falling too fast to prepare for this
tripping in the world could be dangerous
everybody circling, it's vulturous
negative, nepotist
everybody waiting for the fall of man
everybody praying for the end of times
everybody hoping they could be the one
i was born to run, i was born for this
always had a fear of being typical
looking at my body feeling miserable
always hanging on to the visual
i wanna be invisible
looking at my years like a martyrdom
everybody needs to be a part of 'em
never be enough, i'm the prodigal son
i was born to run, i was born for this
whip, whip
run me like a racehorse
pull me like a ripcord
break me down and build me up
i wanna be the slip, slip
word upon your lip, lip
letter that you rip, rip
break me down and build me up
whatever it takes
cause i love the adrenaline in my veins
i do whatever it takes
cause I love how it feels when i break the chains
whatever it takes
you take me to the top, i'm ready for
whatever it takes
cause i love the adrenaline in my veins
i do what it takes
hypocritical, egotistical
don't wanna be the parenthetical, hypothetical
working onto something that i'm proud of, out of the box
an epoxy to the world and the vision we've lost
i'm an apostrophe
i'm just a symbol to remind you that there's more to see
i'm just a product of the system, a catastrophe
and yet a masterpiece, and yet i'm half-diseased
and when i am deceased
at least i go down to the grave and die happily
leave the body of my soul to be a part of me
i do what it takes
whatever it takes
cause i love the adrenaline in my veins
i do whatever it takes
cause I love how it feels when i break the chains
whatever it takes
you take me to the top, i'm ready for
whatever it takes
cause i love the adrenaline in my veins
i do what it takes

The mist and clouds on our first day on Monhegan Island, Maine, didn't stop us from walking one of the trails. I think the mist adds a little "mist-eriousness" to the scenes!
Whatever it was, it loved the water. We where walking in Safaripark Beekse Bergen that day and it was pretty hot for the time of the year. This beautiful animal thought "Why not" and jumped right in the water as we watched him and his friend apear from behind the bushes. The nice cooling stream must have had great effect on his phisique. Because as we walked by, i swear i heard it saying something similar to "aaah..." but than in a cows dialect i couldnt quit just place...
Whatever holiday you celebrate this season,
Happy Holidays!
About Amadeus:
He's the one I call "Wolfgang" in my blog. We created this alt Amadeus last year so we could attend parties and dance in public without compromising our private alts.
Spring is always full of surprises with huge variations in temperature, lots of rain (..happily) and even late-season snow (...not so happily). This Spring, we've had rain, a little snow, 70F degree days and more than a few nights below freezing - including last night.
These are Spring-hardy, ground-hugging Asian Twinleaf (Jeffersonia dubia) flowers. Regardless of the temperature extremes, rain or snow they just keep flowering. They bloom happily on Spring days and close up at night to stay warm. Their leaves are big and showy and almost as lovely as their purple flowers.
There is a native, wild white flowering Twinleaf variety here in the Northeast but it's on the endangered list in most mid-Atlantic states and rarely seen. :)
I ended up selling this bike for $500 to a really nice guy named David. He even called me a week later to thank me for it and gave me a couple job leads. If you see him on the streets of SF, say hello.
So it was thunderstorm night and whatever got into me, I decided to head out to beach to capture some lightning. Turned out to be a very frustrating experience for me. It was raining and my camera is not waterproof & every time I fiddled with my cam when there was nothing going on, major lightning strikes...and I miss it, finally used a remote shutter release and managed to capture this even though I'm sure I missed 70% of it. That's the best I could get. I just kept on missing it.
Mind you it was a bit intimidating when you see..major lightning right above your head in sky!!! I'm sure there will be other nights like these if I decide to take the risk.
One advice from this experience, don't even attempt this without a Remote shutter release, you don't have any time to react @ all.
As we approach the election of 2024, something that is on everyone's minds is freedom. As in, what does it mean, and will we still enjoy it after the results of the election are announced. Yale professor Timothy Snyder has written a book on the subject called "On Freedom". I've read it twice this season. It's one of the most important books I've ever read. My entries for this Polaroid Week are based on interpretations of points made in his book.
Snyder posits that there is a difference in conceptions of freedom, one of which is negative freedom, which can be thought of as "freedom from", and positive freedom, or "freedom to". Postive freedom is about enabling free people to live their lives to the fullest, and negative freedom is about preventing anything from preventing you from doing whatever you want. Positive freedom leads to democracy. Negative freedom leads in the opposite direction.
There are five components to positive freedom in Snyder's estimation. The first of these is Sovereignty. Each person is sovereign over their own selves. They are responsible for their own being, their own decisions, their own beliefs. The task of a parent raising a child is to teach them to be a sovereign being, capable of judging right from wrong and living their life in a way that is true to themselves.
My first entry for Polaroid Week represents Sovereignty with a mixed media piece, one of my construction paper people on Polaroid Retinex Type-I film, with a piece of construction paper glued onto the frame so it extends outside the circular frame of the Retinex film.
Snyder's book is available at timothysnyder.org/on-freedom .
Tim triumphant! Ha! Once again architecture/security/whatever you are beaten!! Mwhahaha
...and then, defeat, embarrasment and a crippling sense of stupidity wash over me.
Let me explain. This place is really cool. But for the life of us, we could not find a way in (you know me and my photography lust for high places). The site itself is on a slope, so the ground floor is different depending on where you are. At one point we found a spiky and unforgiving way up to the first floor (the idea being we could then access a staircase, otherwise blocked off). We eventually made it up with a few new cuts and bruises... to find that we were still on the ground floor, just further along.
DSGDFGAFREGREGERGERG Argh. Fail.
Still. The starry night sky will always me feel just a little bit better.

"Last judging I recieved third. I was expecting higher since I showed by far the most connection and chemistry with my male model but whatever, I'm still at the top and slaying. This week we had to do a beauty close-up and we had to think of everything ourselves - all the other girls were like, covering themselves in paint and crap like that and I thought they all looked freaking ridiculous so I decided to keep my shot classy and glitzy. I obviously rocked it as per usual!"
I'm sorry this is late! I actually found this theme really difficult even though it was only a beauty shot, I struggled thinking of a concept and eventually I ended up with this. I kinda went with a Beyonce/Glitz and Glam sort of shot.
I hope you like it anyway! :)

[NOTE: Because these newer photographs are "matted" so that they have breathing room, and so that they can be seen on a white ground, in the thumbnails they appear very small. They are not. They are in fact VERY high resolution. For whatever appreciation they might deserve, they should be seen large. You only need click the image, and even click again, to enlarge them, either on a computer or a tablet.]
