[ 44 / 52 Weeks - 29 october - 4 november ]

This week subject: Vintage. ( ❤ )

"And the sky is full of dreams

But you don't know how to fly

I don't have a simple answer

But I know that I could answer

Something better

This feeling won't go

Wait for it"

[This is Your Life - The Killers]

I have been listening to The Killers non-stop lately. I'm so in love. But I also bought an old Kings of Leon album and a couple Spoon albums... As well as a ton of other ones. I've spent too much money in the last little while... All on music. But I'm okay with that xD

Also, my photos have been extremely dark lately, mainly because I haven't been in a very good mood. But I'm starting to feel a bit better, so they should be getting a little brighter in no time :)

Another technique!

If this looks familiar to you, that's likely because there are two other ways to achieve this effect, namely the well-known technique of connecting 1x2 tiles with minifigure hands (which, as far as I can tell, can be attributed to Barney Main) and this technique by Simon NH. However, if you are looking for something that is sturdier than the first option and don't own a bunch of 2x2 corner tiles, this variation might work for you. The key piece here is the inverted 2x2 tile, which can be combined with 1x2 tiles and a simple support structure in back. Rotating the pieces as far as is possible to get a rougher texture helps to distinguish the individual "bricks" in the wall from one another and makes for a more interesting texture. It's also helpful to utilize two colors rather than one. I originally though that this technique would be fairly limited in terms of color, but it turns out the 2x2 inverted tile is available in light and dark bley, tan, and sand green, so you can actually achieve a fair bit of variety with this technique in terms of color.

I'll be posting more techniques in the next couple of days (because a little bit of sensationalism never hurts :P ). If you've seen this technique before, please let me know! I don't want to "claim" techniques that other people discovered before I did. In any case, feel free to use this.

Technique Week II | Technique Week I

Decided to go out of this world this week. Well not quite. Using household objects as planets. The "comet" trail was a blue pen light I swished across the blackboard. Apart from contrast and cloning of dirt this was produced in camera.

Explore 23/07/2013 Thanks everyone for making my image onto Explore!

I am on week 5 of a 52 Week photography project which I am doing with my friend Martin.

we are going strong so far...

...this week I was lacking inspiration, it's been a rather dull week, with 2 storms, with Cornwall first being hit with ex-Ophelia, and then storm Brian. I was working so I didn't get to shoot either, however winter is long and I'm sure I'll get another chance.

Tonight I was wondering what to shoot, and then I saw a pack of pencils on the side, and that got me thinking...

...it doesn't matter how bleak and grey life becomes sometimes, if we look close enough we can always find a little bit of colour.

Playing basketball is one of the things I do to keep an active lifestyle... need practice on my shooting, though!

For the Metal theme at 52 of 2014. We've been hanging pictures at the new place so I happened to have a pile of nails! Eight second exposure. Explored!

This is actually for last week, when creative juices were running low. I'll upload this week's 52 Weeks photo tomorrow.

PS. I had no idea my floor was so shiny!

PPS. I love my remote.

☆ Pledge Week 2

Sunshine, sisterhood, and Sigma Xi Psi 🌸So grateful for the amazing bonds I’m forming with my line sisters and big sisters during rush week! ✨ The assignments are fun, the company is even better, and there’s no place I’d rather unwind than by the pool!!

Week 28 (v 12.0) - a street horse story

I decided to be brave and go into the forest despite the raging hoards of mosquitoes. I was definitely a sight to see, swatting them off while my grey card while tripping over roots, an adventure I dare say. Probably will try this again soon.

Anywho, enough of my ramblings..happy friday eer'body (:

I want this year to be an opportunity to be more present and aware of the privileged life I'm fortunate to live. 2019 was a year that often kept me in low places, and I continually found myself beneath a weight of burdens that I let tie themselves to me rather than let them pass over me.

To that goal, my partner suggested journaling to me. To write down the things that I struggle with. Write down the things I'm grateful for. Write down the things that are important to me.

My photography goals in 2020 mirror that of my mental health goals. I want to feel more open to being creative, and I want to be less selective about what I share. I want to spend less time under the weight of being perfect, or better than the last shot. I'm not built for that grind.

I scanned through the first journal entry I wrote in my new journal and came across the phrase "I want to be happy."

I wanted to share that piece of my journal without revealing all of my other sensitive things I'm writing about, so I thought it would be a good opportunity to embrace my photography goals as well.

I want to be happy. I want the people around to me to be happy and healthy as well.

Here's to a happy 2020.

Mam Tor • Peak District National Park • New Year’s Day 2022

In an attempt to upload a little more regularly in 2022 I have decided to complete a landscape Project 52. The aim: to take one photo a week for the entire of 2022. And with the outlook of a good sunrise in the morning, what better time to start it off than the first one of the year.

I was a bit worried when I arrived at the packed car park an hour before sunrise but, thankfully, it was nice and quiet once I climbed over the peak and wandered down to the gate. Then the wait for the sun to rise began.

It was not a colourful sky at all but, once the sun rose above the clouds on the horizon, it bathed the gate in a beautiful golden light. I must say it was not a bad way to start the year.

Happy New Year everyone!

when I took this photo, i was just soo hot that gah, no words.

I have had such an overwhelming amount of support in my photography ahhh, I love every single one of you. Thank you all soo much, I really appreciate you all.

