Car show at Grand Rapids Downtown Market

Took Andy away to Upper Hurst Farm in the Peak district camping this week for our days off, and luckily this view was right on our doorstep - no way we were going to miss sunset this time with it only being 100yds from our tent!

10 stop and a Lee 9HG ND filter, around 40s. 10-22mm

These dahlia have such a beautiful colour and mist certainly make me smile!!

I was debating doing our body painting for our 52 weeks shot but then I ended up not taking any of BOTH of us.

When I decided to do these weekly shots of us, my idea has been to do a weekly photo journal of sorts of our year, highlighting the ups+downs (hopefully more of the former than the latter) and everything we do along the way, and be sure to capture any relationship milestones, etc. This week we just don't really have much going on. This whole month in fact, seems busy with lots of stuff that is not related to us, which is fine, but makes it hard for interesting photos. I want them to be realistic but I want them to be enjoyable to look at, too! One weekend towards the end of June we are going out of town and so I will have something interesting for sure that week! :-)

Also a possible submission for the CWD assignment High Key. You can see my other possible assignment here. I would love your thoughts!

Week #23 ~ Car Park Abstracts

23/52 - Shadows & Silhouettes (52 Weeks: The 2015 Edition)

- Face-down Tuesday: June theme: Garden (FDT-058)

- 52 weeks: the 2016 edition. Week 23 theme: Seasons

- 52 Weeks of Photography: 23/52

- 52 Weeks Project: 23/52

Theme of The Week - Dear Photograph

My sister and I. She was 3 and I was 6. She wanted to look out the window and was just heavy enough that I couldn't lift her. My mom had July written on the back, but those are most definitely Easter baskets... that was the only problem with film, especially when your camera predated the date imprint.

A lovely walk around the Souk Madinat Jumeirah in Dubai at the end of a beautiful day!

Definitely Dreaming - Week 23 Writing

This week was a bit tricky, if I wanted to keep with a beach theme. So I dragged the other half down the beach with pen and paper, and voila, done :)

Abby knows there is an "attack" from Skylar coming her way when she emerges from a woods patrol.

I went looking for a Waterlily but found a feather instead. It seems to me that the feather doesn't belong to the leaf.

Composing in the view finder is hard. Is my focal point adhering to the rules of thirds, is the shot straight, is it well focused, and how is my background? This was just resized after being viewed on the computer.

Lovely colours and thankfully looking nice and healthy!

Week 23

Title: Island Ho!

Notes: This week I was lucky enough to be at my favorite place, on Block Island. While we didn't stay as long as I would have liked (why ever leave?) we did get to enjoy some beautiful days and evenings and many good friends. The island is a natural beauty to explore for the vistas and the wildlife. I can never get enough. I have often wanted to get a decent shot of the view out the portholes on the ferry and this time I had one that I thought good enough to share.

This is my submission for the Teleidoscopes Week #23 Hold My Hand. I figured I'd give it a try...even though I'm a few weeks late! This is a self portrait taken near Barber's Point.

THE CONCEPT

As the spirit leaves the body, there is a glimpse of life left that just wants somebody to hold their hand as they pass on. I dedicate this to my mom. She actually does this for older people with no family. She spends time with elderly people a few hours a week, so they don't have to die alone. She's the best! I hope someone does this for me when I'm old.

This is the Mono version of an earlier shot, I like how this one really brings out the detail of the rocks and the water.

I dont no about other people but I always seem to shoot more pictures of a location than I really need to. over 50 taking here trying to find the right shot.

This shot is also going to be added to my 52 weeks set as I am struggling with this weeks challenge due to work etc etc

I had to use a line from a song for this week’s 52 Frame Challenge. With only one day to shoot for this assignment due to a hectic week, I took a trip to the bar with my friend. Across the bar, I spotted a guy and was reminded of Ernest Tubb’s “Pass the Booze” song.

"Been my friends all day it's no good I'm still lonely

Seems that I just can't forget my one and only

So there's just one thing left to do if I intend to sleep tonight

Put the bottle on the bar and let me do it up right

Please put the bottle on the bar where I can pet it

And take my address down before I forget it

I've got a feeling someone's gonna have to take me home this time

'Cause I'm gonna sit here till I get her off of my mind

My baby's gone gone gone

And I'm alone so so alone

And I've got nothing else to lose

So bartender pass the booze"

I always love roses as they are so beautiful and this is such a lovely one!

Without muscle and skin they're not much to write home about are they?

I asked these guys if I could take a few photos. They thought it a little strange but I explained that it was for a project photo on the topic of "Looney Leap". They didn't understand as they are from Finland, so I said "Crazy Jump".

They obliged and suggested this guy who could do some neat tricks. He was very good :-) More pics in comments.

52 weeks of 2016, week 23 Looney Leap

This is an action based (human) portrait, we don't want your subjects/models lazing on a comfy chaise lounge or sitting on a stool. We want them jumping around and leaping high into the air while you use your photographic skills to capture the action.

"Those boys play for keeps."

I was five years old and wanted a bag of marbles of my own so I could play with the neighbor kids. My father finally relented with the warning, "Don't come crying for any more if you lose them." Happily, I ran off with my small bag of marbles.

Later, when I came home empty handed, he started to give me the I-told-you-so talk.

I said, "It's okay, Dad. I just need a bigger bag to bring home the ones I won."

and that's my marble story

Week 23 and the theme was "Composites". A couple of years ago when doing my 365 project I tried for hours to get the DOF right on a shot of this chess set, since then discovering Focus Stacking. Eight images taken with focus progressively through the shot merged to bring all of the important part of the image into focus.

After too long a break I have finally added an entry to my blog here.

Seasons- Sun hitting the grass in the morning on the final Spring days. Not quite Summer just yet.

Week 26 in 52 Weeks for Dogs and we're half way through another year. This is the retake for the shot I tried and failed with last week. I messed it up again (with a different mistake!) but this week managed to rescue it in processing.

This week’s 52F challenge is titled “Use the Wrong Lens.” The idea is to use a lens in a way that seems unconventional, such as using a 16mm lens for a headshot or a 200mm lens for landscapes. I equipped my camera with a 16-35mm lens and headed out to capture some images.

While I was exploring, I came across a classic car parked nearby and took some photos of it. I ended up meeting the owner, and we chatted about cars, especially his vehicle. It’s a 1976 Triumph TR6, which is nearly 50 years old. This car is fully manual, carburated, and has a 4-speed transmission. The interior features beautiful wood paneling and analog gauges. It’s truly a fine machine.
