I have a weakness, which I don't indulge too much, for nice stationery. These are a few notebooks I've picked up for various purposes since I've been here. The bamboo notebook is for learning Chinese (I have a similar chrysanthemum one for Russian). The small notebook is for carrying around in a pocket to write shopping lists, notes, and whatever Chinese characters I'm trying to learn. The penguins don't yet have a use, but I couldn't resist them.

When I face my weakness two things happen: I first have to identify it and then, I have to face it. If I can first name it, I can then move on to deal with it. One way I do this is simply that I realize how much I need Jesus. I am not much without the power of Jesus in my life. My weakness is considerable! As Paul says in the 2 Corinthians reading, ‘I am glad to boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ can work through me.’ Any success I have in dealing with my weakness is attributable to Jesus alone. Praise God!
