This is a dahlia that grandson Oscar photographed today. I was helping him learn how to use the camera. He was so thrilled with this photo after we edited it to take out the dead flowers. He wanted to know if I would post it :) Of course, I will post this for my soon to be 10 year old grandson!

Greenwich Foot Tunnel, London, England

Always love reworking an old photo, I really hate the way I edited this image a few years ago compared to this, I suppose our tastes as photographers are always changing from what we photograph to how we edit.

Would you agree with this?

I feel my editing has certainly changed over the last few years to a point where I am happy and am always keen to revisit photos that I took years ago.

This tunnel is very well documented on Flickr but I can see why it is so popular with photographers. I love the grittiness and the mix clean shiny tiles with the dirty worn ones. The converging lines are always appealing to me :-)

Location Information

The Greenwich Foot Tunnel crosses beneath the River Thames in East London, linking Greenwich (Royal Borough of Greenwich) in the south with the Isle of Dogs (London Borough of Tower Hamlets) to the north.

The 'Friends of Greenwich and Woolwich foot tunnels' (FOGWOFT) was established in September 2013.[1] Following encouragement from FOGWOFT and information from the Institution of Civil Engineers, on 5 July 2016 an interpretative plaque was unveiled near the tunnel's Greenwich entrance by the deputy leader of Royal Borough of Greenwich council.

This image has been in my ‘edited folder’, for some time now. This ‘edited folder’ acts as a stopgap between, leaving the raw file in the original folder, (never to see the light of my laptop again) and deciding to do something with it, postproces and show to you guys. I like to have this middle ground as a reflective space, kind of giving myself some time to digest the images merits. Ironically, leaving the image there for a short time helps distance me from the initial passion that I’ve experienced when making the image, so I’m able to objectively see, (in the cold light of day) if the image transfers the same set of emotive attributes, (that initially brought me to visualise then execute it) are still present when you take ‘me’ out of the equation. This process is a way of attempting to empathically see the image from the viewer’s perspective, to discern if the image in its self, removed from my immediate perception, will catalyse the same emotions I felt for the real experience.

The process of reflection inevitably means that some images, that I consider to be interesting in some way, don’t make it past this self initiated quality control filter. By quality control, I don’t mean technical issues, (they are sifted out when I first view the raw files) but conceptual, compositional, unusual, dramatic, mystical, subtle, merit (I could go on but I won’t).

Now sadly this process, like my mind, is not totally organised, (I do hope I haven’t given a misleading impression of that here). I generally use my gut feeling to guide these exceptionally difficult editing choices, but sometimes for reason it’s often hard to put those choices into words and some images in this folder I’m just not sure about. Now I could just make another folder that is in-between the ‘edited folder’ and call it ‘almost sure this is what I want to show the world, but not quite’ but that would be taking my occasional challenging indecisiveness to a new level of obsession.

now this might not seem like a big problem to some of you out there, and its only myself imposed desire to present a personal vision on the world that is extra special to me, that keeps me worrying about this type of thing, ho yes let’s not forget the rewards from the fascinating learning process I encounter as a pleasant by-product. But I suppose what I’m trying to do here, is attempt to analyse, then organise my own thought processes in order to make stronger emotive photographs.

Some of you may think that I write so much in accompaniment to the imagery I present, because I want to offer my views, or help others learn from my mistakes, or to initiate debate, (and you’d be partly correct). But a significant part of the reason for writing this text is to try and illuminate my own thought processes in order to hone them. I’m attempting to reflect in order to develop. (On a side note I’ve long taken the piss out of people who say they are trying to find themselves, but it appears that I’m now one of those people, so joke away!)

This complex set of personal, often subconscious filters, from where to soot, what time of day, how to compose, what subjects we choose, what equipment, what environment, what season, to what we decide to edit, how we edit, how when then present it and what text goes along with it, (to name a few), all ensure that we present only the imagery that fits our current artistic vision.

Furthermore by analysing this process in depth, I feel that I’m able to feed the reflected ideas back into the subconscious decisions I take whilst on location, to make the subconscious coconscious and artistic vision constructively directed.

