My very first attempt at street photography. I used the Greycstoration plugin to hide the motion blur. I didn't stop to take this shot, but I kept walking; the image stabilization of the Alpha100 couldn't avoid it.
"I prowled the streets all day, feeling very strung-up and ready to pounce, determined to "trap" life - to preserve life in the act of living. Above all, I craved to seize the whole essence, in the confines of one single photograph, of some situation that was in the process of unrolling itself before my eyes."

This is my version of Pasha Penguin with Little Man. I decided to make mine out of Pastel colors instead of the traditional black and bright yellow orange. This is a great weekend project. It knitted up very quickly using size 6 needles and Plymouth Encore worsted weight yarn. It used very little yarn. I made the eyes out of yarn (a little Navy I had lying around), but you could also use buttons. This project took longer to do the finishing (sewing up an stuffing) than it did to do the knitting. The pattern is from knitty.com (http://www.knitty.com/ISSUEwinter04/PATTpasha.html). I was inspired by an entry on the doggedknits blog (http://doggedknits.com/--look under "Niecephew"). I originally linked to this blog from Fricknits (http://fricknits.typepad.com/fricknits/)--another great knitting blog. Thanks everyone for the inspiration!

taken from his cushion (the blurry bit is the arm of the left-hand couch). The bookcases here are in their natural messy state. I have, however, just sorted and catalogued the CDs.

We started this bookcase a few weeks ago and it took me a while to pluck up courage to slap on the varnish.
Two coats later, and it's done! We'll be adding more books to the shelves soon, we just want to pick out our favourites.

So guess how I spent *my* weekend..
If you guessed pressure-washing and repainting the deck on the side of the house, you must be a really good guesser! Or maybe you just deduced it from the "after" photo..
By the time we finished, it was past sunset, and well into twilight.. And I just liked how it looked like a dance floor in the moonlight with everything cleared off of it and all the wisteria beaten back.. So wide open and inviting.. If I had my way, we would leave it as open and zen-like as possible.
After all - you never know when you might want to dance in the moonlight....
