, to find in the given tag this abstract portrait - another meaning.
Your decision: ''whatever you see...'
She hovered beside the chained door, her fingertips barely grazing the cold metal as the warning “Don’t Go Out!!” stared back at her in frantic, uneven letters. Thick black chains crisscrossed the weathered wood, each lock looking heavier than the last, as though someone had gone to impossible lengths to keep whatever was outside from getting in—or perhaps to keep her from going out. Still, curiosity gnawed at her. Biting down on her bottom lip, she leaned closer to the narrow crack in the frame, where an unnatural crimson glow spilled through like liquid fire, painting the walls and floor in shades of red. Beyond the gap, she could see nothing clearly, only shifting shadows swallowed by the eerie light, making the silence outside feel far more menacing than any sound ever could.

I've just come in. Three hours to make the drive vaguely navigable.
So, sorely in need of warmer times, I found this, from that fantastic week at Jen and Ursula's gîte. It'll be good to squint into the sun again. Whatever that is.

I tell you I could speak again: whatever
returns from oblivion returns

from the center of my life came
a great fountain, deep blue
shadows on azure seawater."

Today or tomorrow I will hit 1,000,000 views.
A while ago, I would have been excited, like when I was the 1,000,000th upload to the 365 Day group.
But now I really don't care.
Whatever.
I am so upset over the BP Oil Spill and all those innocent creatures whose ecosystems are being destroyed because of human greed.
I hope and pray the entire world can learn a lesson so something like this never happens again.
