well this is the photo for yesterday because from 9-6 i was at work experience and then when i got home i had to rest my back because we edited the whole day so my back was aching so much. i'm so inspired by her though, she has done so much. i guess i'll talk about it more after the three days.
i tried taking a photo for today but it's pouring with rain right now and i was planning on going for a walk but it doesn't look like that's going to happen.

Hot Tub Time
I went to TC's today and we edited Eric's podcast all day long. I literally arrived around 7:30am and departed around 7pm. We talked for an hour or so before we got into editing. And we got in his hot tub twice through the day as well as stopped for lunch. In all that time we only got through about 30 minutes of his 1 hour and 42 minute interview. We are getting back together Wednesday to finish it.

"Markirya" is a name often given to our longest Quenya text from Tolkien's hand. Il is a highly transformed version of poems written in Qenya tens of years before. These bear the title of Oilima Markirya "The Last Ark" ; the last form presented here has no title. The word oilima does not seem to be valid any longer at that stage, in its stead métima is found; on the other hand Markirya is made of the elements mar "dwelling, home" and cirya "ship" well attested in Quenya, and so could be valid even at that time; consequently this poem is often called "Markirya", an apocryphal but convenient title. There are two versions; the second was published as an addition to the essay A Secret Vice in the collection The Monsters and the Critics, with the differences of the first version, Tolkien's last corrections and a glossary.
Here we give the second version with Tolkien's ultimate corrections. We edited the spelling to adapt it to the uses of The Lord of the Rings, save the diaeresis that we utterly removed (it is but a purely graphic sign to help English speakers to get a correct pronunciation). We adopted the usual correction in the first line of men into man and fáne into fána: crosschecking with other Quenya sources allows to make sure these are indeed typographical errors. The English version was reconstituted by Édouard Kloczko after Tolkien's translation of the first Quenya version and the vocabulary of the glossary.

(note: as we edited through my guatemala photos, many of the photos i took of david seemed to be a bit strange. we half-jokingly said it looked like he was going insane photo by photo. so this is that edit. all tongue in cheek. this edit neither confirms nor denies mr. banks' sanity or lack thereof.)
This is a very high contrast edit that Briana was working on while we were on the plane today. We shot it yesterday with the incredible Lorri M for MUA ( www.lorrimitchell.com ).
Lighting is a clamshell over camera axis, about 4 feet from Bri, two matching 30" umbrellas in bounce position. No fill under or on either side. A 430EZ on 1/32 power offers the little wink of light on her hair. Main light is a studio strobe setup.

She is learning Photoshop pretty well and this shot is a double edit meaning we edited it once and saved it for additional edits with luminance masks for very high, high, dark and narrow mid adjustments.

As each of us has his own impression of Afghanistan that is predominantly marked with pictures of foreign forces, explosions and terror, we were privileged to have access to capture daily life and portrait some people of Afghanistan.
We hope the pictures you know will merge with the pictures you see and will enrich your view on the country in the Hindu Kush.

We wanted to go to other places as well but there were several incidents and security was too bad. Just one day after shooting at the blue mosque in Mazar-e Sharif a mob started from the very same place storming the UN building.
I have lived from 2006-2008 in Kabul doing my civil service for a humanitarian aid organization. This March I had the chance to go back with my fiancé to show her the place I love and to capture the beauty of this country with our cameras.
At the same time I made this as a tribute to a dear friend, who was shot in the streets of Kabul. Gayle inspired me in her love and dedication for the Afghans.
After a full summer with other work we had now the chance to do the editing.
Lisa-Maria Puy who composed the music for us was wonderful to work with. We met her on Zanzibar island and back in Germany she composed this wonderful soundtrack within just 3 days (and nights). She studied music at HfM Detmold in Germany and is a very talented artist and we hope to work with her again.

I just completed a two day private workshop where we detailed both the capture and post production side of landscape photography.
This shot was a three image exposure blend that we edited from the sunrise shoot component of the course. Wasn’t the greatest of sunrises but still we got some interesting looking images from messing about with shutter speeds.
Not sure if this one is pushed too far, but it was fun taking it beyond the level of a natural looking seascape.
All post production work was done in Photoshop CS4 using a range of layers and blend modes, different luminosity masks, clipping masks on each images, funky Channel Mixer trick, B&W layers, dodge and burning the list goes on. Phew !!
I love the green water and the colour of the rocks to the right of it. The other day I was teaching here and it was low tide and I had to rescue a beautiful green beached Moray Eel. I did think about picking it up to get it back into the water but though better of it and gave it a quick flick with my tripod. Wasn’t easy but I got him back where he belonged.

Uploading the Moc, which I actually promised to upload some days ago, wasn’t possible for me because I’ve had some problems with a stupid virus. But now I’ve fixed everything and now I am able to upload more again! ^^

Finally we arrived at a nice place where we can stay over our first night. - a cave at a small clearance. It was a very stormy night that’s why we edited the cave a bit and clamped a net before it and on that we’ve put some huge leaves. While some of our corps were sleeping Sonoc , Buffle and me were guarding our place. That night was so long for me, so I wasn’t able to sleep any minute! And I’ve always had the feeling we were being watched!...

We took this picture in the library, which caused us to adjust the settings of the camera because the lighting is different in there. We used composition with the book and used a wide lens so that the main focus was the eyes. In lightroom we edited the color a little bit and turned up the blue hues because the photo came out a little yellow at first.

This was the first time I edited a picture on a mac. And the resolution is insane. I look at the picture on a mac and it looks gorgeous. I look at the picture on my pc and its a little lighter and has a blue hue to it, skin tones aren't as good and overall I want to run back to the Mac. I wonder if its one of the screen's is not calibrated or the Mac's resolution is just so high. I'm a pc guy and editing on my business partner's $5000 Mac makes me look at my photos differently.
It kind of makes me wonder what other people are seeing. If they are seeing the final product I want them to see. Or if they're still using a a monitor and graphics card from 98 or something. How do we make sure the viewer gets to see what we want them to see? How do we edit for the norm?

today work was pretty slow and the work day felt very long. which was alright because thats more time for me to read :)
on the way home i picked up some milk and soda (for my family not me)
when i got home i ate like i always do and wached an episode of The Office with my Mom
after that Me and Kaleb finished up a scene for the video we filmed last night
then we went to work on the best video idea we've ever had.
Kaleb came up with it last night and it is so funny i can't wait for everyone to see it!
it's going to be the first of a ongoing series called "Tony's Tutorials" the first episode is called Tony's Tutorials: How To Play Guitar
and that is where todays photo comes from. this photo was taken right before we started filming. just wait until you see Kaleb bring this character to life. you won't be able to stop quoting the video haha
once we had it all filmed we edited it and showed our Mommy who thought it was very funny

then my Ashy finnaly got home from iwoa and i was very glad to see her :3
we watched a movie and after she went to bed i finally got to catch up on my GeekTyrant reading that i was days behind on
then i went and watched an episode of The Office with Kaleb and before we went to bed he made himself something to eat. it was ramen/spaghetti sauce/and one egg. i don't know why he did it but he seemed to like it haha
