This welder was working on a building outside my hotel. I had some time before my flight so I shot a few frames of him.
dangerous fumes are generated during the Arch welding and joining of metals ,Colors and sparks are the attraction in these captures
I think the actual spec was for a 3/16" weld bead, and I think these are slightly on the thick side. But they came out fairly evenly.
This was the first time I had welded box-like plates like this.
Area high school students competed in the inaugural Carl Sandburg College Welding Competition held May 18 in Building G at the Main Campus in Galesburg. Teams from Galesburg, ROWVA, United, Monmouth-Roseville and Galva competed in the event.
Three sides done and just the large void on the top of the front spar where the frame adapter's 15 degree taper cut makes it longer than the spar is wide. I'm going to plug the gap with a small piece of steel plate and a buttload of weld.

This one is mostly used for stick welding. Note that unlike the machine I usually use, this machine lacks a second switch that enables the foot pedal to terminate the arc.
Both machines "scratch start".