I am posting this 52 weeks pretty early in the week (well early for me) since i will be busy over the weekend with a wedding to attend! But hopefully, I will have some time to take photos!

and in an instant,

I had my life back

on monday and tuesday I had my last exams. and there I was, on april 20, 12 o’clock, done with my a-levels. I can’t describe how I felt. it was over. the exams I have been afraid of for years, the ones I studied for like crazy, over over over. the weather was amazing and we sat in the park until 8pm and we had the best time. and on wednesday we spent time there again because two of my friends were finished then, too. and I slept. I slept really good for the first time in weeks. on thursday I spent my time with Nina and we stayed up until 3am although there was no exam we had to study for. we stayed up late because we wanted to. and on friday the people who took an exam in spanish were done too, so we spent another day in the park and on saturday we had a big party in a club and on sunday I did nothing. I was busy all the time but I had the best week. and my a-levels are over. finally.

in contrast to my week, this photo was a pain in the ass. I had it all pictured in my head, but the photos didn’t come out the way I wanted them to, so I took them again. and again. I used different locations and different clothes and different times of the day, but I was just not satisfied. they didn’t express my week in the best way. so I had pictures from three shootings, but they didn’t fit. after I had taken the pictures for week thirty, I took some other ones for about 10 minutes and when I had a look at them, I knew that one of them must be the picture for week thirty one. so here it is, different from what I imagined, but the perfect picture for my week.

I posted pictures from the other shoots in the comments. :) there is also a collage of some other ones that won’t mean anything to you, so you can just ignore them, but I want them to be here for when I look back on my project in the future.

[april 19 – 25, 2010]

Two weeks' ago, Zachary and I had the good fortune of chasing the Ohio Centrals' Cambridge turn featuring the last 2 painted OHCR painted "Super 7's" on the current G&W roster. Back in 2008 Tom Mik and myself knew of the sale of the OC to the big orange borg and immediately planned a trip. Our first few days on the OC was nothing short of primitive, we had some sketchy info on ops and somehow pieced a few things together. At the time it seemed a daily coal train from the loadout at Gloster, OH would run north on the NS West Virginia secondary to a power plant on the OC in Conesville, OH. Our arrival the first morning was nothing short of a bang (maybe Tom will provide the picture evidence). The train left just after dawn most days with OC power on each end making it a great chase. Here the rear end of train GLT-2 with OC SD40-2 4022 passes the Palos Covered bridge in South Gloster, OH on October 20, 2008. This was the beginning of a incredible week with lots of surprises instore for us.

Hold me tight, please never let go.

Week 47 Technical: Shaped Bokeh.

A case of poor background? Hard to see the 'subject', which is why I did not as I passed close by. Possibly a Red Diamondback? Sharon would know, maybe when she gets back we will know!

After a Spring week's rain, the Western side of the mountain within the Shenandoah Valley, a few rays of the setting sun break through breaking cloud cover. Here on the Eastern side, the memories of the somber week lingers among low-hanging fog. Grays of evening shadows overtake forest greens. A bear lumber along a path leading into a misty cove. What lies therein? Perhaps a sleeping dragon.

It does not do to leave a live dragon out of your calculations, if you live near him.

Becoming a walking, dancing, fire-breathing lifestyle dragon is not something you can pursue overnight! It takes years of studying, living, and understanding the modern culture!

Where is the illusory dragon, sleeping in a shrouded cove, or dancing in some 21st century village?

May your trails be crooked, winding, lonesome, dangerous, leading to the most amazing view. May your mountains rise into and above the clouds.

52 Week Challenge, number 4. My niece.

THIS, is my happiness. Out geocaching with Mel the other day, after being cooped up for many months due to a foot surgery, this was one of the happiest days I've had in a long time. When I asked her what she thought my top 3 favorite things were that made me happy, she answered without hesitation, GeoCaching, wine, and my dogs. And she was right!!

2020: Hawaii Five-0 (Fernsehserie, Folge 10x12

This was taken on Vance Creek Bridge in WA. I spent the first 15 minutes practically on all fours, terrified of getting vertigo and falling off the bridge. Over time, as I tried to set up the shot that I wanted, the fear faded and I spent the last 15 minutes running back and forth from the camera to check the composition of the photos.

Another week of bad weather and no inspiration!

Well thats a lie, i have so many ideas! but the weather isn't permitting them or my Model isn't available, and these i don't want to be self's!

So i was playing around. I got this old Bible in a Charity shop for £1.50, but its beautiful, pearlised cover and the note with the date in side (as i said before, i have a lot of junk!)

I don't feel this is one of my bests, but i also know i probably won't do much shooting over the weekend! I sound lazy!

But yeah, see you next week, have a good one people!

Week 39:52 Graffiti (September 23rd - 29th)

----------------------------------------------------------------

There are a lot of wonderful paintings on the brick buildings in the nearby 'city' in my area and most, if not all of them were permitted by the municipality. Decided not to use them for this theme because I took the phrase "without permission" and see the word "usually" actually does mean "always" for my interpretation of graffiti.

----------------------------------------------------------------

There is quite a bit of this style around the area. This example is one of the closest to the main street in town. The others are on side streets and freight cars on the railroad tracks. Cannot be certain if this particular piece shows the work of 2 contributors, since at first glance, seems to be the case... or possibly 3.

Driving toward Canada on a dead end road.

Taken on one of my daily runs to get my allocated time outside to exercise

I had gone with a friend to Lake Wenatchee, near Chelan in Washington, to start my 52 Weeks Project. This photo does not show that the day was, in fact, quite sunny. There was also a school field trip happening, so close to shore there was a pack of elementary school kids confused by the random woman wearing a purple dress on a cold day and staring at nothing in the water.

Look closer.

Let's go on an adventure while wearing those shoes. {Sooc}