Anyway this image was taken at Sandsend a few weeks ago. The conditions were perfect, (for my current artistic vision), as it was very stormy and the low light and heavy clouds, offered a wonderfully dramatic setting. Now as you can imagine I was excited to explore this photographically and quickly began working before the fast moving circumstances changed. Then unusually for this beach, I happened on another photographer, who began to set up his large format camera in my profiroll vision. now because the conditions were so special, I didn’t go over and talk to him, as I usually would have, but continued working and told myself that when the rainbow disappears id go over and reflect on the amazing circumstances. Now as this conflict was working its way thought my mind, it began to rain. I didn’t care, as I was enjoying myself so much that I didn’t want to end the experience, but secondly, I was already wet through from being just that bit too deep in the sea, for the waves to stay beneath my wellies. Anyway when it began spitting, the for mentioned large format photographer, packed up and disappeared before I could break off and have a chat.

Now I respect that camera equipment and water don’t mix, especially sea water, and that due to the very dark clouds, there may have been good reason to assume that the heavens were about to open. So I understand the other photographer’s decision to make for his car, but I don’t understand that in such fantastic conditions, an obviously committed large format photographer (well so I assumed from the size of his expensive gear), not wanting to seize the moment. I wish I could have had a chance to talk to that guy, and who knows it might be you, but if it is, you missed a great opportunity to feel the rawness of nature. Anyway I wonder what you thought of me on that day? Maybe I will one day find out (o:

Mels and I both took the same photo but we edit so differently! We wanted to see the difference 😂

For a friend's photo stack challenge. She provided a green screen shot of herself, and we edit. Fun little project!

We edited an original art work: here the original.

Art work by Frarock and me.

I wish you all the best for the New Year to all my Flickr friends and family! I know I have not posted much lately as I am drowning in a sea of photos like the rest of us. The bigger the memory cards, the more we shoot, and the more we edit. Hopefully, I will catch up over the next few months. Much love to all.

My only sunrise trip during our Netherlands/Belgium holliday.

I really had luck with the clouds passing by.

But the editing of this picture wasn't easy.

So together with two friends of mine, I did a "we edit your raw"-Session.

Felix had the idea to give the picture a lot of warmth - more like sunset instead of sunrise.

I always had a black and white conversion in my mind, but this editing really fascinated me - so the final image is "sponsored by Felix" :-)

PLACED: 3/3[ELIMINATED]

Yay! I made it to the final three! This week I am shooting for my third first place photo so I tried my hardest to look edgy and elegant. I hope my hard work payed off!

For this theme, we had to show a shot of our model on a runway. We wanted Kalyna to where a gown so we dyed white fabric and made a dress out of it. We edited the photo with "Ribbet.com". It's exactly like picnik!

Glad that I'm finally able to use Geary (my camera) on a weekly basis now! Not to mention my prof is pretty open on how we edit our photos and or plan out concepts. I'm kind of content with the outcome of this. There were lots of complications, but in the end I was able to figure out ways to make those mistakes work in a positive way.

So our project for photography is called "Nerd VS Rockstar". I just assume that everyone is going to be doing the typical "nerd", so I decided to do something different. Instead of going for the geeky math nerd, I went for the stylish book nerd who just really gets immersed in different stories! I think this is a much more refreshing way to look at the whole "nerd" concept that's overdone.

Tomorrow's light painting in class, which is something that never gets old and is always exciting and fun! My iphone's "flashlight" app is ready! : )

Hope everyone's having a lovely start to their week! I'll be uploading more work as they pile up haha!

The season of the sticks, as the shoulder months are often known, can be the hardest for those of us who love photography. The natural beauty of fall is replaced by barrenness, and scenes that simply don't stand out in the same way. While many of my friends in the mountain regions of VA have been treated to some magical snow scenes, here in Northern VA, we've been mostly trapped with a dusting and very little excitement. VA snow is mostly here today and gone tomorrow, so it's tough to commit to travel to watch the snow melt. Instead, we edit through our stash in Lightroom, and hoping that we can share some of the love. This eastbound manifest in Foley, PA was one of my last trains of the true fall season this year. The clouds on the horizon show you we had about 10 minutes left of full sunlight, and the train came just in time. I've been meaning to do more on Sand Patch, and I'm glad we were able to make that happen this fall. I look forward to getting back there in the spring, getting to many places in the spring honestly, and getting back out exploring. But 2025 was a great year, and I'm excited to start scheming for 2026, who knows what adventures we'll get to go on. Until then, we'll be cruising through some of my 2025 outtakes, and hoping we get some snow around this place soon.

We were walking along Sugar Beach in Toronto when my boyfriend noticed a utility box with a reflective surface. It didn't seem very appealing to me because it had a bunch of dents in it and I didn't know why he wanted me to take a picture of it. So I did and then we edited it together.

