Finally able to get back in the garden today - luffa's, cucumbers & summer squash/zucchini. First I had a few of these prickly jerks to get rid of... Shot for the Week 23 challenge in Compositionally Challenged - "Something that doesn't belong".
"The first adhesive bandage was invented in 1920 by Earle Dickson, a cotton buyer for the Johnson & Johnson Company in New Brunswick, New Jersey. The company sold them with the brand name "Band-Aids", and when introduced, they were the first dressings for small wounds that users could apply themselves. Many other companies now make these small adhesive bandages, but the brand name "Band-Aid" is the word that most people know them as."
"In 1924, Johnson & Johnson developed a machine that mass-produced Band-Aids in great quantity. They were cut down to a smaller size, and new packages were made with red pull-strings that made the wrappers easy to open."

Band-Aids started to appear in metal boxes around 1926. They haven’t been packaged this way since the 1990’s but when I buy new ones I always transfer them to this container.
The Hereios are exploring Medical History today.
It was raining buckets when I got off work, with flash flood warnings broadcast on the radio and storm dains overflowing out into the streets. It was too much for even the most intrepid outdoor photographer. So, I complied with the weekly theme of "The Dark Side" at 7 Days of Shooting by taking this photo in a dark room with a small LED light just behind and above the tripod. My rusty old box is my nod to “Worn and Weathered Thursday”.
This weekend, we took a trip to Annapolis for an overnight and Winston got to come along (first night in a hotel). After walking around the city all afternoon, Winston was definitely wiped out.
Week 23 of 52 Weeks for Dogs
This is my runner-up entry for this week’s 52F challenge, titled “Use the Wrong Lens.” The challenge encourages photographers to use a lens in an unconventional way, such as employing a 16mm lens for a headshot or a 200mm lens for landscapes. For this task, I equipped my camera with a 16-35mm lens and set out to capture some images.
While sitting on my couch enjoying my coffee before heading to work, I noticed my pup, Lolly, lying on the ottoman next to me. She looked adorable, so I grabbed my camera to take some photos of her. The natural light from our picture window beautifully illuminated her face. After taking the photo, I applied a LUT to give it an old-timey look.
He guards the entrance and is our sign that we about to enter the city limits. The weekly theme in the 52-week project is "shadows and silhouettes."

Marley on a black background.
The Mark on the lower right corner of the card is how I sign my artwork. It's my initials d and g written on top of each other and I usually place it within the year. (You can see it on the other unfinished cat below - without the year)

"7 Days of Shooting" "Week #23" "The Dark Side" "Shoot Anything Saturday"
A different type of season. Whale watching season in my part of the world starts in May through to July for the migration north and September through to November for the return journey. We had a beautiful winters day walk today and would have seen at least a dozen whales.
Well, there are lights all over the place so I might as well. Red and white bokeh for my abstract!

my friends! You make my day every day!
These were circling about and kindly swam beneath where I was standing. The two beneath appear as reflections, however all were fully submerged with the lower pair receiving lesser light in the murky Intercoastal.
This is William Dunlop on his way to getting a third place in Wednesday's Supersport race. He was doing well in Friday's Senior race but unfortunately came off in the third lap and has broken his leg. Wishing him a speedy recovery.
Had a little play with this as the theme for this week is monochrome.
Tonight was literature night in Budapest, and we went to a couple of readings. This was taken at one of them. It's late and I'm sleepy.

the eyes being closed was a reaction to the flash but I liked the effect.

for 7DoS: I wanted to avoid more shots of Xmas decorations but I'm too busy to set anything up and only had my iPhone to use, so I went for a shot of the pond / waterfall that my sister has built in her garden. The plants still have some growing to do ..
This has been by far the hardest challenge, I have really struggled with my lack of Photoshop skills. However, if I don't look too close, I'm actually quite happy with it : )
Agapanthus Summer Growth Triptych
Week 23/52 - "Change"
One week of growth in my transplanted Agapanthus. This flower brings a smile to my heart with its rapid growth and striking beauty.
The buds swell and burst and expand to form a large fan like display of flowers.
They obviously like the combination of sea air and Miracle Gro because they are thriving.

Oops! This past week has been a little crazy so I almost forgot this week. I also had to do a little "archive mining" foor this week as well. It's a stretch I know, but there is a lot of "blue." ;-)
