Seafood is a weakness of mine, and I was hard pressed to pass up the Prawns Polle last night. It was expensive but I'd gone to the photoswap at Europa solo and I'd planned for tonight in the budget. Pasta, garlic, spinach, Feta Cheese and tomatoes and pine nuts.... This was good!

This little guy's weakness is....CANDY!!!!

I couldn't resist. x3 We all know she's going to fall in love with him at SOME point. Anyone who tries to say otherwise is in denial. ^^ The Walk by Imogen Heap helped out immensely with this one.

One of my weaknesses is that I don't do any research about a place until after I've already taken a trip there. I like the freedom that comes from not having any plans or expectations, but the downside is that I sometimes miss out on opportunities to see things I would have enjoyed if I'd known about them. Like, for instance, I could have taken a better picture of the house you don't see here up ahead on the left.

I didn't initially plan on posting this picture looking west along 144th Street where it intersects Hamilton Terrace, but one of the internet maps I looked at yesterday labeled that house hidden behind a tree at the corner of 144th and Convent "La Casa de los Tenenbaums." I looked it up, and sure enough, that house played the "house on Archer Avenue" Royal Tenenbaum, played by Gene Hackman, bought in the winter of his 35th year in director Wes Anderson's classic 2001 film, The Royal Tenenbaums. I always take pictures of every damned thing, but this is the only picture I took on this street that captured any bit of that house.

I'm not a huge fan of Wes Anderson films in general, as Anderson has a very distinct rhythm and quirky visual style that makes his films all come out the same. But The Royal Tanenbaums is the best version of that movie by far, and in fact ranks as one of my top five all-time favorite movies. There's a lot I love about that movie, but one of my favorite aspects is that it paints New York City with a kind of washed-out, stark 1970s winter decay aesthetic that captures the bulk of the place without any of the recognizable glitz. Anderson purposely chose pieces of the city that missed the gleaming bits everybody looks at. Like for instance, he filmed one scene down in Battery Park that involved a character standing at the edge of the sea, talking with the harbor behind him. But he purposely placed the character in a spot that obscured the Statue of Liberty, so that all you saw was the harbor and New Jersey. It's brilliant! I think of all the versions of New York that have existed in film, the Royal Tenenbaums version is the best.

So I would have liked to have known I was walking right past the Tanenbaum house, and maybe I could have taken a moment to pay my respects to the Tanenbaum family and at least gotten a good picture of the place. It's terribly beautiful. But I didn't. And now I sort of want to go back.

Original Bliss - Play to My Weaknesses

Cleator probe for a weakness in the Carlisle batting at the J.D. Campbell Memorial Ground during a Higson Cup quarter-final between Cumbria League Premier Division rivals.

The visitors, playing on what they see as a 'bogey' ground, followed up an emphatic league win at Cleator two days previously by routing the same opposition, this time by 113 runs.

Ben Davidson (75) and skipper Michael Slack (35) gave Carlisle a great start by putting on 97 for the first wicket. Marc Brown (32) kept up the good work before the city team collapsed from 176-3 to 189-7. Pacer David Blackwell took 3-31 for a Cleator side who had local lad Graham Clark, the Durham player, standing in as sub pro.

The speedy Slack set the tone for the home team’s innings by striking with the first ball. He removed the first four batters to post figures of 4-16. The previous day, the in-form Slack had taken 7-22 at Didsbury as Cumbria beat Cheshire by five wickets in a Minor Counties one-dayer.

Graham Clark failed with the bat but brother Darren (22) top-scored. Jonathan Davidson eventually outdid Slack by taking 5-20.

Carlisle were forced to field with 10 players for three-quarters of the Cleator innings. A slip fielder tore finger webbing in dropping a sharp chance off Slack. He left the field, in obvious discomfort, but watched the denouement before leaving for hospital - his mum driving! - and an appointment with stitches.

At the present time, indeed we are, despite all our abilities and potential. The problem lies in the lack of will, believing our disagreements are unsolvable, and in accepting our lack of confidence. We have convinced ourselves that we are powerless and are satisfied to play the role of victim so that we can always place the blame on others. Such a sense of weakness was one of the reasons that caused frustration to spread, and prompted the people to lose confidence in some of their leaders. This feeling has contributed to the outbreak of the wave of popular uprisings and revolutions demanding freedoms, rights, and the restoration of our dignity and self-confidence.

