A couple of wave portraits from Newborough Beach, on Anglesey.
The strong wind was producing some huge waves, so I experimented with some David Baker (milouvision) inspired images of the waves. These aren't anything special but were certainly very good fun to try when presented with the opportunity of the raging sea.
I found these challenging to take, let alone to try and capture anything meaningful compositionally so I have even greater respect for the body of work that David has accumulated - go check him out.

Wave pattern design on the calçada portuguesa in Belem, Portugal.
This image was taken from atop the pavilhão dos descobrimentos, which is a monument in the shape of a ship navigating in the "sea" depicted by these wave patterns around it.
insane waves at Vik Iceland during one of the stormiest days I've seen there. A display of true power!
The bridge looks like the curl of a wave here to me. So many possibilities! Which is a good thing, since we came back here so often.
To dream about waves:
"To see clear, calm waves in your dream, signify renewal and clarity. You are reflecting on some important life decision that needs to be made.
To hear waves crashing in your dream, indicates tenderness and relaxation."
Tried a black and white version of these waves hitting the rocks at Sutro Baths.. Hope you like it :)

Storm
Hard to believe that the shutter speed was 1/6400 sec.
The very high wind speed was whipping the sea into a frenzy and smashing the waves against the harbour wall.
The force and roaring sound of tonnes of water crashing onto the shingle beach and against the stone block walling was simply incredible.
Overcast skies and windy conditions create deep green waves reminiscent of celedon pottery.

A fresh wave breaks onto a high tide Nolton Haven.
Hand-held & polarised. Multiple exposure (three frame). Cropped & modest treatment in Lightroom.
Spring is nearing at Pelcomb Portraits.
Fairly long shutterspeed, salty spray in the air and light comming from the front almost makes it look like a painting.

A cold sunrise in new jersey... totally worth it!
These waves breaking along the Atlantic coast cause updrafts that the brown pelicans love to ride in the mornings.
