Shot for Week 23 of my "52 Weeks of 2022" flickr group project given the theme "Macro".
The colors and markings of this flower really caught my eye. Focus stacked ~20 images to get the DoF I wanted.

I struggled a bit again this week. Lots of lines, but none of them seemed to be leading anywhere.
So, oak tree path it is...

The longest night of the year is honored by many traditions as a sacred time. In Latin, solstice means sun set still and Winter Solstice is the great stillness before the Sun's strength builds, and days grow longer. It can be a time to rest and reflect. It's the fruitful dark out of which new life can eventually emerge. In ancient times and for some today, the darkness itself is the spiritual cradle into which the Sun is reborn.

Exploring longer exposure. It felt so good to return to a favourite spot - to spend a quiet hour playing with a challenge, getting more than a little lost in 4 second intervals of steady and focus.
A lovely dahlia looking even more lovely in the sunshine!

Week #23
Theme: High Key
We spent most of this morning at the park doing what I love...stalking all the birds, including this blue heron. Because this week's theme is high key, I tried to produce that effect as best as I could outside with natural light...and my camera set to +1 EV...and a bit of help in post-processing to increase the white values. I took lots of shots of this fella...both in the river surrounded by the bright water and in the sky with clouds behind him. These bright backgrounds really helped in trying to achieve a high key look. I settled on this one for my submission this week...I like how graceful he is coming in for a landing on the river. A little later in the morning, we saw him catch a fish...and it was a pretty big fish...and then we saw him swallow it whole. My throat felt a little sore just watching lol...
Well, doesn't it look lovely?! However, the wind coming across the sea was so very cold and I mean bitterly cold ... I wonder when summer will arrive!!
Regardless, I am sure you would love walking along our beach!

it's a very long time since I've played with twirling. Pushing the colour tones is such fun! This started as a ruby red clematis flower. Week 23 for the group 52 weeks: the 2022 edition, Extreme edit.
Such a pretty hydrangea ... flowers can always brighten up my day!

This week's challenge called for something done in 'high key'! Not something I've tackled before so have had to do some research! Well with a little help from a preset in Topaz Adjust and the flash on my camera I've come up with this. The background is a white sheet.
Doc: Great Scott. Let me see that photograph again of your brother. Just
as I thought, this proves my theory, look at your brother.
Marty: His torso's gone, it's like it's been erased.
Doc: Erased from existence.
Well...the title writes itself here. When I took these - with an iPhone, of course - I didn't realize the filter I was using was the exact match for the color in the name of the musical. Or may be I did. Subconsciously. Couldn't decide which one I like better, thus the diptych. I bet I can get some extra cliche points for that. Oh, and it is better in large, so hit "L" if you have time.

First time I have ever seen these birds and first time photographing them - chuffed to bits - will have to go back again to watch these lovely birds .......
Definitely Dreaming - Week 23 Night
This is outside of the club, where I'd met up with friends for the evening.
Like many cats, Daisy loves playing with boxes or paper bags. But she chews them too, leaving the bits scattered over the carpet!

On Saturday afternoon we met up with our very good friends for a BBQ in their garden ~ that is now allowed and it was great for the four of us to get together on a bright sunny day!!
These little flowers are growing in their garden but we didn't know what they are!!

This weeks challenge was to make weather the star of the show.
No problem, coming from Scotland, there is always drama in the skies 52 weeks of the year. Erm not this week, in defiant fashion Scotland has been bathed in sunshine all week and showing no signs of letting up.
Week 23.......Long Exposure
This weeks theme fit nicely with a scheduled photo shoot with a local car club. This photo will be used on award plaques for their annual car show, Cars on Main.
Strobist info: 2x SB-600's camera right (about 30 feet right) near where yellow car stopped, fired as rear curtain at full power at the end of 6 second exposure. Single SB-600 camera leftish illuminating Oshkosh sign and static cars, full power. Triggered with Cyber Syncs.
HDR done with Photomatix Pro

Today, there was a Kite Festival at Chippewa Park. The weather was beautiful for kite flying. I was surprised to see someone standing in the water as it feels like it is still too cold to be in the water.