Day 20 - My Weakness

I feel that I must ask your forgiveness for posting such a cliche picture, but I was at a loss as to how to show my weakness for musicians. ( Like you couldn't see this coming!) I knew I wasn't going to get a group of them together in the 90+ degree heat this afternoon to help me with my little photo challenge so I had to come up with something else... this is the best I could do. : )

My series is about dealing and coping with your weaknesses. It originally started as just showing weaknesses and then I expanded onto how people should deal with it then I went into how people actually deal with it and I interviewed people and asked and then I used how they deal with it as my photos. I was trying to show also the emotions through the photos and it was difficult but I think the emotion came through better than I thought. For my first photo I have Alli in her middle splits and also have her hiding behind a pole and hiding her face and this represents her being embarrassed and having her hide. The second photo is of my arm with fake blood running down it to create the illusion of cutting. I did this one through personal experience and I am showing depression through this because again of my personal experience. The third one is of my little sister and she is praying on my bench with photos everywhere. This is showing her sadness of loosing someone close and her praying is how she is dealing with it. The fourth picture is of Lilli punching her pillow. When I asked her how she deals with her anger this is what she told me so I took pictures of her punching her pillow to show how she deals with the anger. For the fifth and final photo I took photos of Lilli acting like she is going to throw up in the toilet. I did this one out of personal experience again. This one illustrates showing depression again and just showing herself reflection and her inner issues of not being accepted into society. The photos go well with showing of peoples personal issues and how they deal with them.

We recently had a visit from an HR notary who spent two days with us for management training.

Prior to this we filled out a questionnaire (mostly with a combination of adjectives), answering "least like me", "most like me" and ranking thee other answers from 1-5. The results were presented to us on the first day of training.

Seen above are the results of my test; the ugly parts. I felt the report was rather flattering generally, maybe too flattering.

True power if within, and it is available to you now."

My weakness is pasta. Add in a little garlic, lemon and shrimp and I'll practically do anything to eat it. My boyfriend's family and I went out on Saturday night to the Crab Shack, and as soon as I saw shrimp scampi on the menu I was so happy.

I find it hard to resist buying cookies or a golden brownie or a cupcake from Mrs. Fields. Everything there is just so good!!

It's Monday today and I just found out that I don't have classes until Wednesday! So, I got bored and decided to post a few pictures.

“But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me.” 2 Corinthians 12:9

I think I've mentioned a few weeks ago that I'm doing a word study on 6 words that will be in preparation for the first meeting with my cancer support group. Last word I studied was "healing". Healing was a difficult word to reflect upon knowing that many in our group are currently in treatment after several years of being in and out of treatment. I was left with the question of why does God completely heal some people and not others? My answer: I didn't know nor could I explain why. This week's word study was on "Grace".

In the above passage we see that Paul had a thorn that he asked the Lord to remove but the Lord’s answer to his prayer was not the way he had hopped for. “In effect, God said to Paul, ‘I will not remove the thorn, but I will do something better. I will give you grace to bear it. And just remember, Paul, that although I have not given you what you asked for, yet I am giving you what you need most deeply. You want my power and strength to accompany your preaching, don’t you? Well, the best way to have that happen is for you to be kept in a place of weakness.” (Bible Commentary)

In a nutshell God is saying that sometimes having Him by our side and the assurance of His strength and grace is better than removing us from our trials, sufferings and thorns.

WHAT? Does He really mean that? I think He does and here is why . . .

Human weakness will provide the ideal opportunity for displaying God’s divine power. Not only that but when we know God as our Savior we also know that His Grace IS already sufficient. It is not something we have to ask or work for because it has already been given.

How do we know this to be true? Because, “The Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth" (John 1:14).

The "Word" in this verse is referring to Jesus Christ the Son of God. Jesus came to earth to experience the life of man. He became flesh, taking on the form of a man and dwelt among us. The word dwelt here means “tabernacled” or “pitched His tent.” Basically His body was a tent that He dwelled in while He lived among us. He showed us His glory through the miracles he performed, by His death and resurrection. This glory proved that He truly was the Son of God. And He was full of grace and truth meaning He was “completely gracious and at the same time completely righteous which is something only God can be” (Bible Commentary).

You see when Jesus became flesh and took the form of a man to dwell among us He also experienced everything we experience. Hebrews 4:16 says, “Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.”

Brennan Manning says in his book, The Ragamuffin Gospel, “Jesus has journeyed to the far reaches of loneliness. His broken body has carried your sins and mine, every separation and loss, every heart broken, every wound of the spirit that refuses to close, all the riven experiences of men, women, and children across the bands of time.”

We have confidence in what God is doing in our life because we know that Jesus “Died to save us and He lives to keep us” (Bible Commentary). His grace gives us the power to do what we don’t have the strength to do on our own. God knows what we are going through because He has already experienced it for us.

I still have no answer to why God heals some people and not others. I have no idea why God doesn't tell us what that miracle cure is. Some say there is a cure for many diseases but the powers to be don't want us to know so that we are kept in treatment to expand their pocketbooks. I tend to disagree because I think God has a reason for everything and sometimes we are not to know the whys. If we knew than we wouldn't need Him as much. Without suffering and trials we wouldn't have any reason grow stronger in our relationship with Him.

I know God has a plan for our lives. I know God loves us. I know God sent his Son Jesus to free us from our sin through his death and resurrection. I know because of all this that my life is in His hands. I may experience some terrible things but I experience them with the one who has journeyed there before me. I know through my suffering I gain strength where I am weak. I gain abilities to reach out where I once couldn't. I see Jesus like I've never seen Him before. I know He will always give me the grace to endure.

When I think about the whys as I struggle with the difficult questions I think of one thing: Just Grace.
