This gentleman, first off had a crush on one of your friendly ladies in the gang, but he also was the nicest older man, needless to say, very trendy too. He offered us some sort of soap tasting cake for the whole gang (8 of us), and even packed up some scott-towels so we can clean off our sticky soapy hands. Whether the cake was good or not, this gnetleman deserves a medal for Montreal Charm.
Day 27: Your Weakness
One of my many weaknesses is that I drink entirely to much Mountain Dew. For the first time in more than a decade, I went ahead and had a Flaming Dew Driver to get this image. (No alcohol was wasted in my efforts). Anyway, back in the day, Flaming Dew Drivers were popular in goth clubs because soaking sugar cubes in vodka and lighting them before stirring them in to Mountain Dew gave it a very similar ritual to the drinking of absinthe. This drink died out quickly once absinthe became legal to serve.

She said to wait
for she could not continue on;
Turning away from me so I may be spared her weakness,
she pulled out a key
Then plunged it into her breast.
Three times she turned the lock round and round,
So her heart may keep her ticking
for some more increments of time.
When the deed was done,
the key disappeared into her skirts.
“Whatever are we waiting for?” she asked.
In silence we continued.
The ultimate weakness of violence is that it is a descending spiral begetting the very thing it seeks to destroy, instead of diminishing evil it multiplies it.
Through violence you may murder the hater but you do not murder the hate, in fact violence increases hate. Returning violence multiplies violence, adding deeper darkness to a night already devoid of stars.

The weaknesses of trial by jury, the rights and wrongs of large benefits payments, the reported exodus of white Brits from London and the government's sale of 4G mobile phone licenses were all discussed as BBC Question Time came to St Paul's.
Seafood is a weakness of mine, and I was hard pressed to pass up the Prawns Polle last night. It was expensive but I'd gone to the photoswap at Europa solo and I'd planned for tonight in the budget. Pasta, garlic, spinach, Feta Cheese and tomatoes and pine nuts.... This was good!
I couldn't resist. x3 We all know she's going to fall in love with him at SOME point. Anyone who tries to say otherwise is in denial. ^^ The Walk by Imogen Heap helped out immensely with this one.
One of my weaknesses is that I don't do any research about a place until after I've already taken a trip there. I like the freedom that comes from not having any plans or expectations, but the downside is that I sometimes miss out on opportunities to see things I would have enjoyed if I'd known about them. Like, for instance, I could have taken a better picture of the house you don't see here up ahead on the left.
I didn't initially plan on posting this picture looking west along 144th Street where it intersects Hamilton Terrace, but one of the internet maps I looked at yesterday labeled that house hidden behind a tree at the corner of 144th and Convent "La Casa de los Tenenbaums." I looked it up, and sure enough, that house played the "house on Archer Avenue" Royal Tenenbaum, played by Gene Hackman, bought in the winter of his 35th year in director Wes Anderson's classic 2001 film, The Royal Tenenbaums. I always take pictures of every damned thing, but this is the only picture I took on this street that captured any bit of that house.
I'm not a huge fan of Wes Anderson films in general, as Anderson has a very distinct rhythm and quirky visual style that makes his films all come out the same. But The Royal Tanenbaums is the best version of that movie by far, and in fact ranks as one of my top five all-time favorite movies. There's a lot I love about that movie, but one of my favorite aspects is that it paints New York City with a kind of washed-out, stark 1970s winter decay aesthetic that captures the bulk of the place without any of the recognizable glitz. Anderson purposely chose pieces of the city that missed the gleaming bits everybody looks at. Like for instance, he filmed one scene down in Battery Park that involved a character standing at the edge of the sea, talking with the harbor behind him. But he purposely placed the character in a spot that obscured the Statue of Liberty, so that all you saw was the harbor and New Jersey. It's brilliant! I think of all the versions of New York that have existed in film, the Royal Tenenbaums version is the best.
So I would have liked to have known I was walking right past the Tanenbaum house, and maybe I could have taken a moment to pay my respects to the Tanenbaum family and at least gotten a good picture of the place. It's terribly beautiful. But I didn't. And now I sort of want to go back.
Cleator probe for a weakness in the Carlisle batting at the J.D. Campbell Memorial Ground during a Higson Cup quarter-final between Cumbria League Premier Division rivals.
The visitors, playing on what they see as a 'bogey' ground, followed up an emphatic league win at Cleator two days previously by routing the same opposition, this time by 113 runs.
Ben Davidson (75) and skipper Michael Slack (35) gave Carlisle a great start by putting on 97 for the first wicket. Marc Brown (32) kept up the good work before the city team collapsed from 176-3 to 189-7. Pacer David Blackwell took 3-31 for a Cleator side who had local lad Graham Clark, the Durham player, standing in as sub pro.
The speedy Slack set the tone for the home team’s innings by striking with the first ball. He removed the first four batters to post figures of 4-16. The previous day, the in-form Slack had taken 7-22 at Didsbury as Cumbria beat Cheshire by five wickets in a Minor Counties one-dayer.
Graham Clark failed with the bat but brother Darren (22) top-scored. Jonathan Davidson eventually outdid Slack by taking 5-20.
Carlisle were forced to field with 10 players for three-quarters of the Cleator innings. A slip fielder tore finger webbing in dropping a sharp chance off Slack. He left the field, in obvious discomfort, but watched the denouement before leaving for hospital - his mum driving! - and an appointment with stitches.