The mirror represents the distortions that mirrors give it's viewers and the blue represents the true blue of the photographers great capture! It is the photographer that tells the story through their pictures and what makes a great capture is the feeling or emotion that it can create in the viewer. It is the photographer that reduces the distortions and makes it clear to the viewer why any picture is a great capture. The next time you look in the mirror ask your self, do I look better in the mirror? Or when someone has taken your picture?

this is a collaboration photo that I took with my best friend Pamela Bows. I'm uploading it here because I'm farrrrr too lazy to upload it to our collab flickr, and besides nobody will see it there.

I love working with her because shes a painter, and she sees thing that I don't necessarily see. We each have our own parts that come naturally to the collab... shes in charge of sketching out our ideas and then i'm in charge of the photography aspect on shoot. we edit together, and since were basically the same person we usually agree on colors and styling and what not. it makes creating art a not-so-lonely thing. :3

This is the same picture as option 1, but we didn't edit the skin, and we edit her hair to be a tiny bit blue[+no text].

It is Paprihaven's annual 13 Daze of Halloween countdown! This year, will the fearless Blue Ranger, Akiko, remain fearless when she finds herself in the most famous, frightening, fantastically foreboding films of horror?

______________________________________

Bandai SHFiguarts - Akiba Ranger

Craftone - Jack Torrance

While we knew we would need to scale-merge the 1:6 Jack figure with the 1:12 Akiko, additional factors caused this shot to be more challenging than expected. Of course we wanted the scene with Jack smashing through the bathroom door as that is the most iconic.

First we were surprised that the sequence in the film never pulled back to show the full door, which we wanted in our shot.

The reason we wanted a full shot was to feature the Akiko figure. The iconic shot from the film with Wendy only has her head and upper body in frame as she's slumped against the wall, and that image is completely sold by Shelley Duvall's gaunt, terrified face. Akiko has an impassive mask, so it wouldn't have been as effective to recreate that angle.

The door was the next. Without a full door shot from the film we edited what was available.

I'm sure we've all fallen victim to this. We find a subject that really interests us, we take a bazillion pics, we edit them down to half a bazillion, we want to post every head turn or wing flap. Well thats where I'm at here. I came back from a photo trip where we saw hundreds of bald eagles then came home to find the owls. Snowy Owls always trumps eagles.

So, we completed our mission to get MC ( and we didn't get a cab, please clap friends). Oh! And we edited our video (I guess Iev did) then watched it over and over and over again because we are so funny ;) ha. ha. ha.

Last week the sign over Auschwitz saying "Arbeit macht frei" was stolen. This morning I see it has been recovered, albeit in three pieces. It is Xmas, a time when we remember those who are no longer with us and rejoice in those who are still here, when we think how we can do things better next year. The image above is a strange happenstance of a Xmas star light made in Sweden (Ikea), in the shape of the star of David (Hannukah) in a cross of suffering which also seems to support, sitting on a hot South African windowsill. Strings and wires are attached. What is light is dark and what light is dark, time has left its mark. I am blessed this year to see Xmas and Hannukah afresh through the eyes of one very special child.

Going through some old shots, teaching my assistant how to edit. We edited this photo from the McLaren shoot from last year.

Please do not use/post elsewhere without my prior consent. Please leave a comment/fave if you like it.

The more I look at the shots I got of various resorts, the more excited I get to go back down. I'm sure we all get new ideas as we edit photos from past trips. After reading Ryan Pastorino's post on Disney Photography Blog about leveling ultra wide shots, I definitely want to pay a little more attention to my leveling next trip, especially with my ultra wide. This was taken from one end of the Grand Floridian resort lobby and is a 3 bracket HDR.

Please let me know what you all think as any suggestions are welcomed and appreciated.

Enjoy!

FLOWERS BETWEEN FENCES...

+ Coming out through the wire fence weaves, we saw this beautiful purple seven-patacas, of the species Allamanda blanchetil. Well, this is another one of the pictures with the Sigma lens in a bird's eye view at the Vale do Ipê-yellow Condominium. The photo was taken in jpg, at the time we still didn't use the RAW format. Now in 2022, we edited the image, but nothing too sophisticated and used Google Lens to identify the plant. As for the name of this beautiful flower, I don't know if it's possible to translate it into English. Seven and purple are possible, but "patacas" wouldn't know what the correspondence would be.

papa so lazy , lets we edit our self photo .....=3=

I spent a few hours around Ueno yesterday with one of my photo students, looking at composition again but this time with a bent on seeing series of images and tying them up into a story.

We'd spent the first hour at McDonalds [free electricity to power the laptop, warm interior and if faced with no other available option.. ok coffee] going through last week's images. We edited down from 222 to 12 in 30mins and I then made two triptychs for her, one from each location we'd been shooting at. Two visual stories, told with three images each. It was a big moment for her I think, seeing the editing process and then the putting together of the best three images to make a story.

Anyway, we took a walk around Ueno Park and managed to find a little last flourish of autumn colour.. which I took the camera out of the bag to shoot. The only thing, apart from a few seagulls, I shot all day. My lessons are not always about me shooting. Just helping you shoot better.

What do I say about a shot like this. It's a little old, but, what is a photograph besides a memory.

No matter what we do, how we capture, how we edit after, how we develop, no matter what they are simple memories.

I think that's kind of cool. I like the fact that with photography, we can catalog our lives, and look back at our own memories.

It's important to live I suppose, and move forward, but I like looking back sometimes.

I have been shooting a lot recently because of a photo class I'm taking.

They won't let us submit any photos that we edit so I'll just post them here.

I don't feel like I've been reaching my full potential.

I hope I can soon.

Subject: Condemnation of Recent Events in the Israeli-Palestinian Conflict

Dear zionists,

We, the undersigned, are writing to express our deep concern and condemnation regarding the recent escalation of tensions and violence in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. The loss of life and suffering on both sides is distressing, and we believe it is crucial to address the root causes and seek a just and lasting solution.

We condemn all forms of aggression and violence, recognizing the need for a peaceful resolution that respects the rights, dignity, and aspirations of both Israelis and Palestinians. We call on the international community to intensify efforts to facilitate dialogue and negotiations, promoting a comprehensive and fair resolution to the conflict.

It is our sincere hope that all parties involved will prioritize diplomacy, cease hostilities, and engage in meaningful dialogue to achieve a sustainable and just peace. We stand in solidarity with those affected by the conflict and urge leaders to work towards a future where both Israelis and Palestinians can coexist in peace and security.

Sincerely,

me/us/we

Thursday, August 5, 2010 Song of the day: Arcade Fire “The Suburbs”

WOW, I think my heart experienced more than it could handle today. I had the hugest adrenaline rush ever, followed by about 10 more. Here’s the story.

I go outside and walk towards the golf course to take my day 18 picture. I come back in, lock my sliding door and put the pole back in place (to keep intruders out). Something moves. I scream at the top of my lungs (I’m so fearful of running into those sun spiders). Turns out it was a gecko. I want to see it. I move the pole again. It squirms and gets stuck in the corner towards the door. I grab a glass. I scare it out onto the carpet. It has a hard time walking on the carpet. I put the glass over it. BAM. I have a trapped gecko. It’s so cute. I call Bethany. Tell her to get her butt down here because I have a trapped gecko. She comes down. We gawk at it. Adore it. Take pictures of it (see day 18 photo). We decide we want to bring it back outside. We slide a piece of paper under it to trap it. It freaks out. Its tail starts wiggling like a madman. Its tail is still wiggling like a madman. Bethany and I start screaming because it’s creepy. Its tail starts breaking. Bethany yells, “OH MY GOD, IS HIS TAIL COMING OFF?!?!” We continue to scream. And screech. And get grossed out. We have to walk away for a minute because we are so freaked out. We walk back towards him. His tail is completely detached from his body. We scream more. And more. And more. I google “gecko tail falls off.” Find out it’s a defense mechanism when they get frightened to distract its predator. We feel guilty for scaring it. And for making it think we’re predators. We don’t want to hurt it. We want to help it. Damage had been done. We pick up the cup/paper and walk outside. Set it back down on the ground. Shout, “1...2...3...” and flip the cup over. We run away. Fast. Screaming. We wait 30 seconds then go back to see if it got away. It’s slowly trying to escape. The TAIL is still stuck to the glass. We want to vomit. And we can’t stop screaming. We flick the tail off with the paper. We go inside and wash our hands. Over. And over. And over. We upload the photos onto my computer. We look at them. Screaming. The whole time. Our hearts are racing. I’m having a hard time breathing. We pick a picture. We edit a picture. We upload it to flickr and attach this story. This was a true story. Of two girls. Horrified by a tail-less gecko.

We go pick up my lens at UPS. My heart is racing again. I need to go to sleep. So my heart doesn’t explode. Will practice taking photos with new lens tomorrow. Emily is coming to visit! I will take photos of her pregnant belly. She will be beautiful!
